I had a very disappointing experience at this storage facility. When I arrived to move my belongings, I found out that the elevator was not working. The front desk employee, a bold, stout white man, rudely informed me that the power was out due to a city shortage. I had already arranged and paid for movers, and when I mentioned this, he rudely shouted at me to cancel them immediately. I hadn't received any prior notice about the power outage, and when I asked about it, he dismissively said they couldn't notify all customers because they have too many.
To add to this, 2 months later when I moved out, l attempted to return the lock, but the same employee (bold, stout, white man wearing glasses) insisted I keep it for future use instead of giving me a refund $50. It felt dishonest, as it seemed like a way for the facility to keep the money.
As an Asian female, I can't help but wonder if this treatment was influenced by my ethnicity. The experience left me feeling disrespected and mistreated. I would not recommend this facility, especially if you are Asian. Even though Seattle has a diverse population, in my experience, it has been one of the most racially biased cities l've lived in. It still holds on to its small-town culture from before Amazon's growth.
Pricing: Exploitative, renter beware. After two years they had increased my cost over 50% (from $86 to $133). I then learned that new units equivalent to mine were renting for $58. I had to rent a new unit and will need to move all of my stuff over; they refuse to price match and let me remain in my space. It's price gauging and manipulation at its finest. They are relying on people not being in town and not able to move units and just accepting the exorbitant rent increases.
Security: I've stored stuff safely for two years but in the last couple months another unit had $10k stuff stolen because the ceilings here are just chicken wire. Thieves rented a unit, cut the wire above their unit and crawled over to another unit, cut through again, and stole many valuables. I will be moving my stuff elsewhere.
Experience: Convenient, clean, easy. Really friendly staff.

Karisha, Julian, and Ryan have been my Public Storage heroes over the last day. Their customer service and kindness speaks to how well run this Public Storage facility is. I lost my keys and they were able to drill out my unit lock within the day and were available the next day to open it up for my movers. The facility itself is clean and easy to access. Julian even brought up a big cart for my movers when he saw they needed one. Truly a storage angel. Overall 10/10 facility for storage needs. Everyone that works here is really lovely and helpful.

This facility in South Lake Union, Seattle, is consistently well-managed. A few years ago, I had an urgent and complicated move. The timing required that I enlist help of others to finish situating my storage unit. Julian patiently worked through my detailed questions and helped me set up an authorized user for my unit who could help me finish up.
Just recently, I visited Seattle and downsized my storage. Kaitlyn followed up promptly to my online unit reservation, alerting me that the office was closing for the day very soon, so that I would not forfeit my reservation with a no-show. We quickly rescheduled over the phone. When I observed her later in person, I noticed that she was careful with the details of her job and interested in growing her professional skills.
When I did arrive to select my smaller unit, Blair assisted me. Blair was very careful to ensure I received a reduced price for reserving online, though I was paying in person. He also answered a number of detailed questions for me about the updates to the rental agreement since my last contract a few years earlier. When I signed the contract, I felt confident about what I was doing. Blair's long history with customer service roles showed nicely, despite his being a relatively new employee at Public Storage.
As I was making my move from the larger unit to the smaller, the Damp Check bucket I was using to keep the unit dry, sloshed a bit and made an oily spill on the store. Julien happened to be on that same floor nearby, and personally came and cleaned up the spill for me to ensure that the particular oily nature of the Damp Check fluid would not cause anyone to slip and fall. This he did with kindness and professional courtesy, attending to the details of his work without complaining about the extra effort I had accidentally caused.
Consistently, each of these employees has demonstrated a good balance between friendliness and healthy attention to the details and the boundaries of their job. Consistently, the place is kept clean and in good repair. Yep, 5 stars!!!
Talked to Blair here earlier this afternoon. Went from walking through the front door to inspecting my new unit to filling out the online forms and paying for first 30 days in about 18 minutes. I got clear paperwork via email explaining my setup and next payment due, which seemed to me a pretty good deal. Blair was friendly and professional throughout. Very great experience. They had a pretty competitive deal on cardboard moving boxes as well, so I picked some of those up on the way out. Positive interaction from beginning to end.

