We signed up for a unit online, selected a time to pick up our keys, and showed up to find the building locked and no one there. The times they have available on their website apparently don’t correspond to the hours that their employees work.
Dennis was super helpful and understanding to my situation.
Thank you Dennis
As one of the many unlucky individuals who had their storage unit broken into recently I write this review as a warning to those who are looking to rent here or are currently renting. Last night I received a phone call from an “Unknown” number that left a message saying there was an urgent matter regarding my unit. When I got a hold of someone at the front desk, I was told that there had been suspicious activity in the building, somebody had broken into my unit, the police had been called, and that I should come down ASAP to check and see what, if anything, was missing. Over the phone, I was given very little information about what had happened. I did not appreciate how cryptic the staff were treating this issue. I understand that there is certain information that can’t be disclosed over the phone, but answering simple questions like “When did this occur?” and “How did they get into my unit?” falls into the category of items that should be disclosed to the individual.
After arriving to my unit, I saw that it had been ransacked. Larger items had been thrown around and bags had been cut open. I felt very violated. I tried to get more out of management while I was there, but unfortunately, I was given limited information. I learned that the individuals who broke in had strategically pried the door open at the lock, allowing them to open the door to about waist level. They didn’t have to remove/cut the lock, cut through the grate that covers the top of the unit, or cut through the sides. I’m not sure if the thieves closed the door behind them to cover their tracks, or how management knew that my unit had been compromised. That information was not disclosed.
I had learned from others that got their unit broken into (not management) that this has happened before and that it is a relatively common issue that has occurred in the last year, which was not disclosed upon me renting the unit. The building appears secure with a code required to access the front door and access the elevator to only the floor at which you are renting a unit. However, I have dropped items off late at night and noticed the automatic doors to the front of the building having issues closing. Management is aware of this issue. While there are cameras visible around my floor, I haven’t been able to locate them on every corridor, leaving me question if my unit is always monitored or in view of a camera.
I walked away not feeling comfortable with my items being stored there, so I left with the items that I could. I understand that there are always risks with storage units, but if a problem continues to occur something needs to change. I believe that management needs to be more up front with what they are doing to improve security and prevent these events from happening in the future. Whether that’s surveillance, better screening and physical verification for new renters to avoid fraudulent renters, upfront communication about when these events occur that disclose the information they can communicate to their tenants. View this as a warning if you are a future or current renter at this location.
I got great help from Dennis to extend my current rate. I highly recommend this place.
I got a unit with them over a year ago. In that time I’ve heard of a few break ins but tonight it happened to mine and several other people’s units. It is clear that someone went through my belongings, tore through bags, cut off tape and what was covering my TVs and couch. Someone with the unit two down from mine had someone break in and cut open 6 of his 8 bags. A girl was talking to the police about how valuable things were stolen from her unit.
The office called us from an unknown number (that’s literally how it appeared when they called us, no number just “unknown”) saying “this is public storage. There’s been an urgent matter involving your unit. Please call us back.” Now obviously they were busy making calls to all of us and dealing with the police so Im not upset about having to call 10+ times anxiously trying to figure out what happened and how bad it was.
It wasn’t until I got there where they again said it was urgent and that “something suspicious” happened outside of, around or to my unit and I needed to go up and see if anything was missing. It occurred to me that it seemed they were being intentionally vague as to what happened but finally I was able to get out of them that the suspicion came from my units door being popped off the railings. I’m not sure the reason it was so difficult to get that out of them, but I had to ask several times before they told me.
This was not the first time this particular public storage has been broken into but it was the first time mine was. Since moving in they have raised my units price 3 times. It was originally $140 a month to now over $249/month. They have raised the price almost $100 a month in about a year.
The building is nice and seems cleanish and new. Climate controlled. Requires unique codes to enter the building and when it’s past open hours (usually open until 9pm) and the same code is always required to use the elevators. They say there are a “ton of cameras” so I would assume they’d be able to figure out who was breaking in using someone’s unique code to get in and up with all those cameras but when I’m walking around I don’t see any cameras. Not in the hallways, the units, and not in the elevators.
Definitely did not want to rent after talking to them on the phone. Very rude. The lady seemed like she hated her job and shouldn’t be there.
Dennis is a very helpful and such a patient person. He helped me through transferring all cancellations from one location to this one although he seems so exhausted and busy but I am really appreciate his service and professionalism. Thank you!
All of our stuff was destroyed by rodents. They ate through our boxes and droppings and urine destroyed a good chunk of our furniture. That does not even start with the clean up/smell dump loss we will have to take. On top of that we were with them for a year and went from $250 a month to almost $400. Basically was paying for a rodent infestation.
Unfortunately, I have needed the services at the 221st St Issaquah Public Storage for about 4 years now as I've navigated the death of 3 family members. During that time, I have had consistently courteous, professional, and timely assistance whenever I've had a question. I have had particularly good service from managers Blake and Dennis who have been able to advise me and resolve my issues quickly. They are both definitely deserving of 5 star reviews!
