Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 1415 N Custer Rd, McKinney, TX

I had two storages here, one outside and one inside unit. I moved out of my outside unit but the movers left the lock on the unit. Someone called me and says oh well you will still be charged because the lock is on their and we will send it to collections. First of all I know they can cut locks off because another public storage accidentally cut my lock off and put a different lock on that unit. Then three different people continue to call and harass my phone on yesterday about the payment for this outside unit that is empty but locked after being informed that it was empty and they can cut the lock on the outside unit only. They lack professionalism and common courtesy and should not be dealing with the public at all. I asked for the manager to call me but instead got a call from an unprofessional employee pretending to be the manager. Find a storage with common knowledge and courteous professional employees that know how to assist customers and this is not it. To be called three different times is insane like the first person didn’t leave notes stating that the OUTSIDE storage unit was empty and they can cut the lock off and allow me to lose the lock deposit that was charged. Then to ask for a call from a manager but receive a call from another employee pretending to be the property manager is ridiculous. After this month I will be moving my inside unit to another storage facility as well that has professional employees that will not harass and threaten me about an empty unit. Then I intentionally did not pay my inside unit just to see if they would cut the lock and guess what I got a message with a combination lock code which means that I was lied to about them cutting off the locks. Then today receive a threatening email when I’ve already told them the outside unit is empty and they can cut the lock. Due to this my review is remaining because I was going to change it but after this information, I’m not changing my review because I don’t like being given false information and I don’t like being harassed when I’ve stated the outside unit is empty and I know the lock is removed. What company is that hard up for $93 outside of a company that doesn’t get business because they don’t know how to treat their consumers.

I went to the storage and met a wonderful young man whose name is Pierre! He was patience and had a wonderful smile. I was rush, desperate and couldn’t find my keys! In other words I wanted to cry like a baby because of my stress level! Pierre calmed me down, and helped me with the paper work to have my lock cut off! I want to say thank you for doing an amazing job!

My husband and I stopped by this location at 1415 Custer. We are planning to downsize our home. The manager Pierre was exceptional! Extremely friendly and courteous. He showed us around the property & we were able to get a look at a couple of the units there. Once we are ready to rent we will definitely be coming back to this location!

So glad I chose this location. John has been so helpful and is constantly walking the property checking on things. He definitely stays on top of things and ensures everything is working properly and the property is well maintained. Highly recommend!

John at Public Storage on N Custer helped me with renting my storage long distance !! I didn’t meet him until my husband and I had paid for rent for 3 months!! Beware of the rats! Update: The manager has tried to help and agrees there were rats in the unit. The insurance has said the most they'll pay for the sectional is $250. That's no where near what a sectional costs, and not even the cost of the rental for two months. If I could give this a 0 stars I would! We had stored mostly Christmas decorations, and our daughters sofa sectional in one of their climate controlled units. At Christmas, we noticed a few rat droppings, but no damage so they gave us rat bait stations. We went today to get her sofa and walking up you could smell it outside the unit! It smells disgusting, there's rat damage to all of the sofa sections, there's some type of mildew (maybe from rat urine?) where the sections were stacked together and now the sofa is unusable. We've used this storage until for years, but we're clearing it out now (probably having to dump everything else in it too) and won't be back!

Great experience from the helpful team at McKinney TX, (Custer and 380) location. Premises pristine and always personable staff. Excellent communications and informative updates provided.

The male manager there is AWESOME! He's always out maintaining the property and checking on the customers to make sure they are happy. Coming into his office was like visiting a friend's house. He came to the door and opened it when we were coming up the stairs! I haven't seen such hospitality since traveling abroad!

My experience with PUBLIC STORAGE (#27633) has been HORRIBLE, due to a renovation at the location! This renovation has forced myself and some other tenants to move to other units. It has been an Inconvenience and Unprofessional Process for me. A NIGHTMARE that has not yet ended! As of today, 2/18/24 my move has not been completed!. This move has been going on since 2/13/24 of (1) unit. That (1) unit has now become (3) units. Unfortunately, UPPER MANAGEMENT did not plan this well at all! My final move has been scheduled for 2/26/24. Hopefully this will complete my move.

