I had an incredibly disappointing experience with the Public Storage location on Fenton St. in Silver Spring, MD. From the moment I moved in, it was one issue after another. Initially, I was given the wrong storage unit number, which delayed my move-in process. The gate frequently malfunctioned, making it hard to access my unit. To top it off, the office was rarely staffed during posted business hours, and calls were consistently ignored.
When I decided not to renew my unit for the next month, I notified the manager, emptied my unit by the end of the month, and attempted to return the keys. Despite multiple attempts to contact the office, I was ignored. Eventually, the manager contacted me, assured me that I wouldn’t be responsible for anything as long as my things were moved out. However, when I finally went to the office, he completely changed his tune and is now trying to charge me for the full month of September, despite my unit being vacated.
This location is run with zero professionalism, and the lack of communication is unacceptable. My overall experience with Public Storage has been nothing short of terrible, and I would strongly recommend avoiding this location. I genuinely believe most of these reviews are fake would not recommend.
I am writing to express my strong dissatisfaction with the recent price increase for my storage unit. I have been a loyal customer for several years and I am highly upset that the rates continue to rise, seemingly without justification. My latest bill reflects an increase of approximately $50, which represents nearly a third of the current rate. This is outrageous and unacceptable.
It's deeply concerning that businesses, take advantage of the very customers who keep them in business. Unfortunately, this pattern is all too common, whether it's in storage, gas, cell phones, or cable services. Companies push through these increases because many customers don’t take the time to voice their concerns or take action. However, I refuse to remain silent on this matter.
If more customers like myself took a stand and pushed back against these unreasonable hikes, I believe companies would reconsider their practices. I’m not one to complain needlessly, but I believe that this situation is disgraceful and needs to be addressed.
We’ve been here since November. I don’t have any issues here until I need to get a hold of the property manager. I made my initial account online but when I wanted to downsize it was a long journey to get a hold of someone in the office that could help me. I called the place several times and at different times for a few days before I was finally able to get a hold of someone who confirmed they were going to be in the office to help with the downsize. The customer service was good and all was well once I was able to transfer to a smaller unit. Now I’m trying to once again downsize to the smallest size (I’m slowly getting rid of things) and was able to get a hold of customer service people. However I had a 1pm appointment and he never showed up! I waiting around for 25 minutes and roamed around the storage to see if he was around and no luck. It’s frustrating when you need something from this place because they are hard to get a hold of!!

Adding to this review to confirm that Public Storage has done nothing to address the smell in the basement level of this facility. I have received not one response from the facility or corporate on actions they plan to take to address it.
There is a huge problem on the climate controlled basement level at this Public Storage Facility where I've had a unit since January 2022. A noxious chemical smell permeates the floor and inside my unit. The items I have stored there have now absorbed this stench. I have notified Public Storage through multiple means: the onsite staff person, customer service chat line, corporate-level customer service P.O. box, and regional managers. Not one person has contacted me to follow-up and no action has been taken. I would steer clear of this facility.
I was able to book a space while out of state, thanks to the support of Arturo! He was able to provide a clear answer to all my questions and uncertainties. I definitely recommend reserving a space at this location.

I came today to look at some spaces. Had a good experience using Public Storage to store my things. Ben was very helpful and professional every step of the way.
This is a very good storage place. I had no issues with the unit, the company, the location, customer service, the staff, etc., even in the times I accessed on foot (no pov- use rental cars). I had one incident where I got locked in after hours in 2021, which was scary, but customer service assisted me and the staff called me the following day and took note to avoid any future similar occurrences. I would use them again in the future, if needed.

I highly recommend this location. I was fortunate to have been assisted by Mike, and am happy with the level of service I received. Not only was Mike patient with my many questions, the check-in process very smooth. Prior to meeting with Mike, I met with Ben the prior week, and he, too, very patiently answered my questions.
Horrible. We have had to change units three times because of MOLD in their so called air conditioned space. The turnover rate of their front office staff is deplorable. I DO NOT RECOMMEND

The company increased rent with NO NOTICE. I called the customer service line to get the increase waved and the late fee waved(that was caused by having to figure out why my rent was $75 higher). Terrible service that will admit they’re at fault but will not wave their fee’s saying there is nothing they can do. Awful company but what else would you expect.

For sure, everyone has a "bad day" from time to time. However, when the same person consistently misses the mark regarding public service, someone must bring attention of this to corporate management. For over one year now, I have been doing business at this location. I would like to believe the front office employees and myself would have developed excellent repor by now, unfortunately that is not the case here. I do not desire to write a book about this matter. However, it appears some corporations have assumed the position of "MASTER" while the "PAYING PUBLIC" IS SERVANT...
After a hostile encounter, I found it necessary to take an additional dose of blood pressure medication.
Every employee is the "FACE" of the business. And, yes, one bad apple can spoil the whole lot...

Easy check-in and great customer service
We are very happy with the size of our storage unit. Ben and his associate each made the time to show me several units during three visits. They were very patient as we worked out our needs. This Public Storage location has a great feature which allows you to park inside (under cover) near the entrance and elevator, which is a real plus when it is raining or snowing.
