Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 1425 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX

Ms. Peg was great.

Started out thinking I'd be leaving a glowing five star review. Until the location manager discovered I had a service animal. No where in the lease nor posted anywhere on site was anything regarding dogs being allowed or not allowed. Regardless, a service animal or even service animal in training is not classified as a pet in Texas but is considered to be a necessary piece of medical equipment. The manager was also unhappy that I was going to be bringing my belongings to the unit by hand as I lived only two blocks away and am currently without a vehicle. Manager made a fuss about the presence of my service dog when I was accompanied by him and even tried to accuse him of defecating on property. My service dog is 100lbs. The tiny ball of cat crap I was shown was stepped on and definitely cat crap most likely from one of the multiple stray cats I saw during the trips I made while storing my belongings. The second day once the move was completed I and a family member were trying to get everything organized and locate several items misplaced in the hectic move and were accused of loitering, we were there in total maybe 2 hours,despite the companies own website and app recommending organizing and inventorying your unit. By the end of the 2nd day I was notified by a notice taped to my unit door that I wasn't going to be renewd on the 1st of December and had to get my belongings out of my unit by the end of the month. Ok, no problem, I don't care to do business with you anymore anyway after the harassment and discrimination I have endured. Daily or near daily trips to the unit for a quick drop off of one box or bag and pickup of another occured for the next 4 or 5 days with me tying my service dog to the fence outside to placate the unhinged manager and hopefully quell the harassment. To no avail. Even her boyfriend living there with her has been regularly joining her in harassing me and including his two cents despite him having no affiliation with the company or business interjecting himself in the dialogue. It honestly made me feel threatened as it seemed the manager was getting him to join in to intimidate me or make the odds 2 to 1 in her favor. Then yesterday I was working on finding several items misplaced in the move after putting it off to avoid any more discontent and harassment from tweedle dee and tweedle dum I spent a couple of hours in the morning from roughly 7ish till after 10ish working on searching for and locating a few important items as well as consolidating and organizing boxes and bags so as to be ready for the upcoming move from the unit in two weeks. I'm 5'6", bad shoulder's from years of hard work and play. When the unit door is open enough for me to enter if released it falls shut or nearly shut. If I painfully shove it higher it rolls up out of my comfortable or safe reach. As the light in the unit doesn't work and I didn't want to get caught in the dark if it fell closed I slid a piece of furniture about my height under the door to keep it open and let light in. At least Twice while in the unit the manager came by and bashed on the door,which was held open by a piece of furniture or other items as I moved and organized things but always open and never closed, scaring the dickins out of me as I worked in the unit. Over half of my time there that day was spent online chatting with a useless "customer service representative " regarding the continued harassment and discrimination against me and my service dog. When leaving later after getting zero help or resolution from customer service interaction I was ran down outside the gate by the manager and once again berated harassed and discriminated against verbally. Returning that evening 3 hours before closing I was livid to discover I had been locked out of the gate and my gate code didn't work and said see manager.... Following a second chat with the useless customer service representative chat person lasting over an hour, making a total of almost 3 hours that day with customer service. Today I was told I'm locked out for "Habitation". A boldfaced lie

Great PR very welcoming

I recently rented a unit from the facility 1425 Austin hwy and the front desk women was great, very knowledgeable and very sweet. She keeps the office very clean unfortunately I can’t remember her name. I was in on the 25th so hopefully you guys can figure out who she was but she made my day brighter by helping me take care of things so I can get ready for my trip! I would recommend this storage facility to anyone because of her wonderful attitude and cleanliness!

Property manager is very nice and always there to answer any questions. I had to switch units from a 10x10 that day she got me into a 10x15. The new app is very helpful but it could use an update to open the gate.

People in the office lock the door and hide so they don't have to do their job. When your a good distance away they come out to smoke and if they think your coming to talk to them they run back inside and lock the door.

