This particular location, the manager is often not around, and they have just informed me that they often increase their rent when space fills up. So, even though I was told that my rent would stay the same for the life of my unit, it is going to be increased because they don't have as much space left. "Because that's fair market value," they said.
The unit itself is fine and safe, but the customer experience is not as great as I had hoped for.
**the manager called me a week after I posted this to apologize that she hasn't been around and told me that they won't increase my rent for the next few months.**
**edit. The original price of my unit was $115. When I signed the paper work, I was told the price was locked in for the life of my unit. 6 months later, they increased our to $147. I left this review and the manager reached out to me to tell me that the price actually does change whenever they want to, but that she would give me 3 more months of my original price. Now, 13 months after original purchase, the will be increasing to $204 a month. I give a one star review for this, because I was deceived from the very beginning.***
This is the best run storage place I've ever used. The manager is so friendly and on top of stuff and just great. I've had so many bad experiences elsewhere and this place just absolutely nails it.

I was not happy. I went to pay on my storage and 3 storages that I went to. They say they were open to pay and they were closed. You can get In-N-Out of the storages, but you couldn't pay because no one was there the fourth place I went. She was there. I cannot remember her name, but she was very nice. And I could pay my bill and talk to her about some issues I had.

One year update: the plan wasn’t to have my stuff in storage for this long but due to how amazing my experience has been and how safe I feel with my things here Im in no rush to pull my items out. Shaylee is still the best and updates me with any and all updates about my account. Seriously such a rockstar forever grateful for such a great property and manager!! ✨

Great location for me. I own my own business and frequently need to drop off or pick up tools/materials. And Nura, the counter person that helped me today is wonderful! She was very helpful, friendly, and courteous. However, I’m frustrated with the pricing. When I opened the account, my unit was $135. This was a special new renter price for the first month. It went up to $150 as expected. But in the last year the price has increased to $230. And there have been more than a few times that I couldn’t access my unit due to gate problems. This actually caused me to lose money when I couldn’t get the tools I needed for a job. I had also rented a smaller unit that had been broken into and things stolen. There was no compensation for any of those problems from the management. Not even recognition that any problems had occurred. So.... rent at your own risk! Great people working the counter- not so great people making no attempt to keep a long term customer happy.
WELL..... sometimes the squeaky wheel does get the grease! Since my last contact with the staff at this location, the manager has actually agreed to a reduction in my monthly rent! I’m surprised and pleased. Most of the credit goes to Nura, the counter person who was so helpful to me. I wouldn’t have known this was an option without her. Thank you Nura! You’ve definitely improved my attitude and helped keep me as a customer. I hope the management recognizes your commitment to customer service and satisfaction. Thank you again!
Time to update: The management has raised the rent again and again! The charge for a late payment is ridiculous. Just about $60. And the rent has gone up to over $300! It started at $150. So… I ended up moving to a different storage facility where the rent is reasonable and the facility is nicer with more security. I do not recommend this place to anyone, and that’s coming from several years of experience with this establishment. Final opinion- not worth it!
10/10 experience with this public storage facility. Shaylee and Lisa were so helpful and just plain ol friendly every time I was there. Thanks to them both for all their help! The unit was easy, clean, accessible, safe, and there was plenty of parking.

I signed up today for a storage unit at Public Storage of West Valley, and I couldn't be happier with the service I received today. From the moment I reached out for information until the moment I secured my storage unit, the customer service was outstanding.

Yes. I only stay because of Joycelyn and her helpful, friendly attitude. Thank you. They do raise their fees after a few months. Suggest that you pay as far out in advance as possible. Also, look for free month and discounted online rates. They also tack on numerous fees. Bring your own pad lock (some locations require a special proprietary lock purchase) and expect a $25 initiation fee. Ask about costs and access hours up front. This location is SUPER friendly.

*Buy a "round" master lock before you rent or $20 lock fee. Remember that this is a business and not a public service.

