Terrible storage unit. They make you purchase a piece of trash cylinder lock for $20 - the only lock that fits their units. I have 4 storage units - 3 of the locks are frozen and will not turn. I have visited the facility 3 days in a row and there is no one staffing the office. Additionally, access to the building using the app doesn’t work. You have to get out of your vehicle and use the keypad. They blame it on poor WiFi in the area. When you call them on the phone you can only leave a voice mail - never a live person. On top of all this, the rate goes up continuously. I am vacating this facility as soon as they help me open my 3 units. with defective locks - that’s assuming someone calls me back or is finally in the office. Until then I am their hostage.

The good: Convenient location for me, the facility has carts and bathrooms, and the app is easy to use. The bad: The rent increases are ridiculous. My rate went up about every 6 months with little to no warning, and not by a small amount. I moved in paying under $100 for a 10x10 unit, and after about a year the rate had climbed to $323.95 per month. One increase alone took me from $187 to $251. You are also required to purchase insurance, which adds to the monthly cost. You also have to purchase a lock specifically for their units. You get to keep it when you move out, but since it only fits their units, you are basically left with a useless lock unless you use Public Storage again. The app was easy to use, but the easy-access gate and door features never worked properly for me, so that convenience was basically useless. During a snowstorm, the facility was also essentially inaccessible because the parking lot was not plowed. See photos. I was leaving the area and needed items from my unit, so I contacted management. I spoke with a manager who apologized, said it would be taken care of shortly, and told me he would personally call me once the lot was plowed. By 9 PM the following day, it still had not been plowed and I never received that call. I have since moved out - would not recommend for longer than 6 months!

I am truly sorry I gave you a 5 star rating over a year ago. You keep raising the prices every 6 months to where no one can afford it. Mine went up $100 and many, many multiple units are empty on each floor. You claim to be climate controlled, but back in December 2025 I could see my breath on the 1st floor where my unit is, so how is that climate controlled?? I have no choice but try and vacate as $631 a month is not affordable to anyone!

Posted a great review when I first moved in. Been there well over a year and a half, and it’s been a nightmare dealing with the pricing increases. They consistently promote better pricing to new customers for the same unit that existing customers are in. Forcing me to move out, which I am doing this coming week and moving it into another storage facility, which I was able to lock the pricing in for much longer. Be careful if you’re gonna sign up for a unit in Public Storage. Once you’re moved in, they will raise your rates. They have this algorithm, which is not in favor of existing customers. Instead, they raise the rates on existing customers trying to lore new customers in at lower rates. Horrible customer service, bad business practices. Happy to share real data for anybody interested? Horrible that I feel this way after being such a long time Customer.

This past Sunday (5/3/2026), I purchased a storage unit online at Public Storage in West Creek, and I was honestly surprised by how quick and easy the process was. I was so excited that I packed up my car and headed straight over. When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised again by how easy it was to get through the gates and doors. The app can be a little wonky since service in the area is a bit spotty, but the gate codes work perfectly fine and it didn’t bother me at all. Once inside, I found a cart right away and loaded up my things. Even though it’s a large facility and I expected it to be hard to find my small unit, it was actually very easy. The building was quiet and clean, and I was extremely pleased with the overall condition. When I got to my unit and unloaded everything, that’s when I ran into an issue — the cylinder key wouldn’t fit in the lock. I honestly thought it was user error at first. I called a friend and a family member to try it, and when none of us could get it to work, I realized something was actually wrong with the door. I couldn’t lock up my belongings, which was obviously concerning. The next morning around 9:30, TRACEY completely saved the day. She greeted me right away — happy, kind, and incredibly helpful. We went up to my unit together to see what was going on. She explained that before it became Public Storage, the facility used different cylinder locks that were specifically fitted to the doors. When ownership changed, new locks were provided, but some units hadn’t yet been modified to fit the updated locks. Most had already been adjusted, but a few were missed (which happens!). Tracey took the time to fix my unit right then and there so the lock would work properly. Not only that, but she even checked other empty units to make sure they didn’t have the same issue. I truly did not expect that level of care and follow-through. She genuinely cared about getting the problem resolved, and she made sure everything was secure before I left. I also learned they’re currently short-staffed, with two people splitting time between two locations and doing everything they can to keep things running smoothly. I’ll admit, I was initially very frustrated — but seeing how quickly and professionally the issue was handled reminded me that we’re all human and doing the best we can. Thank you, Tracey, for going above and beyond. I’m beyond impressed with how this was handled and I’m very happy I chose this facility to store my belongings. Highly recommend! Also, shout out to JOHN as well for returning my call on Sunday while the facility was closed. Thank you again!!