Tia was absolutely Great!! She helped us with our reservation in Aubrey. It was really last minute and when we got to the storage facility no one was in the office. But, Tia called literally as we were in the parking lot and helped us do everything over the phone and in the app. The way she explained it made It a super EASY process! We were bummed to find out she’s not at our storage all the time!

i had a very high stress move and a lot of issues and i thought my movers secured my storage. i haven’t used a storage before when i checked my unit i thought it was locked. it wasn’t. Tia, an amazing young woman who runs the property as if she owns it herself- quickly discovered it wasn’t secure and made multiple attempts to reach me to try and make sure my belongings wouldn’t be at risk of theft. i wasn’t checking my email and phone sends unknown calls to vm so days went by she didn’t get a response. as a business owner and former long term corp executive i’m plenty aware of the quality, lack thereof, regarding the majority of the workforce. it’s been a long time since i got to experience genuine- actual flawless service with exception to very free institutions. they’re not supposed to secure our units. and she hasn’t heard from me which obviously is very rude and careless. i fully expected when i did make contact with tia that she’d rightfully be short and irritated with me having to clean my mess for a well week. she was so incredibly sweet and helpful and genuine and after the nightmare move i had experienced her warm and caring manor genuinely impacted me and i was proud to see a beautiful young woman in todays world be as professional, caring and genuine as tia is. owner- from one to another - client retention and i’m confident a minimal service recovery % at your property is a direct affect of having her overuse the property. retain her. she’s the reason of any positive numbers, gaines and reductions in recovery losses. if she didn’t tell me how much she loved her clients and management i would’ve stolen her for one of my companies. i still night. but figured i’d be fair and write a much deserved review and look to see is she’s happy next visit before her got myself good job boss tia - you’re doing a great job and you need to be proud of yourself. you will do great things with the work ethic you possess thank you for being you!

The elevator in their building has abruptly ceased operation on multiple occasions, posing a significant safety hazard. I found myself trapped inside the elevator and was only able to exit after a considerable amount of time had elapsed. Despite having resided in the building for nearly a year, I am now compelled to seek alternative accommodations in light of this incident. Upon contacting customer service, I was informed that no refund or prorated refund would be issued, as I had already remitted payment for the current month. Such a policy is patently unjust!

Their Elevator stopped working all of a sudden a couple of times. It's so dangerous. I was stuck and after some time I managed to get out. I have been there for almost a year now but I wanted to move out after this incident. Called customer service and they said since I have already paid for a month. There is no refund or prorated refund. It's a very unfair practice.

I called this location and spoke with TIA, she didn’t waste any time to help me in bringing my rent down to the normal price. She’s awesome and very helpful. I’ll recommend this place for people because they have the best customer service in the person of Tia. She’s a blessing!

If I could give Public Storage zero stars I would. We rented from All Storage and were very happy but when Pubic Storage bought them it all went downhill. They poorly communicated the acquisition and change in billing and instead of going the extra mile, they cut my lock off and put theirs on, basically holding my belongings hostage. When I came to straighten it out, they were unapologetic and refused to even replace my lock that they destroyed. They have raised the price numerous times since then and have gone from $150 to $227 on my last bill. I finally moved out and can never reach anyone at the facility to ensure that my account is canceled. Avoid this facility like the plague!

We got a unit that had a roof leak. Public Storage addressed it quickly, and upgraded our unit for the trouble. The process was quick and easy thanks to Kelly, she had great customer service.

Drove half an hour to here around 4 pm on 5/8/2023 and there was no one in the office. Waited half an hour and called the customer service and not able to reach the property manager. So I had to leave.

Another terrible experience here! Moved out on March 31st and received confirmation via email and even received a phone call. However on April 1st these jokers charged my credit card for another month. After calling and talking to them, they mention that all they can do is issue a credit and then a check after 2 to 6 weeks. Are you kidding? The year is 2023 and this is the archaic garbage we have to deal with? To makes matters even worse, I was told by their customer service person that in order to prevent this from happening again that I need to go down to the office and talk to them about removing my card from auto pay. There's no other way to do this? This company is complete trash and I will not ever use them again. Terrible.

