Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 1515 13th Ave, Seattle, WA

DO NOT RENT A UNIT AT THIS PLACE- there is crazy hidden fees, the first month of renting adds on at least $20+. They are never open/have staff in the office during the times they list for being open. I have been here 3 times during their open hours, all at different times. All 3 times there was no one inside to help. Forget calling either, they never pick up or it goes to an automated voicemail. If you need any sort of assistance, you are completely out of luck- you will be left hanging for weeks before getting an answer, and by then you would have had to pay for another month of renting which is all this company really wants from you. Save your money and find another storage unit elsewhere.

I appreciate that this storage is nearby and easy to get to. It was also easy to sign up and start renting my unit.

Fantastic experience getting into our storage unit for the first time today. Janelle was extremely helpful and the unit is excellent.

Solid storage joint. Never had any problems with the staff. Janelle has been super helpful every time I needed assistance or had questions about the unit or my lease. I rented a rather tiny unit to hold my extra belongings since I couldn’t keep it in a transitory studio apartment I used to get out of my parents house. The unit served its purpose well and my exposure to the company has been a hassle free, set it and forget it type experience for me. Upon deciding to end my rental agreement I simply spoke with Janelle and within the next day received a termination confirmation email. Solid communication, easy setup and termination. Definitely recommend.

Fortunately this is mostly self serve. Staff is rarely available. But the place is clean, climate controlled, and not too expensive.

If you work till 5 in Seattle and can’t get to the storage by 6 then you can’t get to your storage. Pretty much unusable for people that have to work normal hours. The staff is super nice and helpful they are great and it’s clean but the hours are very limiting.

Had an issue regarding my pay and Janelle helped me resolve the issue. She was very professional and quick. Good customer service at this location.

The manager at this Facility is very helpful. Even though I was not able to get the storage unit that I signed up for because I didn't figure the measurements correctly, and the time I showed up the office was closed. I was able to get the storage unit I needed the following morning. The manager is very thoughtful of people's safety and even though she has policies that people have to follow. Her customer service was very respectful.

The only elevator in the storage building is not working. I has to carry heavy items 4 floors up. This is not acceptable for a storage service. What I am supposed to store here? Feathers? Disregard for customers.

Oh man this Public Storage has saved my butt! I was looking for something available NOW and they had a unit available, a deal on the first month, the staff is awesome, and they gave me a great introduction tour - highly recommend! Very happy I found this location.

VERY , very CLEAN ONLY HAD 1 PROBLEM NEED A MAP OF THIS PLACE FOR ITS WAY TOOO BIG . ITS LIKE A Labyrinth I WENT IN CIRCLES FOUND OUT I WAS IN THE WRONG SECTION I HAD TO GO THREW Another DOOR . Lol funny now then I was sweating. When found it also very clean. Only this place opens T 6am and closes at sharp 6pm, Sundays 5pm. No extensions to go there later like after work. Nope . Also the gate closes real fast. If on foot like me I live around the corner put code gate opens and if not fast enough it starts to close . If you think a bull can push ya down look out for the bull gate . I as I said wasn't fast enough gate started to close I was almost in when boxes of mine fell and the bull ate them just kept going like the energized bunny. BUT ITS CONVENIENT . Looks SMALL ON OUT SIDE BUT WHEN YOU Realize THAT IT HAS FOUR FULL FLOORS. WOW I WAS AMAZED . COME TO THIS PLACE You'll LOVE IT.

definitely the worst experience i have had with a storage unit facility. my friends and i were moving out of our dorms for the summer using a uhaul; it took us a lot longer to pack everything up and get it in the truck so we didn’t get there until a few minutes after 6pm. i understand hours are hours, but there was another van waiting for access and an employee was still present; we were clearly distressed and explained we couldn’t come back the next day because our flight was at 7am and needed to be at seatac by 5am (well before opening). my friends and i, and the other van were turned away, even after explaining our situation, and were given no help, exception, or suggestions. the employee there was also very rude and shared no sympathy or understanding, or even explanation for why we couldn’t just take 20 min to store our stuff. we had to extend our uhaul rental from 730pm to 12am, and drove 40 miles out to store it at a relative’s place in the middle of the night. definitely not coming back to this location anytime soon.