As someone who is always willing to use app services but fairly often is just so relieved to be able to call and talk to someone over the phone to resolve more complex issues, I am really glad I went with this place for my long term storage. The manager there, Peggy, is incredibly attentive. She always seems to be there or returns calls within less than an hour. If she can't solve the issue immediately on her end, she always knows how to walk me through the process for doing it myself. Plus she's just always so friendly and kind that it makes me not dread a voice call.

Peggy is a true gem and an asset for Public Storage. She will ensure her customer is happy with the facility, her performance, and any issues that may arise. But be practical, Public Storage is a huge business that follows corporate rules so if she is unable to move mountains it's not her fault. As for everything else she rock n'rolls right on and gets it done. If she isn't walking the facility picking up a trash someone dropped or in the office helping a customer in person or on phone you can catch her wave and smile as you enter the gate since she is always ready to greet her clients. She is awesome in every way as a manager and her dedication is obvious in her actions. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Stopped by this location to inquire about storage units and to see the different sizes available in order to make a good decision about a move that I’m making. Since I cannot take all of my possessions with me, and I’ll be gone on deployment for at least 12 months, I need the right priced/sized unit to store my things until I return. The office and property was clean and well maintained. I spoke to Julie, she was very kind and helpful. She listened to my needs and happily assisted me. Thank you!

I've been a customer since January of 2023, and Peg was able to turn an awful day into a great experience. I was being forcefully evicted from my apartment, and was just distraught, and riddled with depression and anxiety, but from the moment I spoke with Peg, she was able to calm me down and feel assured that it was going to be ok. Even though I was a little late to my reservation, she took the time to show me different units, and even advised me of what I shouldn't store, addressed any questions, and was just all around fantastic. We have such great report now, that even though I could pay online, I'll usually go in person with cash just so we can interact. I feel so much safer knowing that there's a person I trust, who will genuinely take care of not just my belongings, but also me as a person. She is invaluable in terms of customer service, and communications, and really made the experience a pleasant one.

It is so hard to find dependable, honest, hard-working employees these days. So if you have one of these people on your staff I suggest that you make some type of gesture of appreciation every so often to ensure you keep that star shining. And if you already do these things for your employees, complete admiration is yours, in my book. You guys may have read my other storage reviews with all the fancy hightech upgrades that were done on my other units. Well listen here, while I enjoy some of the modern things in life there is one thing that will never have anything good enough made to replace it. And that is the good old fashion, the direct customer experience. I enjoy entering this storage facility and seeing a smiling face and a wave to say hello. I enjoy being able to drop by the office and asking a question and getting a professional, knowledgeable answer. I enjoy the fact that I know I can depend on seeing the same person every visit rather than a barrage of different people all the time. But guys you can't find that type of service anywhere or at anytime anymore. EXCEPT... At Public Storage on Austin Hwy. Now there are a couple but I'm talking about the one tucked away right across the street from Walmart. This place is where you'll find personable services. From the cleanliness of the facility, on-site bathrooms, units being maintained, and the willingness of site management to ensure your needs are being met along with the professional knowledge of her business at hand. I guarantee you'll never experience a better storage rental experience if you desire the laid back, non-tech, good customer service and peace of mind you'll get when you rent at this place. 💫Wherever the owner is, buddy, you have a shining star at this facility. Keep her shining because her hard work, manual labor and knowledge makes her professionalism exude. Stop patting the backs of employees like this and telling them job well done. It's time to show how much these people really are appreciated. How about a block party or something? Lol j/k. Nah but for real I like this facility and the manager really is just as I say she is, a pro.💫

I would NOT recommend this particular location. Access times are clearly posted but if your having difficulty using thier app to exit the gate causing you to be there after 9 pm. Dont expect the onsite manager/ personnel to assist you while they're hanging out with frnds smoking a cigarette two yards away ftom you. I have had a storage unit here for a couple of years. The property is always clean and well kept. The manager, Peggy is always friendly, courteous, and helpful. I needed a copy of all my receipts and she was more than happy to accommodate me. I will be doing business with them for many years to come.