The only reason for the 4 stars is the randomly increasing monthly fees. I assume most people use this for much shorter term storage than I have required, so probably don't experience so many of these.
This place is a joke, had storage for ONLY 4 months and was emailed with a rent increase from $190 to $257 I am moving out of this place. Price gouging at it's finest!
We have a unit here. Always clean and friendly staff.
Issaquah storage has rats that poop on your stuff, figured this out on day 1 of my rental. According to another person, they also chew your stuff. I haven't gotten my stuff chewed up, just pooped on...a lot
Blake (the property manager) provides EXCELLENT customer service! Clean facility, easy move-in / move-out, and good pricing on the unit! Thank you!
Very well lit and clean, climate controlled great location and super convenient. Blake is so helpful and knowledgeable/ friendly
Called and said I would need access to my unit on Christmas Day, and was told it would be no problem. Show up to get into unit and can’t.
The guy at the front office was so nice & helpful, the facility was clean, and if I were picking a Public Storage facility, this would be it!
UPDATE:
The refund never came either and its been over a month.
Rodent and insect infested property at least on floor 3. Pretty disappointed in this location. I have rented with them before and other locations in the area multiple times over the last 6 years. Haven’t had many issues until I recently (6/2023)
When I first came in to pay the reserved amount and get the unit information, after paying, the unit they took me to wasn’t cleaned out and the door was broken. They told me I couldn’t move in but it would be fixed by that day or the following. It wasn’t and they didn’t have another unit available. They wouldn’t refund and told me to wait. I did. A week and a half later I get moved to a different unit (and charged a moving fee…..) whatever.
Didn’t have time to move in right away since I work and had allotted the last two week to move when the door was broken. Fast forward two weeks. I’m finally able to start moving items and find that there are hundreds of ants everywhere in the hallways, on the walls, and trailing into various units. I go to mine and find a few ants and rodent/mice feces on the floor and shelf. I immediately called and notified the office of the issue and me not being able to move in. They called back a day or two later saying they would “launch an investigation”. Have been trying to get in touch with customer service for awhile and finally today heard they would process a refund for 1/4 of what I paid. They told me I could file a damage claim through the insurance but since I was never able to move in, there is no claim to be filed. Issues happen and I totally understand that. But to not right the wrong or take any accountability as a business and property is low. Definitely wouldn’t attempt to rent here again.
David was extremely helpful today. Thank you!
David was very helpful! The process was super easy.
Cameron went above and beyond to help me over the few days that my family was getting our unit set up and we were moving. He was diligent, kind, informative, attentive and able to offer assistance when needed. Outstanding customer service.
Cameron, at this location, is very helpful and polite. I am a customer, for many years. Thank you
Cameron was professional and polite. He assisted in showing my family and I a facility that is clean and appropriate for our needs. We are looking forward to storing with him at Public Storage.
Cameron greeted me in a friendly, professional manner. He answered all my (many) questions in a clear, understandable way. Cameron walked me through the steps necessary to download the Public Storage app, and patiently waited while I tested it a few times. From a customer service standpoint, Cameron hit a home run! I commented he must have worked there a fairly long time as he was knowledgeable, smooth, and well-practiced in delivery. I was surprised when he told me he was still a newbie, with just a few months with Public Storage. He obviously enjoys working there and helping people. If Public Storage were in a sports league, Cameron would be a top contender for Rookie of the Year; he scored big for his company, as well as for himself.
BTW, the facility was clean, well lit, and tenant access seems excellent while maintaining security.
Google says to add photos. So here's one of my three-year old cat Kiki, watching video of herself playing, and trying to join in; Benny, a 16-year-old trying to get in his 16 hours of shuteye; and the neighborhood bobcat posing for a photo.
Blake is super polite and very helpful!!
Cameron the property manager was very helpful and patient during a very stressful move for me.
Sooo hurt by how this location handled my personal belongings that were left after the auction was complete. Would NOT recommend. Spend the extra cash and get a POD storage instead
Great customer service and very clean place easy access
Doug was very friendly and made the sign up process easy. I would recommend renting a storage unit here. The mobile app for access is also very easy to use.
Doug was very helpful and pleasant. Very easy process and the facility is clean!.
Dennis made it so easy to transfer units for my elderly parents and was very kind and patient with the whole process.
Attention for Auctioneers!
This location is creating a fraud and scam you easily!
The location is limited by time even more Tuesdays and Wednesdays they are closed. They also not provide you extend time because what they need that you have as less time as possible to rent their units, it's how they makes money! This is poor choice they do to lose any help to clean they units for them in near in the future! I am high disappointed with the rule, structure, and management they provide! Zero stars 🌟 and good luck with your dishonesty ....
Blake helped me out to switch to a different size unit. He made it so quick and easy and is really friendly.
Easy to access the facility and secure.
Everything is is good and clean, but my problem is the in less year my bill has gone from $135 a month to $219 a month. That is outrageous and not cool
Blake is kind and showed me how to use the tricky elevator :)