All and all having a storage unit right next to Lake Union is great. Came from California expecting an expensive 5 by 10. Price was surprisingly good considering we are in downtown Seattle.
Its a storage unit. Nothing special. If you decide to rent here, be prepared to just have your rate raise whenever they want with 30-day notice. Terrible company that advertises good rates then raises them within months, hoping you'll just not move your stuff.
Back to 1 star. I've been here for over a year and they've increased the price way more than would be legal if it were rent. Plus, I've yet to come in the last 6 months and have a dolly available to use. Ridiculous. It's a classic example of bad management. Plus the owner will try to bribe you to change your low review for $20 off one months rent...which is illegal.

Stored my stuff here for two years. Here is my opinion:
The good
-great location
-great staff who are willing to help
-good security with access codes and integration with the app
The not so good
-elevators are always going down which is a problem if your stuff is on the top floor
-storage rents went up dramatically in three big increases every several months while I rented
The process of renting a storage unit was so easy, the location is amazing, the units themselves and property are very clean and well taken care of. In addition the managers were super helpful any time I had a question! Highly recommend - I couldn’t have had a better experience.

You generally expect dealing with a storage facility to be a cold, impersonal experience. That's not the case here at all. The staff is always super friendly, and genuinely eager to help- it feels like they're on your side. Folks here are always great, but during my last visit Julian went out of his way to help me sort out a minor issue. The facility itself always feels really well maintained and secure. Can't recommend this place enough.

Storage is easily accessible and clean. Everything else as advertised.
Using the app makes entering and exiting the premises hassle-free.
It can be difficult to exit from Fairview Ave, but fortunately there is another gate to the premises from Valley street, which is very appreciated.
During peak hours, all the dollies may be taken, but outside of those times, i never had an issue accessing a dolly.
Just wanted to shout out Julian, Karisha, and Lisa again for their professionalism. I will definitely use Public Storage at this location again if I need it in the future.

Very clean and cool space. The design is very convenient for moving by one person. Door opening system offers a secure and quality storage for people living around. The property manager Karisha was super nice I do appreciate the kindness.

PLEASE DO NOT STORE YOUR VALUABLES HERE
There is a major security vulnerability in the way the units here are constructed. As you can see in the attached photo, the top of all storage units inside the building are covered solely with thin chicken wire. Thieves were able to cut through the chicken wire ceiling of my unit, then removed my lock (the lock provided by Public Storage), and replaced it with a fresh lock that they were able to acquire from another unused storage unit. The thieves were nice enough to leave me their pliers. I had to call a locksmith (lead time from Public Storage was 2 weeks to get the district manager out to cut the lock), pay $200 for the locksmith, only to find it wasn't even my lock.
They were able to freely leave with around $10k worth of valuables from my storage unit. Despite the access codes at the front gate, and requiring access codes to access each floor, I was told by the employees at Public Storage that thieves will book a unit on each floor through the proper channels, then likely use ladders to peer over the top of the unit where they can look directly at your belongings to choose which storage units they want to break into.
Luckily, I had the unit insured through the Orange Door insurance that Public Storage provides, but that won't cover most of the loss and it doesn't cover the sentimental value of the lost goods.
From speaking to employees, I understand that they're aware of this problem, this has happened before in the past (search for news articles about this), and yet they've done nothing to patch this huge security vulnerability that leaves your items/goods unprotected. If you are storing items that have any kind of sentimental value or that thieves might be interested in, please store them somewhere else that doesn't have a chicken wire ceiling.

