So here we are at a crossroads. The last time I was at public storage a few units were broken into including mine. Public storage did absolutely nothing to help the police in the investigation. Management will also do nothing for you and all they will say is sorry and tell you to file a police report. It took months to resolve and I learned that if you select their cheap insurance it voids and supersedes your homeowners or renters' insurance coverage. So make sure you read your insurance coverage closely. Make sure you photograph everything, and write down serial numbers too. I didn't have much left to take so I just put a new lock on.
So now about my current experience 7 months later.
I arrived at public storage to help a friend move his items and I advised against it. As I pulled up I noticed a new secure gate to enter and exit. Upon looking for a cart there were homeless people out front as well as one just sitting on a cart like he owned the place in the lobby area.
The place had many sketchy people roaming the halls and many were under the influence. As you bring your things in people are watching you carefully which I found to be very very strange giving you an odd feeling. The building has very few cameras and is not as secure as they want you to feel.
I decided to check my storage unit and behold my lock was missing and things were rummaged through. There was not much to take and I reported it and I got the same story as last time. I was told last time I filed my report that criminals would rent storage units and go frequently to formulate plans then break into someone's and put it in their units. There are no cameras in the hallways so criminals do what they want there.
If you value your items do not use this location. There are lots of other storage locations near that actually care about your property and that are safe. Public storage does not care about you or your property and if you're broken into they will not do anything but say sorry, and tell you to file a report, they may give you a complimentary free cheap lock, and from experience, they do not cooperate with law enforcement. They didn't even offer me a discount or credit or anything but they were quick to try to collect their payment and said whatever happens in your unit is your problem.

I'm writing two different reviews. This review is not on the amazing staff that they have but on the facilities themselves. If you are moving the occasional items view your vehicle and not a moving truck make sure you can bring your own hand cart or dolly. It seems that there are only 2 hand carts for the whole facility and it's nearly impossible to get one. Most storage locations I have used in the past have readily available hand carts.
At this public storage facility, you can never find one and if you come after office hours the hand carts are locked up so you can't use them. They fail to mention that hand carts are only available during business hours.
Over all the facilities are clean and the easy contactless app does not seem to work at this facilities so it's pointless to have unless you are using it to pay your bill.
This is more of an FYI so you read the website that says there are things to make your move easy well good luck you are more likely to see a unicorn than them items. So make sure you purchase your own moving equipment for a better experience

The staff are great, the buildings aren't as great, mostly because of the mice. It appears there were exterminators there at some point but still mice. They started building corporate offices a year or so ago and doesn't seem to be complete yet.
Its hard to believe people like Nancy still exist. Whatever her salary is, it should be doubled. Nancy was more than helpful to me in so many ways. She even called me before she went home for the night to make sure I was all set to move in the next day. Thank you Nancy for all you did & do. You are AWESOME!!

I got a storage unit today at the public storage on 289 Lafayette W Frontage Road. Joslynne helped me and was very helpful and knowledgeable. Showed me my storage unit and made sure I had a lock and all the information I needed to have a nice smooth move-in tomorrow. 5 STARS
I visited Public storage to get a unit for in between moves. They got me in and out in a flash with some of the best customer service a shopper could ask for. If you’re thinking of whether or not to choose this location as your storage place- think no further this is your sign. And finally you have to ask for Nancy! She’s the only reason I’m posting this.

This was my first time renting out a public storage unit from any storage place. I was so confused on how it worked and what to expect when I got there, I googled public storage and prayed that everything will go smoothly when I walked into public storage the front desk lady Nancy was beyond polite nice she was very warm welcome Nancy made me feel very very comfortable and she got me a great deal for a storage room that fitted my budget I will highly recommend this public storage location and company to my friends strangers and family as long as this company keeps Nancy or workers like Nancy at public storage with the same character and positive energy that Nancy brings to the company. She was truly more then a big help.
Very disappointed! reserved a 10 x 20 unit to store my classic car. Drove to the location the day prior to my resevstion to make sure units were secure. Everything looked good. I Then Changed my reservation to the following weekend to drop off my car. Employee helping me canceled my original reservation and set up a new one. She had entered in my email wrong so i never got my new reservation email. The day before my scheduled drop off i called to verify everything since i never received a email like i was told I would. They found my resevation and said everything was all set. Showed up to drop off my car on was told there were no more 10 x 20 spots available even though i had a reservation? Employee called her manager to see how they could resolve this and i was told i could rent a 10x30 for more money. I asked to speak to the manager but he was busy and could not talk to me. I asked how you can i have a reservation for a space when none are available and was told a reservation only reserve price not the space. What the hell! I agreed to rent the 10x30 just to get me by until i could find a different place. Was then told i need my title to show i was the registered owner. I can see why this would be necessary but i was not told this the week prior and the employee new i was storing a vehicle nor did i see anything online. Needless to say i walked out and am Very disappointed in the whole process.
I went to obtain a space and the warm helpful experience provided by Joslynne Fox was TOP TIER 👍🏽👌🏽👏🏽 and very patient as well as informative. If you’re wondering, yes I rented. Oh yeah S/O Nancy as well.

This place is horrible, every time I was there No one in office no lock provided on rented space. Took weeks for for property manager to get back to me..Then I can't get a full refund even though I never moved 1 piece of furniture into storage space so out of 100 dollars I get refunded 21 dollars for a lock I never received. Not to mention the phone system only allows a person to contact property manager and Noone above them except for when the property manager does call you back and then they give you a number to talk to someone.. company very disorganized and will never receive business from me or anyone I know and I run a moving company...
Nancy has been great, no complaints there. However: the rent has doubled since Storage365 bought the place. My unit was burglarized twice, once in July and again this past weekend. PS-affiliated insurance company is trying to deny the claim in spite of physical evidence, police reports, and notes on my account file. During construction for the past year+ there has been either open (non-secure) access to the building or no access to the building depending on the state of maintenance. Sliding doors to ramp are constantly broken, so if you have heavy things on a cart you need to unload them from dock height to ground level instead of wheeling it to your car. Building is understaffed, no active security (they have started installing cameras but they STILL don't cover my unit), no remedy for damages or significant return of rent paid for insecure unit since district manager apparently has no authority over those policies. Will be cancelling as soon as the stuff nobody wanted to steal is moved out. Absolute nightmare experience.
I was concerned at first when Public Storage took over the facility. So far, the customer service is outstanding and for anyone interested please see Nancy as she is a wonderful person to work with. Great experience!

Nancy at the West Lafayette location was extremely courteous and helpful. We had to wait a bit because they were cutting locks, but she gave us a better deal on a larger unit that we ended up needing. Public Storage could certainly help out thier employees by getting more labor and equipment.

Nancy the staff person was really helpful and thoughtful. I lost the key to my lock so she put in a work order to get it done, then let me know when I was done and put a temporary lock on for me. She was always friendly and helpful and went out of her way to keep me informed of the construction project and the deadline for moving out of my locker. She’s definitely and keeper and deserves a raise and a promotion.
