Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 3415 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC

PUBLIC WARNING: AVOID PUBLIC STORAGE 3415 Broad River Rd, Columbia, SC 29210 AT ALL COSTS — RAT-INFESTATION DESTROYED THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF MY PROPERTY I am absolutely furious and disgusted by my experience with Public Storage. What was supposed to be a temporary storage solution (4 months) turned into a full-blown nightmare. I retrieved my belongings—only to discover that they had been infested and utterly ruined by rats. My LG washer and dryer, CHEWED UP AND DESTROYED. Completely unusable! My furniture, and mattresses, soaked in rat urine and covered in feces—which ended up all over the floors of my brand-new home when I brought my things inside, completely unaware of the contamination. Let that sink in: RAT FECES IN MY NEW HOME. After paying hundreds of dollars to store my belongings at what I assumed was a reputable facility, I’m now out thousands in damages and facing a potential health hazard. I paid Movers $827 just to move my furniture in, which was basically pointless because it all has to get removed and replaced. When I confronted the facility they told me because I did not opt for the insurance I could only get back what I paid in which was a little over $200. Insurance covers earthquakes, fires, flooding etc... a RAT INFESTATION is a BIOHAZARD!! This is disgusting, inexcusable and due to negligence by not properly exterminating. Public Storage has not offered any resolution to the issue with my belongings or the belongings of others who use this facility. These are not ants or roaches which would still be disgusting. RATS SPREAD VIRUSES AND DISEASES!!! They start PLAGUES! I asked the storage company to at least cover the cost of sanitizing my carpets and replacing my son's mattresses, they refused. This facility clearly does NOT maintain sanitary standards, nor does it care about the condition or safety of your property. No warnings. No accountability. Minimal reimbursement. Just silence and filth. So unless you want to haul contaminated furniture into your home, destroy your appliances, and risk the health of your family, DO NOT USE PUBLIC STORAGE! This issue was taken up the chain. If they don't care about a RAT INFESTATION at this location, they don't care at any of their other locations.

Life is great, especially when you have great people helping you out, Brandy and Bridgett.

Horrible place. They have a serious rat problem. I should have looked at the negative reviews before trusting my stuff with this place. Please do not put your stuff in here unless you want rat poop and pee everywhere.

Worst place! They have rats everywhere! They said a guy comes out every week but that is a load of crap. If that was the case there would be no rats or not as many rats. They got to everything in our storage unit. They covered our stuff with rat pee and poop. They chewed up my furniture and got to my kids baby wipes. Insane. Why does this place have 4.6 stars? Terrible place to put your stuff. Going somewhere else next time and never using public storage again.

Rats invaded our storage unit and they did nothing to help us. When we first got the storage unit, nobody mentioned to not leave food in the storage unit because it attracts the rats. Also, no one mentioned the insurance that you can get to protect your belongings. The website didn’t even have that option. Worst storage place. I recommend storing your stuff elsewhere or at least in an inside storage container. Never using public storage again.

NOTE: THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE 3415 BROAD RIVER ROAD, COLUMBIA S.C LOCATION In April, We had a bit of a hard time accessing the actual building where the unit was as they neglected to give us the code to get in, and we didn’t know that if you get through the gate during business hours and attempt to leave AFTER business hours, the gate doesn’t open!!!! The customer service phone number is useless after hours as just goes to a voicemail. We were literally trapped at the facility until a very nice woman from across the street at another Public Storage location came over and moved the gate for us. On August 19th, when we picked up our USC student’s belongings in our small 5x5 unit, we found dead water bugs everywhere, in the hallway of the building and in her unit as well. She was freaked out and threw many of the items away. We have since cancelled the unit and will try to find another one at the end of this school year and hopefully not have the same issues. PS the rate of $30 a month went to $42 a month in only 4 months of having the unit

These are the nicest storage facility people I've dealt with. Beth is absolutely awesome and great at what she does.

Easy access to unit

It was a very turn-key operation. My only disappointments were: 1) The app didn’t open the gate for the site. I had to use the access code. 2) Looks like the insulation in the ceiling in my storage unit is beginning to fail. The failure isn’t very far along, though a good storm may do the job.

I’m so glad I came to this public storage. Mrs. Debra and Mrs.Beth were nice and helpful. The information they gave me as so informative, I know I’m in safe hands. Come here if you need a safe place for your things!

Do not rent here, rats ate all of our clothes and the warranty is a scam, it only covers $250 of damage, we lost all of our clothes and our kids baby clothes 🤬 beyond furious with public storage!!!

All of the staff are friendly and the units are very secure 🔐 and well maintained. Had units there since 2020. No issues!

Tina is a new manager here and she made my experience wonderful! She is kind and helpful, and willing to research needed information to supply quick and complete answers. Phenomenal lady and great experience!

Safe place to keep my belongings. I had no issues the entire 7 months I had my things in storage. Lori was AMAZING! She helped me the entire time of my stay, and even helped me with moving out. She made the entire process very easy for me and because of her alone, I would recommend this location to anyone I know looking to store belongings. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the rate. I initially paid $44/month when I moved in. It went up to $64/month about 2 months before I moved out. Otherwise, everything was a great experience! :)

If you are looking for a great place to srore your family's most prize possessions this location has a staff that is amazing. I don't go to the location often and have been doing business with them since 2014. They go beyond to the call to make you feel like they really care. In this day and time with all that people go thru it's good to know that there are companies still out there that have an amazing staff.
