About Bremerton

Bremerton is a picturesque town located along the Kitsap Peninsula in the Puget Sound region of Washington's Kitsap County. Just a short ferry ride from Seattle, the largest city on the Kitsap Peninsula. The History of Bremerton

Bremerton built its economy in the mid-1880s on the back of its logging and timber industries. During World War I, its economy diversified into submarine manufacturing. Another dry dock was constructed at the time, bringing more employment opportunities and residents to Bremerton. Jobs in ship building, maintenance and repair were plentiful during World War II.

When the war ended, however, these services faced reduced demand, and many of Bremerton's residents left in search of new job challenges. In recent years, revitalization efforts have spurred commercial and residential development, especially in the downtown area.
