Gosh, what a breath of fresh air Kevin was to deal with! Friendly, knowledgeable and professional!!!
Called weeks ago to cancel our unit - left a voicemail with my callback number and no one reached out.(I got sick and completely forgot to follow up again…) I went by their office during office hours and the doors were locked with the lights on. I tried calling and no one answered. They don’t ‘pro-rate’ the units so even though the payment is due on the first and I requested a move out date (finally saw that option online 🙄) of the 4th they can’t refund me for the rest of the month that won’t be used. The price of the unit went up twice since we’ve been there (which I believe was only a year…) even though our payment was on autopay so never missed.

I have been using Public Storage in Mechanicsville Va for more than a year. During a very stressful transitional episode in my life I had the good fortune to come into contact with Cora. Miss Cora was here on a very difficult day for me while in my storage unit. She was so nice, understanding, compassionate, and helpful. Every time I come here I am so happy when she is on duty. Always makes me smile, she is a true Angel sent to help me during a very difficult time. I have no idea what you are paying her, but it’s not enough! Give this wonderful woman and employee a raise!!

I’ve had a unit here since they opened. I absolutely love it. The place is always clean and has no bugs or rodents which means a lot. It’s also a safe area. I highly recommend them.
Prices are going up way too much and you get nothing in return for increase pricing? Doors are broken most of the time we try to go in! Where is the value. We will be moving out soon to find something better? DO BETTER

This facility has exceeded all of my expectations so far. The prices seem reasonable and the facility is extremely clean, secure and feels safe. It was super easy to reserve my unit online and it was ready with the lock when I arrived. I didn't have to go to the front office at all. The location was also very convenient with ample parking and space to unload a moving truck.
Ivonne at the Public Storage facility at 8016 Rutland Center Blvd, Mechanicsville, VA 23116, was tremendously helpful getting all my storage needs taken care of. I highly recommend renting storage space at this location and at any other location she and her colleagues oversee.

As long as you don't need any customer service or guidance, all is good. At the Rutland location, Margaret is not a pleasant person to deal with. "Why would you move out and not take your lock?" Isn't helpful all.

Very clean, professional place. I’ve been with them 3 years. I feel safe accessing my belongings anytime.
Don’t expect your quoted rate to be honored more than a few months. If you are storing anything here, make sure it’s something you can easily move when you get an unexpected 40% rate increase a few months in. The front desk attendant was apologetic but informed me that this is their business model. You think you’re signing on for one price but they randomly increase it (significantly!) after a few months. It’s not like this place is full, either. They just assume the inconvenience of moving out weighs the 50$ increase for most people. Personally, I dislike businesses that I can’t trust to honor their own pricing, will be taking my money elsewhere.
The place is clean but the way they increase rent is terrible. This place gives you a deal to get in, hopes you set up the auto-pay, and never notice the rent increases. I rented a unit for $75/mo but they ended up jacking it up to $140/mo within 18 months! The worst part was the way they communicated the rent increase - a small postcard made from cheap paper that looks just like junk mail.
Customer service by Yvonne was quick, helpful, and she was very considerate of our needs. Facilities are clean and up to date. Recommend

Pricing has been a mess since the Public Storage chain bought out the original company. Prices are keep up at ridiculous rates, at a personal storage center business, and one employee has told me all for inflation. Such BS! This company is just as shady as a landlord raising rental costs on homes/apartments because there are no legal restrictions to stop them. If you don't have a unit here I would look elsewhere. I put a few stars here because most staff, including management, show empathy, which is something that many no longer have.

José helped me find a unit that was the perfect size for me and my boyfriend's stuff. The units are very clean and easy to get to. They also have carts that make taking things to the unit much much smoother. Only downside is that you can't access the units after 9pm.

Extraordinary service and clean. One con there is only one elevator and the elevator was down but Nalease accommodated when she didn’t have to.

We began renting here when it was life storage. We liked life storage. They were transparent. Public storage took over with zero notification and started cranking up the rates. We went from paying $60 a month to almost $100 in the span of 5 months for a 5 x 10 unit. Don’t like the company. Don’t trust the company. Will never do business (voluntarily) with Public Storage.