Shaylee made my 1st experience with renting a storage so easy. She showed me how to use the app so it can be more user friendly for payments and utilizing the public storage app. My storage space has drive up access and makes it more convenient with loading my things in..was also able to learn they have job openings..all I need is a vehicle. This is the first time I am writing a review of any kind. This is well deserved, because the Property Manager, Shaylee, was outstandingly helpful when I rented a storage unit. I am in Milwaukee, and was having trouble with the website (probably more user error) when I attempted to rent a unit. I called the facility, and spoke with Shaylee. She waled me through the on-line reservation system, help set up automatic payment, help me with the App for my phone - she did everything. Shaylee is one of the best customer service people I have encountered in a long, long time. Thanks for everything Shaylee!!!

DO NOT RENT HERE!!!! TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ANYWHERE ELSE! MANAGER PROVIDES NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHATSOEVER. It is 3:52 p.m. on a Wednesday and the office door is locked and there is nobody available to assist me with anything . Don’t bother trying to call either because she ( the manager) never answers the phone because she is too busy sitting outside smoking cigarettes and when you finally get a hold of her or track her down you’re met with a bad attitude and excessive eye rolling. I have rented multiple storage units through

Told me I had access to my unit but I arrived shortly after posted hours and there was a lock on my unit. I called the property mgr. No answer and they didn't return my phone call until 7 hours later. I never got in. I called to get a refund, thet said there was no lock (which is a lie) and that there was no property mgr on-site because she was working elsewhere. (Their staffing problems are not my problem. They still have to follow the rules.) They refused to refund me. Cost me a ton of extra money.

Lisa who assisted me with getting moved in was so friendly and helpful! She was very kind to help me overcome obstacles with my access code not being generated due to system issue so I could move in as planned without issue. I was at another location (nearby) but had moved out the day prior and wanted to transfer to an inside unit in order to keep my possessions better protected. If first impressions are anything, I would say that I definitely made the right decision to transfer to this location at 3500 South, it was like night and day in terms of the cleanliness of the grounds and even inside the unit itself was immaculate and even had a working light. You can tell that Lisa takes great care to keep the grounds maintained and really cares about her customers. I normally don't take the time to write reviews but nowadays genuinely good customer service is rare thing so I felt compelled to do so. Again, Bravo to Lisa and if you are weighing options between the other Public Storage locations nearby please learn my experiences and choose this one, you won't regret it!
It was the worst experience of my life. Don't ever go to public storage, they are very rude. They'll rip you off take your money from you and then kick you out before you even move in and not give you money back. I would give it 100% thumbs down 👎

They keep it clean and accessible. They even keep an eye out and help secure your stuff for those who might absent mindedly leave the lock inside and just shut the door. Friendly and helpful staff who are anxious to be of service. They are great. Shaylee is fun and efficient.
Shaylee always keeps the place spic and span. She once noticed that we had forgotten to lock up. So she put her lock on our unit then called us to let us know. Who DOES that now days?! We know our property is safe with Shaylee on site.

when i was looking for a storage unit i looked online for the best price. and every single place i contacted the people was really rude and the prices for the size of unit i needed was outta control. i was ready to give up then i seen a public storage ad so i called the public storage on 1829 w 3500 s west valley city utah 84119 and i will say by far the best customer service. they re assured me that everything would be okay and gave me a really awesome price. all of the other places was $190.00+. the staff at this location is amazing and helpful,friendly staff. Shaylee the property manager is amazing as well she is very understanding and will go the extra mile for any of her tenets. she went over and beyond helping me deal with a issue that i had im extreamly greatful that she is the on site manager cuz she makes sure her units are all secure with the proper locks ect. I dont know how to express how very greatful i am for shaylee and all that she has done for me....******Shaylee Property manager

Amazing customer service by Shaylee. We arrived just before the snowstorm and she quickly got me set up to move my belongings into a unit. I had safety concerns but she assured me they prioritize safety and location is monitored by surveillance and gated, which put my mind at ease. After reading some reviews and the possibility of floods causing damages, I was happy to read that they took quick action and contacted the customer to move their belongings before causing damages. Safe to say I picked the right place! Oh and their prices were fair, thank you!

I have never gotten an answer when I've called this location. But I did meet the manager when I wad on site the last time I was there. The facility property was clean. It is also a secure property, with good monitoring on site. I give it 4* because there doesn't seem to be anyone in the office or available to answer the phone.