This is a tricky review because this location's staff is amazing but the corporation itself is just a giant cash grab with no integrity. They WILL bump up your rate dramatically (mine just went up 35%), but I called and had a great interaction with Jackson at the front desk that I greatly appreciated. He really went above and beyond to help me (even though my rate increase couldn't be resolved, because of corporate). If the staff here were able to run it the way they think it should be ran, this place would be much better off. I really do appreciate that this team does everything they can. I hope it doesn't go unnoticed.
I've been a customer for over 2 years. This is a fine place to store your stuff, but here's my big warning:
The doors automatically stop working after 9 pm. Hours aren't posted anywhere and no one walks the property or comes over an intercom at night to let you know it's closing time. Once it's 9pm, there's no one to help you.
I once locked all of my belongings inside aside from my phone with my unit open. I was moving things to my car when suddenly I could no longer get inside to gather my wallet and close my unit.
Then, I called support. They couldn't let me in to close my unit. They needed my driver's license number to let me out of the parking lot. My license was locked inside. After an hour of back and forth, I dug up a scan of my ID on my phone from some old car rental paperwork.
I went back another night and was finishing up around 9. I got locked in the lot again but I called and got out. Then I received a call today threatening me with an eviction if I'm not off the property by 8;59 in future.
Again, no hours posted.
No warning about the time/closing when you're on site.
No one told me I could be evicted until now.
This isn't a business. It's a cash grab.
Julian and Karisha were great with helping me get two storage units at the half price deal they had going on at the time. The deal was only for one, but they gave it to me for both units. The service was wonderful. The units were maintained really well. I would trust storing my household things at their storage facility anytime.
Kenisha is amazing. She helped me several times during my move from one unit to a larger one and was so helpful, knowledgeable and available. The staff here have always been wonderful. :)

Just a block from Lake Union. Plenty of parking. Great space at a place with history: the old factory where Ford T's and other cars were built. Troy was great at showing us around and helping us find the right unit for us.
We have had storage units at the Public Storage on Fairview in Seattle for several years. The lighting is good and the buildings are always clean and maintained. I haven't had much need to talk to anyone in the office. However, today I needed help changing my payment method and went into the office. Julian was a rock star. He was very courteous, friendly and helpful as he worked through my accounts.

March 2024 update: Biggest drawback to this site is they keep raising rates, seems every other month!! They don't care if you're a long-term customer!!!!! GREEDY! Location is one thing...but it's not worth a $55+ increase a few times a year!
convenient off Mercer exit at Fairview. A few spots to park before the security gate. 1 block from C Rapid Ride stops, 2 blocks from trolley to Westlake mall. Also Mohai at SLU and Wooden Boat Center if you want to take a lunch break watching boats in between packing. Clean site. Only drawback is they keep raising the prices! For us long timers we should get a discount since we stay for years! Just because you're in a rich neighborhood (Google, Allen Ins) doesn't mean tenants are rich!
Friendly staff, clean environment. I love the fact that I can drive for 2 and 1/2 hours and have a clean washroom at the end of my journey before I start loading or unloading my car. It's too bad I had to move my contents to another storage locker closer to my sales territory. I will say this much though. Getting out of this location if you want to go left back to I-5 or west to Lakeshore is near impossible.

Updating this review to account for nearly 6 years of renting here. Stop looking anywhere else, THIS is the best spot in Seattle. We had one unit elsewhere and moved the rest of our items here into a second here because we enjoyed it so much.
Superbly maintained, well lit, secure, bathroom on-site, plenty of parking to include freight loading bays, multiple large elevators. You name it, this place has it.
Julian, Karisha, and Jackson are friendly, easy to work with, and genuinely care about your experience. You won’t find that at many other storage locations where they just want your money. They run a tight ship, and as a result the quality of the location has actually increased over the years. Take a look at any other storage location around Seattle and you’ll find they don’t even try to maintain their current level of quality.
Enough reading… go to 700 Fairview and start renting!

Absolutely wonderful experience getting a storage unit in this facility. Julian made the whole process so easy and efficient. The building is clean, safe temperature controlled and secure and they are running a special right now to get first month for $1. Access with Phone App and wide range of hours makes this storage business one of the best in the city.

