Brooklyn Climate Controlled Storage in Sunset Park

I had the pleasure of renting my unit with Orquidea. She was very kind, knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. She checked the unit with me to ensure it was thoroughly cleaned and constantly checked on me as I was moving in. It was truly a pleasure working with her.
These people at PUBLIC STORAGE are very dishonest. When I signed up for my storage unit in June 2024 I was told that my rate was locked in forever or until I cancelled my unit. Fast forward 5 months later and I get an email saying that my rate is increasing. I have called several times to speak to a manager and keep getting the run around. When I signed up over the phone the conversation with the receptionist was recorded and I want to revisit that recorded conversation when I was told serval times by the receptionist that my rate would never change. I have reached out to the district manager Mr. Lopez and I am waiting on a call back. I will follow up with another review soon. I hope to get this issue resolved amicably and as soon as possible.
This storage facility is amazing. Always clean and always willing to help out any way they can. Lisa has provided great service for me since day one. I would recommend anyone to store at this location.

This is by far the worst storage experience. Hours are limited. The bluetooth app doesn't work. Carts get used up fast. Elevators shut down frequently. Open late and then randomly shut down for "lunch" when there's two employees. In its busiest times, they shut down a bathroom "for employees only."
They need new staff asap
If i can give 0 star I will! AVOID this location if you can! .they try to upcharge you for everything and 0 absolute 0 help or assistance from the employees on site. Im also pretty sure they do not have a/c or bad A/C at 2nd floor ( however they say they do) as every time I go to check on my things the air is so humid and stiff so Im aimed to get the coats out there. They also would like to upcharge you saying they cannot make online reservation fixed and move it the day you wanted and phone support cust rep is horryfying wasted 2 hours trying to fix smallest issue and thry did not manage to resolve it! As well after 4 months of rental they will automatically raise your rent sending you a email notification without any explanation or any warning in advance like 25% up and you will be forced to pay it in my case it is not possible to move as its a studio apt w furniture. But dont fall for the prices as thry gonna raise you 25% up after 3 months! Stay away from this location 5002 !!

Mostly terrible experiences working with this company, including multiple instances where employees misled me. Corporate policies also rife with predatory behavior. Avoid if you can.
From the moment when I entered through the front door, Orquidea greeted me with a wonderful smile and introduced herself. She asked how she could help me, and I explained my situation and what I was looking for. Orquidea immediately started to research and provide me with the current information available and even made suggestions on what would be beneficial. Orquidea then escorted me to view what she had suggested and allowed me to ask many questions, which she answered without hesitation. Orquidea was very sweet and extremely polite. She made the visit comfortable and my decision easier. She displayed a caring attitude and professional demeanor, something well above what I could have expected. Orquidea showed true professionalism in her abilities while performing her duties.

There are never enough carts for customers. Some customers took 2 or 3 carts at the same time and staffs did not help the customer who asked to share one cart, unfortunately. Very disappointed.
I give one star, because as I was employed working with this company for the 5 months I was doing my best to work for this company, reason I quit this jobs I find to much Abuse, I have to do 4 Position for $ 16.00 hours for 40 hours but have to be Travel around other places, can not stay in the same place where I Applied to... I like this job because I thought was just work front Desk but is not like that have to clean until and security to all units that I finders so Dangerous for women to check, I was worried about my safety.. I felt very sad and I got so disappointed, even I thank for opportunity that was given..

Love this location, plenty of space to park, the facility itself is modern and well lit. Got a great deal online and booked my spot seamlessly.
But what made this experience 5 stars was the excellent service provided by Orquidea and Lisa. They helped me tour and look through options with a big smile on their faces, in contrast to competing storage facilities nearby.
Would highly recommend if you're in the area!

