My husband informed them of his handicap and they put him on the third floor all the way in the back which makes it difficult for him to retrieve his items
The help at the front desk turned him away because she was about to go to lunch he was having difficulty getting in the gate.

My experience with the Public Storage facility at 1404 E Big Beaver Rd, Troy MI has been great! Clean and well maintained facility with a consistently staffed office so someone is onsite during regular business hours. The staff is friendly and helpful.

I would give 0 stars if I could. A water leak completely ruined a lot of my belongings, and it's been TWO months with no response from their insurance company (Orange Door Insurance). Despite submitting all the damage photos, they’re ignoring my emails and calls. How on earth does this place have a 4.7-star rating?! On top of that, I was forced to buy a $20 lock from them without any option. I am beyond frustrated—this has been the WORST self-storage experience ever. DO NOT go here!

How do they get a 4.7 rating!! $1 for the first month is actually $50+tax for lock $19/$1 first month and $30 admin fees THEN after a few months they can raise the rate to whatever they want based on section 2 paragraph 2 of the scam contract!where they can raise your rent without notice. Mine jumped from $27 to $46. Stay clear from this scam of a company!!!

These guys are such a cheat. They made me pay $20 extra dollars to use their lock when they promised that I can return that lock and get back my money. But, when I arrived at the unit, I saw that I have to use that lock they provided to secure my unit. When I asked the manager for a discount, they refuted saying that I can't get a discount and I have to pay for it anyways. Frustrated with this experience. I will make sure none of my friends ever do business with these guys.

This facility is absolutely the best! It is clean, easy to access, and has great hours. I had several phone calls with Teri (I hope I spelled that right) before we reserved our space. I had a lot of questions (some were dumb ones lol) and she was helpful and kind and patient, and we even shared a few giggles. On the day of move in, Teri was there, as well as Rochelle, and they were both great! Finished everything up in no time! Highly recommend!!

I first came to this exact place during Covid and only paid less than 30.00 a month and now it appears to increase each month. I’ll pay 50.00 one month and the next I’ll pay 80 and up for a small cubicle that doesn’t come with anything special. Don’t think about asking for grace , they’ll deny you within a second. Overall , I think it’s decent . But the price increases are crazier than rent these days . At least your landlord will give you a why and time.

New Update: Unfortunately I have to drop my rating as low as it goes. My family decided to keep using PS Troy after I moved out and now also have had poor experiences and while the manager worked with them to drop rates for a loyal customer, one month later corporate made sure to significantly raise future rates. Again these are REIT properties and can raise rates at will without any oversight. So disappointed. Facility is clean but still no working unit alarms even though PS claims they do and YOU pay for it.
Update: I have moved out of this location as prices were being increased so heavily that storing no longer feasible. There is NO loyalty what so ever to customers. They claim that prices go up when market changes. This is dishonest because they don’t ever reduce your rates when the markets are down. Just greed and again no loyalty. These are REIT properties so no real great laws to protect tenants because they are investment properties.
Original review: I have been using this location for years and the local managers are great and friendly. This 2 star is for the facilities and the regional management. One example is the main sliding door to the climate controlled building has been broken for over 6 months without any sign of repair. We are now in below 0 temperatures. My rates have raised at least once and sometimes twice yearly and they are adding a new climate controlled building yet no funds to fix the current building. Having a hard time believing the new building can be any better maintained when the local managers get blocked by the regional and corporate management teams. Started great but been going downhill for the last 5 years.
I have been very pleased with all my experience with Public Storage in Big Beaver. I moved in today and Wilbur walked me through how their system works. He’s very helpful, friendly and always have a nice smile. He made me feel comfortable right away. I will always recommend Public Storage for storing your belongings because of their good price, professional and friendly staff and their system is triple safe. Keep up the good work😃
Teri is the friendliest property manager I have ever came across. She always has a smile and works to resolve all issues. She is one of the reasons I keep my stuff here! As for this place the place is kept clean and well lit with the gate always in working order.

