No stars... horrible experience. I HAD to give a star to post this.Looking to relocate our belongings from unit H024. I've sent an all-contacts text telling everyone I know to NOT do business with Public Storage. How do you rent a unit from PA on August 26, 2024, and receive exactly one month later, on September 28, informing me I'm late on my rent, there's a lien on my unit, up for auction! I arrived at the property on 9/28, they had a blue lock on our unit And, I am connected to real estate agents as I am a small business owner and work primarily with realtors who are constantly looking for guidance regarding storage, etc. I am disappointed in Public Storage. A complete letdown.

I initially planned to write a scathing review about my recent experience at this storage facility, but I've decided to frame it as an opportunity for improvement instead.
My issue began last Saturday morning when I visited to transfer my belongings to a new unit. Unable to open the lock on the new unit, I went to the office, which was closed. I called the number posted on the door, hoping to speak with a virtual property manager, but was directed to voicemail. After leaving a message, I returned after the stated opening time of 9:30 a.m., only to find the office was still closed.
To resolve my issue, I visited two nearby Public Storage properties. One was closed, and at the other, I spoke with Patricia, a helpful manager who suggested a technique for opening stuck unit doors. Unfortunately, this didn't work for me.
After several unsuccessful attempts to reach someone, including calls to various numbers, I finally spoke with a virtual customer service agent who told me this facility was "appointment only" and scheduled an appointment for Sunday at 8:30 a.m. I confirmed this appointment through the corporate 800 number later that evening.
On Sunday, I arrived at the scheduled time, but after waiting 15 minutes, no one showed up. I called the corporate number again to file a complaint and was told to expect a response from the district manager by the end of Monday. However, by 3 p.m. on Monday, I still hadn't heard anything.
With professional movers scheduled for Wednesday, I urgently needed access to the new unit. Thankfully, when I visited the office again, it was open. Markee, a team member from another PS facility who was covering the shift, discovered that my unit's lock was jammed. He quickly found me two alternative units with properly functioning locks and efficiently processed the transfer.
The next day, I received a follow-up call about my initial voicemail, but the problem had been resolved by then. Thursday and Friday, I spoke to Markee and Honesty, who answered my questions and guided me in vacating the old unit. They are the reason I'm giving a three-star rating instead of one star.
While my experience was frustrating, I appreciate the eventual resolution. To improve customer service, I suggest:
1. Updating voicemail messages with current office hours and expected response times.
2. Posting clear notices about the "appointment only" policy, if applicable.
3. Communicating any operational changes, temporary or permanent, to keep customers informed.
I understand staffing issues may occur, but better communication would greatly enhance the customer experience and prevent feelings of being ignored or given the runaround.
Terrible customer service and very dirty facility
A while back, the website was down and not able to process payments. After several attempts to pay online, I went to the office to pay my rent for the unit. No one was there several days in a row. I would go by at different times and still no one working in the office for about a week. After reaching the district manager Brenda, who I had to call no less than 10 times to get a response, I was told they were understaffed and only had someone there part time. I gave a list of days and times, and even sent her photos of no one in the office or parked out front. I asked how was I to pay rent if no one is ever there. She suggested waiting until the website was back up and to pay online. Meanwhile, she gladly charged me late fees. I later disputed the late charges and both Brenda and Honesty told me the charges would be removed. I spoke to Honesty several weeks later and she apologized and said it would be taken care of. It's been several months now and still nothing has been done.
Public Storage continually increases their rates. They are constantly updating the terms of service and adding all sorts of rules, fees, fines, etc. I received a new email today wanting to charge me a deposit for a lock due to the unpaid late charges they promised to remove months ago.
For the amount of money they charge, they could certainly stand to make some improvements to the facility. The gate is always open, no one at the office, the outside lights don't seem to work anymore as the place is always pitch dark. There are homeless people living in the storage units using gas heaters and grills inside the units. The office claims that's not true, and as they were saying this to me one of the homeless people walked by with a kerosene tank in their cart and waved to the office.
If you need to rent space, do yourself a favor and rent with another company!

The place is in bad area with lot of homeless people around. My trailer got vandalized. They did not take responsibility and didn't care. I tried to speak with reginal manager and called her about 10 times but never got a call back. They don't want to spend money on cameras so they just have cameras at the front gate. Even after several of their lockers got vandalized.
Place is always very dirty. Gate is broken very often.

It a ok place for storage!! I have never had any problems but the woman that I always see taken care of. It does not put any pride into keeping it clean and you see everybody’s junk out there by the dumpster but besides that it would be a great place.
It’s in a great location. The police precinct is a block away so it’s a great place for storage.
Ever since they went up on my unit just because the back rows are horrible peoples trash everywhere and it’ll sit there for a week before anyone moves it . To be able to get my old price I’d have to move unit & its 60$ cheaper is ridiculous if you go up on the price have a reason & Atleast have the area cleaned

I just recently moved to the area. I came across the storage facility through word of month from a grocery store worker. I'm glad I chose this storage facility. Wonderful customer service that comes with a nice smile. The store manager (Yonie) is very informative and showed me around the lot. Very clean store and lot with reasonable prices, too. Thanks again for helping me out.
Had the best experience today! Besides the location being well kept, Yonie in the office was so helpful. I called about my access code and she was quick to resolve the issue. Once there I wasn’t pleased with the storage and she rectified that quickly also.

To our surprise, the unit was as big as a child's bedroom! An employee working there named Honesty at 9400 S Tryon was able to find us a much larger unit, transfer units and save the day.