If only there was an option for negative reviews this place would get a -10. This company does not know what the word RESERVATION means and they certainly don’t honor them. They offer “reservations” online and when you make the reservation, the website states that they will hold the unit for free and that you have until the move-in date to claim your unit. However, what they don’t make very obvious to you is that at any time during your reservation, they can give the room to anyone who walks in willing to pay for it.
In my case I had a reservation at the Sunset Park location in Brooklyn and the so called “manager” called me the day before the reservation is ending to let me know my move-in time was 2:00 but the reservation was good until 5:00. She asked if I still wanted the unit and informed me that I had until 5:00 the following day to move in to the unit. I told her yes, I wanted it and that I will be there tomorrow. I showed up at 1:30 and was told that my unit was no longer available. Why would she call me the day before to confirm only to give it away to someone else before my move-in time. Couldn’t she at least let the other person know that my reservation ends in a few hours or at least call me back to see if I really was coming on. Needless to say she had 0 resolution for my situation. Horrible customer service. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Avoid Public Storage at all cost! They sold my property for $90 after I told a rep in email I would be paying the rent the following week. The balance was racked up due to fees they added themselves totally to $268. They sold my belongings for $90 and had the gall to ask that I pay remainder of balance. I’m healing from a knee injury and just got back into physically working. I’d understand if the balance was $500 plus. The business model for this company is outdated and should be changed.. it was a poor decision to sell so low when I contacted to pay like I’ve been paying for over 6 months. I was told if I don’t pay it’ll go on my credit. But that’s what they’re going to have to do because they’re no longer getting a penny out of me. I have to start over after what they did.. and still want my money… what am I paying for.. AIR? These contracts are robbery… sell your own items if you can
DO NOT use public storage at all if you can help it!!! "First month $1" doesn't include a $29 one time admin fee, and my rent went up **twice** from $174 (Sept 2022) to $238 (March 2023) to $264 (Jan 2024), which is over a 50% increase in just that time. In case you don’t read the rental agreement closely, it states they can raise the rent whenever/by however much they’d like. On top of this, there’s also $15/month insurance on the unit in case something happens. I called to explain I'm a student having a hard time paying, and they'd only grant me $26 off a month for 3 months. They also barrage you with calls if your rent isn't paid on the 1st of each month, and there's a $47.60 late charge by the 8th of the month if it's not paid by then. OH and the staff is always rude and if you're working 9-5, best of luck with the hours at this location. The elevators are super slow and there’s only 2 elevators for 4 floors of hundreds of units. No cell service also.
Overall, this is absolute robbery and no transparency, the company’s aim is to rip you off at any chance -- try your best to give away/sell or throw out your stuff!!! Junk services can remove large items, even paying for this will save you thousands vs public storage.

Terrible place! Do not use this place for storage. Both elevators are consistently out of service. One elevator is understandable but what type of business would have both elevators out of service during the prime time of the month (end/ beginning) when people are visiting their units the most? This has been my experience for the past year. On top of all this, the front desk attendants have the worse attitude in the world. Recently, when people came to inquire about how they can get items downstairs, a young woman at the front desk responded, "I don't know how to repair elevators so I cant help you". Trust me, don't use this place for storage.
This place is awful pretty much through and through - I gave two stars because they at least keep it clean - but there are only 2 elevators for the entire space and usually one - and occasionally even BOTH are out of order. Carts are pretty scant. Far too many options in the area to settle for this one sadly…

Overall the place is clean and safe. I moved my stuff here because they offered a much cheaper price online than at my former storage unit. I made a reservation online for the lower rent. When I went in person to finalize the rental, I was told the unit was no longer available, that it had been rented earlier that day. They offered me a similar space for a much higher price. I stood my ground and suddenly there were several units available at the original price. Nevertheless the rent went up a few months later, however the price was still lower than what I was paying at my former unit. Don't move here on the first or last day of the month for you'll end up paying your moving crew a lot to wait around for the elevators. They raise the rent about every 6 months. I moved my stuff to a nearby storage facility that charges a lot less and does not raise the rent regularly. So far, so good.