Terrible customer service, it seems no one actually works there, prices have nearly doubled if not more since we first started using a unit there. Something is always out of order there; the gate or the elevator. It took days to have the parking lot plowed after the snow when everywhere else was already plowed and I had no way to get to my belongings. On top of all of this; they had an issue with a water leak and called to let me know and all they offered was if I wanted to move units… would I really want to move all my belongings take all the time and energy because of their issue?? No compensation offered for the issue. And when moving out I found belongings of mine moldy, water damaged, with mildew and the back corner of the unit was infested with silver fish bugs. Would stay away from this place. Too expensive for all their neglect of a company. They want top dollar for the worst service.

100% go to place if you deal with the local staff on the ground - which unfortunately in today's Corp world is almost never the case. I couldn't reserve a space at the West Creek, NJ location through the general site due to the site not accepting CC info, but after navigating to JACOB in the office - I was able to get it done tout suite! JACOB was amazing, attentive to my needs, understanding, and bottom line, everything a company would want in a FRONT-LINE REPRESENTATIVE OF A BRAND. He took it upon himself to make a recommendation to expedite my needs that would help his company, and his customer and he got the business done. He further has a recommendation for his Regional that I will leave to him to discuss that would greatly serve his customers... GREAT experience with JACOB, and if I owned my own storage facility, he would be my GM until we owned enough properties to take over as a regional... They're expensive! The remote access through the phone app works sometimes. The elevator has been "out of order" for at least 2 months. This site just recently started offering 24/7 access for a huge extra monthly fee. If you do not have that option, the hours of access are inconvenient for me. Being denied access after 9pm is ridiculous. Midnight would be fine. I was inside the facility way before 9pm but took a little longer than expected because I had to rearrange my unit to make room for a few things and tried to leave at 9:03pm and was locked inside the parking lot. The gate kept denying me access to exit. I called the property manager multiple times and NEVER received a call back. I had to call Stafford PD to come and let me out. That's not the first time I've had to call the property manager for other reasons and I have never gotten anyone to answer the phone, was only able to leave a voicemail but NO ONE EVER CALLS BACK! Same problem when calling the corporate 800 number. If this wasn't a giant chain corporation, I'd swear it was a money laundering front. It's so shady. If I had the time, money, and energy, I would transfer my belongings to another unaffiliated storage company. The ONLY things I LIKE about this place is being able to manage my account online AND the bathrooms are super clean!

Completely dissatisfied with the service at Public Storage. I was excited to be able to store things at the new Public Storage near me. It's in walking distance from my house, clean and I loved all the automation with the app. On my first visit the facility provided me a lock because all the units use a special kind of lock. I had trouble getting the lock to work. The person in the office told me that I needed to just play with it and that the lock needed to be inserted halfway in order to latch. It didn't seem right but I followed the instructions. Ultimately I was able to get it to lock. A week later, I arrived to put more things in my unit and the lock would not open. When I went to the office, I was told that someone would need to come to cut the lock and that it "might be sometime this week." After a few days of hearing nothing, I went to the office. I was told that the district manager said he was not going to come to the facility to remove the lock and that I needed to hire a locksmith (at my own expense). It was obvious the level of service from this facility was not good and I decided I would vacate. That day I hired a locksmith who drilled out the lock and I removed my contents and ended my rental. This is the worst and most uncooperative experience I've ever had with a storage facility and I've rented many over the years. Unfortunate. I really wanted to rent here. I ended up going to a competitor a couple miles away.