**Edit 2023** I left this storage facility because the prices jacked up too often and too much and it was just dirty. I noticed as I was moving out that they began painting the inside. That being said I want to put Kudo's out there for the staff. Derek went above and beyond for me. He was extremely helpful and I appreciate that. ** 2022 - This place on 13th is crazy. It's a little ramshackle looking, could use a paint job and a good cleaning. There are a couple of homeless people living in there. So that makes it kinda scary for me to go alone. Also, their climate control doesn't work. If it wasn't so close I'd store elsewhere.

We had a wonderful check in process at this public storage location today. Janelle gave us a tour of the facility and made the check in process extremely easy and seamless. She also has a great sense of humor and my fiance said she "made my day"

The Store Manager was enormously helpful in solving a jammed door situation at the space. I've been a longtime customer and this was above and beyond the best service I have received from Public Storage. The Store Manager found a way to fix my jammed door in time for me to pick up a few important belongings. Awesome!

This location is convenient and the customer service is amazing. Both times I’ve visited this week once in the evening and once in the early morning, the staff was very friendly and very helpful. They even helped carry my items to the car! Highly recommend this location!

New customer that wanted to see the unit before committing. Got off work early and went to the location around 4:15PM. Called for assistance because the office was locked. Proceeded to wait patiently outside for 45 minutes only to have the office lights turn off at 5pm. This is a terrible way to do business.

This is exclusively about buying boxes. I have no idea about the quality of storage services offered here. Regarding boxes, I've been trying to purchase boxes from 2 different Public Storage locations. Each time I call their customer service line, a very friendly person directs my call to one of their branches. This person knows that I just want to purchase boxes. After the call is transferred, a voicemail comes up stating I must leave a message to get a hold of the "property manager". I left 2 messages, one at each of two different locations, and did not receive a call back in over 30 minutes. I went to those locations because, according to hours listed on Google Maps, they were open. The store fronts both have "we're open" listed on a sticker attached to the front door, but they are not open. If you need boxes, I recommend avoiding Public Storage.

Janelle had helped me transfer to a newer space a few months ago, to where I no longer have to use the elevator, which I love! I also broke both keys off in my lock and she had a solution for me to where I can get in within a couple days! Thank you so much for making the storage experience great! I highly recommend her and this company!

this storage spot is HORRIBLE. the facility STINKS, it's FREEZING, it's DUSTY, and staff issues never in the office during business hours. in fact, it's just locked up with the lights on and a "we're open!" sign. no luck calling during business hours as well, you'll just get a call back an hour later! I also have multiple several safety concerns with where the fire exits are...please tell me the only exit is on the main floor (4th level) bc that's a dangerous. plus, the light in the elevator is out, it's completely pitch black and terrifying, but customers have no other option. tried to use the stairs, and of course, the door of my floor is locked.... literally I cannot stand that I am paying so much for this awful place!! I notice a lot of struggling ppl are living out of their storage here as well, so I guess Public Storage feels at liberty to play as a slum lord and charging exorbitant rates for gawdawful units.

Customer service did a good job and were helpful throughout move in and move out. I was helped by Johnathan at checkout and made the prices simple.

I rented a storage unit, signed the lease, and paid online. I’ve been through the online process before with other storage companies and had no trouble. When I showed up at the PS the code did not work and the office was closed. I thought since it was later in the day maybe they left early. The next day I tried again at an earlier time during their stated business hours and no one was there. I called and no one answered. I’ve now called multiple times and still have not gotten anyone to pick up nor has anyone been in the office. I have wasted two weeks and paid money for a storage unit I cannot access. I just want my money back. I’m disappointed in what I thought was a reputable company.

Johnathon helped me out by making the moving out process simple and easy, also really liked their app as I didn’t have to remember a pin code and could have the gate opened right before I even arrive

Avoid this location at all costs! The security here is a joke at this location. I barely see attendants in the office even during the opening hours. My belongings stored in this location were mostly water damaged due to pipe leaking. The remaining survivors, such as my beddings, pillows, and clothes were all wet and smell like dated urine. (Imagine the smell when you go to one of those temporary portable restrooms in the parks.) Someone seems peed in my unit.

I've had a business storage space here for over three years and they are always very helpful. Coquita used to take care of us here and was out favorite and now Jonathan is really keeping things up!

So many things to share, basically, I got a move out email, after paying for the month. When I called to inquire, they had already rented out my unit to someone. Someone had gained access, cut my lock and cleared out my unit. The only reason I found out is that I got a move out notice. When I called, they were of no help and transferred me to their customer service. They repeated the same thing and told me to call the cops. I would be careful of using this service. Even though there is a passcode to get in, that apparently stops nothing. This is on top of having a broken elevator for almost a year, allowing people to live out of their storage units and raising my unit cost from $45 per month to $110 over the course of 5 years. Nothing improved and now I don't even have my stuff.

