The History of Reynoldsburg

Founded by James C. Reynolds, Reynoldsburg was originally named Frenchtown for an early city planner. Settled since the early 19th century, Reynoldsburg has been known for its vast farmland and strong agricultural sensibilities, which helped support growth in its early years. The horticultural achievements of one of its most famous residents, Alexander W. Livingston, are on display in Livingston House, which is also a museum.

Like many areas of the U.S., Reynoldsburg experienced a massive population surge in the mid-20th century. The local population jumped from just over 700 people in 1950 to nearly 8,000 by 1960. Since then, the city has enjoyed steady growth.