We had a climate controlled unit for 17 years and today we moved out. We can tell you that in 17 years our unit was always clean, our items safe and the staff attentive and helpful. Terri was wonderful helping us to close our unit and close out our account. There are now other facilities with climate controlled units closer to where we live but we stayed in this facility because of the high standards of customer service we always received. Thanks for keeping our stuff safe and clean all these years.

I did the process online and upon arrival realized I needed a larger unit, Terry was fantastic she went above and beyond for me and I truly can’t thank her enough.
It is fine , I rented a unit but did not receive an access code on time on the day of my reservation. I was there by 8:15am and still did not have access code - need to improve your system for this.
I had called in advance to inquire days before. I called the 800 “support” line the day of my reservation, and they couldn’t provide the code, when they should have per the property manager. Also , they need to adjust their hours to meet customer needs - if the units are open 6am-9pm, personnel should accompany these hours.
The units need to stay open until at least midnight too if not 24 hours. Property Manager, Terri was helpful and did provide some good tips.

Went to Public Storage in Troy about a month ago to get some information, and Sarah was a wealth full of knowledge. Today, I went back to sign up for my unit and Quaza was very polite and helpful. There were a couple of individuals in the building as well, and although they were rude to her, she only gave back politeness and the willingness to help in any way she could. Very thankful for the good experience.

The facility is clean and well run, and the phone app for managing my account and access to the facility was great. I recommend the facility and would rent here again.

Teri at the front desk was fantastic! I had booked online and set up autopay, but was a few weeks late moving in and had forgotten all the details. She showed me where to find my unit even though the app would have done that for me, and was happy to help. She even cut the clamshell open to the lock for me when I brought it back to the desk. Facility is clean and the bathroom in the building was a pleasant surprise.

Had a bit of a snafu with my rental and was being charged for a unit I wasn't using. I contacted the store to get it figured out and Will was SO nice, SO helpful, and SO engaged with the process. He offered to call me back so I didn't have to sit on hold, he did as much as he could on his end, and gave very clear instructions for next steps. Even though my problem was not fully remedied within the phone call, I feel very confident that Will is doing everything he can to facilitate and look out for the customer. I think in a world where corporations put so much pressure on their employees to focus on the bottom line they forget the value of customer service. THank you Will!

I've been with this Public Storage for quite some time and I can truly say that it has been a pleasent experience. Their facilities are always squeaky clean and their customer service is great. If you have to leave a message, they promptly return your phone call. I've worked with Jessica a few times and she was really helpful. As long as the prices stay fair, I plan on being a customer for a nice while.

Booking and getting into the unit could not have been easier. The facility is clean and nice, the price is very reasonable, and Terry at the front desk was absolutely wonderful!! She was so helpful, and very sweet even when I was having trouble because I was trying to open the wrong unit.

my rent has increased 50 dollars every 9 months, or DOUBLED, since I started renting in 2020. What has changed that has needed to nearly double the price of my original rent? The unit is exactly the same. The facilities are exactly the same. Is the plan to just keep increasing rent until people are literally paying as much as renting an apartment? I moved into this space due to proximity and affordability and this location has absolutely gauged me of money with zero explanation. I moved In bc I cannot afford an apt and needed a temporary, consistent solution not a constantly changing and increasing bill. I left the same message with management and have gotten no reply. Absolutely terrible way to run a business.

Update: manager called after I left a poor review. My monthly rate was reduced. Rates increased 30% 6 MONTHS AFTER MOVE IN. Rates increased $285 to $365! 10 x20 unit 6 months after goods moved in. I filled the unit and now rates go up 30%! I have two units and did not plan on this!! Expect rates to rise after you move your goods. Public Storage should be investigated by attorney general to raise by 30%. It is expensive to move goods and then Public Storage sticks it to ya. They did it me in Dallas too. $PSA

I have 2 units here and every time I come I spend a least 3 4 hours! They are the olny ones that they locked the bathroom 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ I’m really really thinking about going somewhere else because I have to leave here go home and come back! I will never recommend this place