★☆☆☆☆ Would Not Recommend – Avoid at All Costs I rented a unit at the Public Storage in Stafford Township (NJ), and my experience was nothing short of a nightmare: Nonexistent customer service. On multiple visits, the onsite office was completely unattended—signs promised an hour wait for staff, but nobody ever showed. Voicemails and phone messages were ignored. Trustpilot Unexpected and relentless rent hikes. The introductory rate was attractive—but within a few months my monthly fee increased significantly with no justification. Late fees were applied automatically when their broken online system prevented payments. Payment system glitches. The payment portal and mobile app often failed to process transactions, forcing me to call or even visit in person. They added a $20 “convenience fee” just for phone payments, which felt utterly predatory. Appalling security and infestations. The unit had signs of rodent droppings—rat feces on my boxes and in the corners. Despite repeated complaints, pest control was never addressed. Insurance issues and reimbursement refusal. After discovering mold and water damage inside the unit, Public Storage refused my insurance claim—not only demanding receipts for old clothing but also citing "limited rodent coverage" as justification. Suspected theft and broken locks. There were reports of unauthorized access where dressed employees or new renters accessed units and stole property—but surveillance footage was either unavailable or never preserved. Reddit Final Summary This Stafford Township location mirrors widespread complaints across the chain: Poor and unresponsive customer service. Hidden or steep rent increases. Payment system failures that trigger unjust late fees. Pest problems and potential for damage or theft. Minimal protection from insurance or refunds. Unless you have absolute confidence in visiting frequently, inspecting your unit often, and litigating for every dollar, I strongly recommend steering clear.

ugh hate that this company took over 😭 we loved the company prior to public storage!! we gave them a chance, first they demanded you have insurance, okay I get it, wanna be safe. Then they claim they would honor the rate at which the company prior to them taking over, 3 months go by now they up the rate? Thankfully we no longer need the space but PLEASE carefully watch and check your bill every month. They increased our 5x5 too $100 a month, although I’ll agree not the worst price, it’s the constant change ever since they’ve taken over we heavily dislike. All they could offer was moving too another unit to get back into an “intro” rate. Would have never stayed with you guys if we would have known the company wouldn’t stick their word. Staff is nice, place is very clean. But we’d prefer our bill too not constantly increase Every-time they decide to sell to a new company.

Although I've always beenvery independant, ive found myself in a position of greater need of help in theses last few years of life than I'd ever dreamed I would. I'm the giver and caretaker. It seems life has placed me kn another role and said "suck it up" you'll learn how to ask for help if it kills ya. Well... I live 360 miles away, am in my 60's, living with a life changing disability & my partner of 45 yrs has dementia.we couldn't be sadder having to leave the beautiful state that's been home for us this past 25yrs, reality is, we just cant be here alone any longer. Safety first. While small in #'s, we are so grateful for the family we have. Blessed we absolutely are. They have our backs, are here forever us and are willing to help. It just happens to be NJ that they live in. Soooo, I bought a Condo in a 55 & up 3 miles from the best brother & sister in law in the world & will soon begin the next chapter. It's the kindness of strangers that can really make a difference. The entire moving process is so overwhelming. Every piece matters. Vickie who manages the public storage units where I'll be needing to use to house some of our things as we begin this new adventure has been just that. KIND. I appreciate you, the information you've past on, your patients, understanding & I look forward to meeting you in person when we are finally physically there. 👍 & 5⭐️'s. The facility is modern and it's nice. But the app is horrendous. The app does not work to open doors, and the large bay exit door does not work properly. At one point, my car was locked in the bay. The access doors and the app need a lot of work; it's disappointing.