While looking for a unit to store material, I called Public Storage and had the pleasure of working with Chantele. She was very professional and helped walk me through the steps of renting a storage unit. Chantele also took the time to make sure I understood how to properly access the building and answered any additional questions that I had. Need a facility that is clean and has accommodating staff? Elevators are CONSTANTLY out of service. I've been here when both elevators are out of service and you need to schlep your stuff up and down the stairs. To be clear, I don't mean their elevators are down for an hour or two for maintenance... they're down for days and weeks at a time. There was a point when there was only 1 elevator for a solid 2 months. I've even been stuck in their elevators before. The front desk's response? "yeah we know about the elevators. We've got someone coming."
They open extremely late and close VERY early for a storage facility. If you have a job where you work 9a-5p, you'll never be able to access your belongings during the week. If you're OK with that... it might just work for you.
Also - that promising price you booked on their website? It will only last about 3-6 months. In your rental agreement, section 2.2 states that they reserve the right to increase your rent whenever they want, whatever frequency they desire, with no cap on the increase. I booked my rental space with them on August 2, 2022 for $286/month. On December 2, 2022 (4 months later) my rent jumped to $369/month. On September 2, 2023 (10 months after my first increase) I'm now paying $422/month. So, 13 months in, I'm now paying nearly 50% more than my original agreement price.
Public Storage, as an entire brand, is not worth the hassle. Stay away!

They have signs that say "don't hold elevator doors because it will leave it inoperable," but people don't like to read or listen. I came in the other day to ask a couple of questions and the staff was extremely rude. They acted as if I was bothering them at work. They didn’t want to give me their names but I heard the other worker call the rude girl who didn’t even put down her phone, oricida? Needless to say, I won’t be storing my things here.

Don’t let the comments about Orquidea fool you. She begs every person she signs up to leave her a good review… she is the most obnoxious, rude, inconsiderate and unprofessional worker I have ever met. I get that the storage closes at 6, but that should not mean pester and harass your customers to leave at 6. I told her I was finishing up and instead of asking “how much longer” or something of that nature, she tells me how I am now trespassing… it was 6:05. She continued to be rude so I succumbed to her nasty energy and argued back. How did this woman even get hired?! If you like being treated with decency, choose another storage.

I thought it was bad with two SLOW elevators. One of the elevators hasn't worked for over a week. And now they jacked the price of my unit AGAIN.
Also they went from 7p to 6p during the pandemic. I've spent thousands of dollars over the years. Unless you're a business, just get rid of it.

I had an issue with the payments toward my rented space and the manager there— Orquidea, helped me out to the best of her ability, she’s very understanding and was mindful about what my needs were. I am eternally grateful. *two thumbs up*
This location is great however the public storage corporation in general is not. I switched to Public Storage because the other place I used raised my fee to well over $200 for a 5x10 unit. I began with public storage in 2019 at $97 per month, they raised me to $107 in 2020, $145 in 2022 and now beginning February 2023 to $189 for a 5x10 unit!! Ridiculous.
Guess I’m moving out…again.

They just doubled my rent from $61 to $121. The only notification I received was a mailer like it's 1999. I rarely write reviews, but this is unacceptable.

We have the rental for one year. Now they increased $50.00 more and the service of Customer Service is "zero". Everytime we needed a cart, is nobody in the office to unlock. So many people angry just in one day they needed a cart. Thanks! we moved out our things already.

Lisa has provided excellent customer service. Always clean and presentable. I would highly recommend this facility!
Hours are 9:30-6p M-F and 9:30-5p weekends. Closed on holidays. Need to take a day off from work to access personal belongings. There are codes to the elevators. There's no reason why this cannot be accessed outside of those hours. Upon signing 3yrs ago, this was the promotion. Very upsetting.
Locks clean and secure. The late fee multiplies fastest than IRS's. It's turning into extortion.

Lisa is the bomb!!! The place is clean, I have not had any issues with my belongings being ruined, the place is really climate controlled (unlike a previous place I stored at that said they were “climate controlled”)…I highly recommend Public Storage, you will be happy here.