Great facility, modern, clean and convenient. Most importantly, the staff is courteous and customer focused. When I needed a helping hand vacuum sealing my mattress, I went to the office and got multiple hands. I was provided with a vacuum and hands-on assistant in vacuuming and wrapping the mattress.

This was my first experience with Public Storage (storage in general) and it was an extremely pleasant one. The circumstances for my visit here were a bit stressful but Karisha and Julian made this an incredibly smooth operation for us. When we got there, the elevators were out due to the power surge in the area. The moving services and I were debating on what our next steps ought to be. Karisha and Julian stepped in to help and transitioned us to a ground floor unit. They were empathetic, respectful and followed up to ensure the move/storage went smoothly. I can't thank them enough.
The general facilities are also very well kept, clean and exceeded expectations. I also learnt one of the buildings was a historical one!
I was able to reserve my space online and using the app get in/out quite easily.

The facilities were kept clean and they provide carts to help you move items. It’s also not too crowded even though it’s in downtown Seattle. Jackson, Karisha, and the entire staff were very friendly.

Unit itself is well maintained, staff was nice during the little time I interacted with them. Hours are better than most places. Traffic getting to and from the unit is a huge deterrent though between Mercer and I-5 and Fred Hutch. They tried to increase our rate from $120 to $170 (a FORTY PERCENT increase - I mean inflation is real, but there’s no way the managerial cost of this place increased by 40% in a matter of months. My income certainly didn’t!) and at first we were able to stop it and then it happened again, this time without warning. The only way to get a hold of someone is to leave a voicemail inquiring about availability- that pretty much guarantees they’ll call you. Otherwise it’s extremely difficult to get a hold with someone at the physical office.

GET MORE CARTS! This is ridiculous. Me and about 5 other people here right now wanting to access our storage units and there are no carts anywhere. The office is out too. How much do carts cost? You think you could use some of our rent increases to buy a few of Amazon? Stocking carts is one of the most basic functions you can do for your customers.

Storage/moving/life can be very stressful and you want to be able to trust the staff, be welcomed with smiles and be helped as much as you can. This is the place to get all of those things. And the place is very clean!

Facility is run very well. Compartmentalized so you can only access your designated area. Overall very clean, accessible, and they have moving supplies kept in stock in the main office. Easy to access via the app and Julian did a great job walking me through and showing me everything.
Edit: you will need to purchase a lock from them based on the way they’ve constructed their units. You can use your own but you’ll need to let them know so they know it’s yours.

I have been using this location for close to 3 years now. It is in a good location, has multiple exits to avoid the traffic on Fairview, gated, and has great units. I consolidated from two spaces to one and Julian was a massive help. Julian found me a great rate and was attentive during my move out. I have yet to have a bad experience with this location. Needs longer hrs
What a scummy operation. Raising rates by 50% with less than a months notice, people living inside the facility making it unsafe, also allowing large moving trucks to block all the regular spots so you can’t even enter the gate, and then having broken gates that will get fixed months later.
The phone app works great. The place is clean. The location is great.

Decent rates for being downtown and you might even be able to snag a good deal from time to time.
Gate access is easy with a key code or using your phone.
Carts are sometimes difficult to find so be aware you may have to go looking for one that isn't close to your unit.

In case you don’t see it somewhere else, the elevators automatically lock down at 9PM and there’s no way to get back upstairs after that! Make sure that you’re finished before then!

Stored a 3b/3b house here in a 15x18 for 6 weeks. Cannot rave enough about the cleanliness, security, efficient booking, check in and staff. I ran into Julian multiple times over the month, always so helpful and nice. Ran into Karisha a few times as well, very kind, always there to help. Access is easy for a moving truck, even during busy weekend dates. I easily zipped in an out for small things during the month as well. Units are impeccable, literally spotless, and very very secure. Would recommend to anyone. And it’s absolutely worth the extra money, if thats what you’re toiling over. If we need storage again in the future, there is zero question we’re returning here.

