This would be a one star if not for the staff being friendly. I have had a problem with billing every single month. The first few I had it on autopay on my credit card but their system wouldn’t work with the card. Last month it happened again for the third (?) time in a row and charged a late fee. I went over and switched it to my bank account and moved money. I said I was trying not to have to do that because I am paid the 3rd not 1st and didn’t want it going negative. I was assured it wouldn’t go negative and they would just retry after the 3rd if no funds. I was also told the $20 late fee would be held off until next month and could be paid then. They charged me the next day causing my bank account to go negative. I called and asked them to reverse it. They said they would. Never happened. In that same call she said she was removing the auto pay (I was going to suggest the same) just to be safe. It was not removed and my account went negative again because of them charging me on the first of this month. That is two times in less than 20 days. I go over and ask them to reverse the charge because it isn’t authorized for auto pay and I am not paid until the 3rd. The man working is nice and helpful and says he will. It is not for many many days. The third comes and the money is still not back so I figure he forgot. It still shows the charge from the 1st and because it isn’t reversed, I move on. I get an email saying I didn’t pay this month and have a late fee again. I go to look and it was refunded. It took a week. This billing issue is more of a headache that having the storage at my house and the fees from both ends are costing me almost as much as the unit itself.
We will be moving our things back to my house ASAP.

Have been renting a unit for a few months now. The other day I had an issue come up, and the worker there (named Kim) went WAY above/beyond to help me out. I can honestly say that have not been this impressed with an employee of a business in a very long time. Shout out to Kim ✌️. Hopefully the company values her, bc I have a feeling that she probably gets job offers (or people trying to poach her) quite often. Public Storage (black lake Blvd location) gets 5/5 stars from me because of her. 👍
Came back after 6 months and the entire building (and my stuff) smell like mildew. No human on site to talk to, just a horrible corporate customer service line. What kind of Climate controlled storage is this?
Edit to add: the manager finally calls me back days later and asks me to take down this review without any actual resolution. Nope! Run a business properly and you won't get bad reviews

Before Black lake, I was not fond of Public Storage. It was mediocre, minimal service, etc.
However, The manager, Kim, has single handedly flipped my opinion on its head. She was helpful and understanding. She went above and beyond to help us. She showed me that people are still dedicated to their work and helping people… I will be doing business here again.

Went to my storage unit after several years, to find the most caring and helpful attendant there. Recently my wife and I had to move out of our apartment and move our belongings into a storage unit. There was a gentleman there by the name of Ian who made our experience very delightful. You went out of his way to help us and even helped us back our moving truck down the driveway to our unit. He was very polite and answered all of our questions quickly. I was even having a bad day and this experience quickly turned it around. So once again, I would like to say thank you to Ian for being a great help to us. 5 stars is not enough for this 6 star employee.
I hate having to be the one to leave a bad review, but this storage lace has caused me a lot of unnecessary hardships today.
I made my reservation online and planned to go into the office to pay and take a look at the unit before hand to make sure it was the right size and to familiarize myself with the property. I've had so I know that being lost and frazzled is not a good combo.
I called the office around 4pm, no answer. I called three times and left messsges. I then went to the office at 4:30pm since I couldn't get a response . The website clearly states the office is open until 6pm. The office was dark and closed with no sign that gave a number nor informed me that there was someone working.
Needless to say, I'm now stuck unable to get into my storage until morning and it's pouring rain .
Now I have this problem on top of the already stressful move....

I was a bit clueless as to what I needed when I arrived, Kim got me the perfect sized unit, helped me with online setup. I could not of been more pleased with the level of service I received. I had been meaning to write a review for a while and was reminded yesterday when I visited and found her helping a customer a few units down picking up pieces to the largest box of Legos ever, that had spilled. She could have easily just walked on by, but didn’t! When I was leaving I stopped by the office, and guess who is sweeping up outside, you guessed it. I rarely see customer service to that level anymore. Great job Kim!

Easy and helpful! I originally rented a unit that would’ve been difficult to back out of with a long trailer but planed to make do, upon hearing this Kim helped change my unit to a far more accessible one for my needs at the same rate! She was very helpful in showing me the layout of the property and how to access my unit, the halls are clean and easy to navigate, and the trollies helped a ton with moving!
The first day after I filled my unit, I forgot to put a lock on, the next day Kim put a temporary lock on so my belongings would be safe till I was able to lock it myself. Very kind, quick, and helpful service!

Super friendly informative and professional. I worked with Kim to get all setup with my unit here. Kim was a delightful to work with. She helped me finalize the unit size and ensured all my details and paperwork was solid.
Later in the month I worked with Kim again when I realized would be storing more then I had initially thought. Kim guided me through the transfer process so I was all prepped when I came in to work with Jessica to make the transfer complete and update my contract. Jessica made is easy sign out of my old unit and into my new unit!

Attendance in the office were super helpful and patient. They helped troubleshoot an online issue which was keeping us from being able to rent the proper space. Once it was sorted out they were around kind and efficient and getting us access to the space we needed. I absolutely recommend this public storage.
I had a great move in experience. No complaints there! However, a couple months after moving in, they raised my rate 41% without so much as an email saying they were doing so. When I called, they told me they had sent a letter (to an old address). Not sure why I wasn’t notified by email too (we live in the 21st century after all). Either way, I went with them for the lower rate, and to have it increase so massively, so soon after move is unacceptable. I’ll pick another company now. Never going back.

Have been trying to pay our bill 2 separate time when it's supposed to be open and there was no one in the office to pay so know I have to pay a late fee please get on to your employees about being on time if I would have waited for someone to be in the office I would have been late to work this is not ok

The service here is outstanding. When I walked in I was greated with a smile and a warm welcome by Kim. She was able to answer all of my questions and explain everything to me with great patience. She showed me around the facility and made sure I was able to use my codes and explained the mobile app.

As strange as it is to compare them, this is one of it not the best and nicest public storages I have had to panic put things into. There was an error in planning and they did all they could and more to square us up and handle the situation. Kim took care of us and more. Excellent service!!!

DO NOT PUT YOUR STUFF IN THIS STORAGE UNIT!
My husband and I have had a small unit here for about a year and a half. We don't check on it often as it has seasonal things and other misc items that are being held while we are house hunting. After our wedding we planned on putting the decor in there until we are able to sell it. When we arrived everything seemed normal but our key was not unlocking our lock. The employee on site came back to see if there was anything she could do but ended up saying a unit right next to ours was broken into and rifled through about a month and half ago. The man was cutting locks and replacing them with staged locks so nobody could tell which ones were broken into. Since nothing was stolen from the mans unit he did not file a police report. The building did not even notify us that their was a possible break in to our unit. We were told the manager would be in the next day to cut the lock and we requested to be called when they arrive so we can be with them when the lock is cut. The next day I did not receive a call and eventually called in myself to be told the manager already opened the unit without a call. Once we arrived we immediately saw our unit was destroyed and our bikes, camping gear, and many other more important priceless childhood memories were stolen. We were then told they 'think' they know who did it and kicked them out but still did not file a police report because they had no proof. The manager then told us the auctioned off his unit soon after. All without even telling us, so we could have been on top of it earlier or even seen if he was holding the stolen goods in his unit. There are many other units that also were never notified, there reasoning being they 'didnt want to cause panic'

Lena, was the most help I've ever had from anybody at any source facility I've never rented from she was polite courteous help me out very sympathetic with my situation did everything she possibly could even stayed late after hours too make sure that I was taken care of and that my stay here was going to be a good one.