I had a 15x10 unit which was not that size , gave a good price to sign you up then double the cost few months in, access is very limited zero help from the on site staff if they ever show up, there is always someone blocking you access to the climate units and no one cares

I'm an HR director and I would have fired on the spot the employee Elizabeth after how she treated my wife and I! It's my second time at this location after I moved from cubesmart for bad customer service! Little did we know we were about to encounter the worse customer service experience in years. I rented a uhaul and we entered the covered entrance there was another truck that was blocking the main path I pulled to the right and followed the rules as I was instructed from the beginning, I was unloading boxes while this employees comes at us that I needed to move immediately, I stated camly the other truck was blocking and she needed to tell them to move , she said they are there because I said so! ! I Calmly said wow OK let me unload some boxes and I'll move , she said no you are moving now or you will have to leave ! Then she has the odasity to raise her voice at us. I moved as she asked rudly and she kept arguing with my wife , my wife was calm and asked her how come we have to follow the rules and others don't. She told my wife it is what is, The other people in the truck blocking were a white couple, we were Hispanic, I don't ever play the race card but this lady was obviously breaking the rules and allowing the white couple to do what they wanted. She then said she was calling the police , I said I did nothing wrong do what you need to do, Prior to HR I worked in law enforcement so I know my rights. Then while I went to the 3rd floor to unload I left my boxes in the hallway unattended! I knew my wife could explode at any moment as to how we were being treated, after we tried to go upstairs again to finish unloading she blocked my code and we could not enter the elevator. Then we proceeded to go outside to wait for the police while i also tried to call corporate, the police got there and i spoke with the officer. I explained the whole situation, factual situation to him. He said he was sorry and that I needed to call another manager so they could help me out but obviously since that lady wanted me out of there he just had to go and see what was happening. He told me good luck as he smurked as I'm sure his interaction with that lady was not very good as well she just wasted taxpayers money! I tried to call the number for public storage and was not able to get a hold of anybody for a while I called another location. And spoke with Latasha another site manager I explained to her the whole situation she apologized she was amazing she said she would contact the district manager. So they can unblock me so I can enter my unit that I paid for,. We were shocked as to how a temper tantrum from a supposedly professional was costing us now money because we waited over an hour for them to unlock our code to enter our unit so I will be coming at public storage to repay all my extra expenses, she was so unprofessional and with threats immediately. This lady was extremely fortunate, I was extremely tired from the move as I would have put her in place and treat her just lie she treated us, as I do not tolerate anybody treating my wife that is a cancer survivor that way! I'm waiting still to talk to a district manager to explain my situation. I want them to pull cameras and see exactly how we were treated. I don't want to ever go to this location again. Unfortunately my things are there. Latasha at the other location was amazing during this ordeal. Sorry for the long story but as a Google local guide I have to state all the facts to make sure that we as customers do not ever get treated like this, the employee by the name Elizabeth needs to be terminated immediately and I will be reaching as high as i need to make sure this never happens to anyone, as I'm sure this lady is used to treat people like dirt. Look at the review from 7 months ago! by another person, same person and same situation! If Elizabeth does not get terminated after this, I blame Public storage for allowing and employee with a record of bad customer service to represent them!

After a terrible experience with a nearby Public Storage facility and the customer service center, we came here and the managers were a pleasure to deal with! They not only helped us get up and running in a new unit, but they helped us get our money refunded from the other location. I really appreciated their customer service and would do business with them again!

I came by this location looking for a storage unit for all of my extra items. I was pleasantly greeted by the two wonderful ladies working there. Stacie and Elizabeth. They answered all of my questions about what I would need and how to fit it in my budget! These girls are wonderful and the place was clean. Probably the cleanest public bathroom I have ever seen for sure! I do plan on doing my business here from now on!

If you decide to rent here, you’ll get an awesome rate, a clean unit, and friendly service, so long as you plan on a temporary stay, less than 6 months. Also, you’ll want get your precious belongings out of commercialized storage as soon as you can before your rate increases to the point of financial derailment and the loss of your valued belongings. Good place to store with climate control and easy to load and unload, all time access safe and very secure place and far most important very clean even after 1 yrs things were inside storage and Kevin was helpful in my move too,

Kevin was great to talk with, helpful, and provided us with a fair price for our needs. Unfortunately, we were caught in the middle of the corporate purchase of the company and ended up paying for another month of storage despite our contract with the previous company (AllStorage).

I love this facility because of Kevin, he is so helpful and knowledgeable he is always willing to go above and beyond. The prices for boxes were really good.