Everyone knows moving across states from one home to another can be stressful, but Jon made the experience SO much easier. Every time I called with questions he promptly picked up the phone or returned my voicemail message which was so appreciated. He met us each time we came to move things in or move things out, and always clearly explained the hours and access rules. Every time we interacted with Jon he was kind, professional, trustworthy and helpful. If anyone’s looking for a storage space in Seattle, this location is the one to go to!

Great place! Prices are fair and the staff works to find me the best deal in the building. They also respect my stuff and are super helpful and accommodating even if I am the one who made the mistake. The app is decent too, I just wish I could access my unit a little later in the evening. 5/6 PM close is too early.

Is everyone kidding with 4.6 stars?! This place is a straight up flop house. The elevator has been broken for months and there are more people living there than in my apartment. The place is dark and dirty and rarely has a nasty broken cart to move anything. This is the grossest most unsafe place I have ever used as storage. I started in October last year and the elevator was broken so I had to drag all of my thing (no carts to be found) to the basement past some guy lounging in his unit watching tv on a dirty mattress with boxes of food and clothes everywhere. I’d love to move things my things but still no elevator and I’m a single woman so it’s a lot of work and completely unsafe being stuck in a basement with no way out. No way this is worth more than 1 star. And interestingly, since my review the rent has gone up. Started at $56 and now up to $98. This place is a rip off and will take full advantage after all the work it took to move in.

Rio was fantastic and knowledgeable about the space and supper patient with all my questions. Space is clean and easily accessible. Highly recommend this facility.

I feel compelled to adjust my original review of this location as our storage unit was broken into and many valuables stolen. Though Coquita was indeed friendly, unfortunately this place is far less secure then it’s described in other reviews (likely from the multiple staff frequently requesting guests to leave positive reviews). The storage unit was broken into while gone away for a few months on a road trip. The lock that the staff originally said was perfect to use when we got the unit, later told us they don’t recommend it because it’s easy to pick… that felt incredibly sketchy considering our initial experience being told otherwise. Many valuable items were stolen from parts of the unit that were lodged under multiple boxes and inside drawers. Furniture and large items were taken (skis, golfing equipment, nightstands, tv) and clearly felt like whoever broke into the unit had plenty of time to come and go and continue to take things. Filed a police report to obtain video surveillance but PS wouldn’t release it to us. The insurance PS requires you to buy also does not cover theft if there is “no proof of forced entry.” Since the lock was picked, they refused to compensate for anything. Luckily my partners separate renters insurance covered some, but still incredibly disappointing and frustrating. What’s worse, the staff did not seem surprised nor interested in trying to help find who broke into the unit - as if this sort of thing was typical. On the occasions we returned to start removing what was left in the unit, we also noticed broken/ run down vehicles parked on the inside of the secure gate (abandoned?) and encountered an individual who was having some sort of mental health episode inside near one of the units (no staff around to help). If you value the things you wish to store, I highly recommend going elsewhere. Original 5-star review from Nov 2020: Easy and convenient location with secure parking to unload and pick up from the unit. As a new customer, Coquita was incredibly helpful to find us a unit on the ground floor as she explained the elevator had been down for a while due to Covid, but that they would honor our pricing! Great customer service by her and Hannah who showed us around and gave us her expertise on useful things for packing.

Stay away from this place if you value your belongings. I rented a standard unit here before going on a multi month road trip. I returned to a unit that was fully locked but missing $25k+ of my things. When brought up to the staff, they were very nonchalant and did not seem surprised AT ALL that my things had been stolen. They said “yea, we don’t recommend the lock that you have because people pick them.” This was never brought up when I initially rented the unit and showed facility staff my lock. They wouldn’t release the video footage of the facility to me, so I was unable to take it to the police. The insurance is a complete joke. I was forced to pay for it to rent the place but the insurance refused the claim because the lock had been picked and the unit was not “forced open.” Luckily my apt renters insurance covered a portion in less than 2 days of filing the claim. Overall the experience felt like the location expected things to get stolen, or knew that there were frequently thieves in the facility, but were not willing to take action. Additionally, there were multiple times in the remaining trips I made to remove my items, when I saw transient people inside checking units. Sadly, one woman was having a severe mental health crisis, which I tried to report to the office, but the team was “out” for that time. Will never use a Public Storage again.