If you live around SLU, this facility is in a very convenient location. The building my unit was in was on the south side, and it was well lit, clean, and well maintained with good air circulation. It was nice that I was able to do all paperwork online, including moving in and moving out, and all the gate access with the app on my cellphone. If you need assistance, just walk to the office near the entrance, and there is always a friendly staff who can help you. In my case, it was Jackson. When I moved in, I had trouble finding my unit and he kindly gave me directions on how to get to my unit. When I moved out, I wasn’t sure if I had any remaining balance because I had to move out earlier than planned, and Jackson kindly checked my balance for me and made sure that I have no remaining balance to pay. Overall, I highly recommend this facility!

I have been a longtime client at public storage and have known many employees over the years, Julian is by far one of the best. He’s willingness to answer any question and his constant up keep of the property makes a huge difference. I highly recommend interacting with him for renting units and answering questions.
I have used Public storage since December 2020. I have been extremely pleased with the staff and the facility. Move-in was very easy as the large elevators were more than enough to fit all my stuff. I visited once after a year and a half to check up on everything and it was all in perfect condition. I moved out recently as I’m moving to a new city. I had to do it all remotely, and the staff was very accommodating. I had an issue where I didn’t close out my account fully even though it was past the end of the month, but Julien was able to close it out and wave my fees for the month. Very grateful for Public Storage during this pandemic and highly recommend them to anyone!
I had zero issues with access, security or storage while my stuff was here. I chatted with a person online on the Public Storage website who said I had to pay for a full month even though I was only using it for one day of the entire month. Upon checking out, I was told I was getting a refund which was a nice surprise!
Only thing that could have been better was an explanation of exactly where my unit was because it turned out there was a basement and that's where mine was. Staff helped me figure that out though.
Terrific staff at the Fairview location. They went out of their way to help me move out by end of month, which saved me money. I really appreciate how they went above and beyond.

I rented storage at 700 Fairview for a little over a year (in the south building), and highly recommend them. The staff here are a pleasure to work with, and the building is very clean and well lit, climate controlled, and safe. So, no musty or weird odors, and I never once felt creeped out on late night storage runs. The location is supremely convenient. I could ding it 1/2 of star because there's no indoor drive-thru loading bay, but I won't because the convenience, quality of the space, and great staff more than offset it. A+++
Very deceptive business practices 3 months in and they increase my rent by $125 dollars a month?! Like how is that even a thing! Beyond ridiculous scam practices avoid this place at all costs. They also have terrible customer service they said they mailed out a notice and I never received anything so how is this even legal?

I have been to this location multiple times including when I needed to move in and out and the elevator has been broken 3 different times over the past year. Most recently, my storage unit got broken into (as well as 14 others). I was notified and told by the manager that "most people don't care since it's just their old stuff" and "no we don't have any cameras to see what was going on" and "no we don't have night security". Not only did this company not offer to reduce my rent/month, they did not offer a free month or two. They gave me free locks (I had two on my unit) which still got broken into. To note, my unit has my entire life (not old stuff) in it including sensitive information. I called to get a reduction in my rent/month and they did a "reassessment of the market", lowering my rent from $215 to $193. They made no comment on the fact that my unit was broken into. So with that being said, I have been overcharged for I don't know how many months. I called again a few days later to request a free month and was told I would hear back in 72 hours. I did not receive a call back. If you are looking for a safe place, I don't recommend this place. If you are looking for working elevators, I would not recommend this place. I'll be calling again and making note of my review in hopes to improve the care of this location as it needs a bit of help. Please get storage unit coverage (wouldn't recommend their plan but would get it through your own insurance company).
Mainly leaving a review for Julian as I called over my unit’s rent being raised substantially and he quickly put in a request to waive the rent increase for 6 months and it was approved. I’ve used this place for several years and the yearly rent hikes hurt but would be good for short term needs. Basically been my go to for storage though. Climate controlled is important for me, access, security and price. Again, quite high priced but otherwise good choice.
