My first time using a storage facility.
The good:
The lady manager is very professional, knowledgeable, efficient, helpful, patient, and pro-active. She's one of the reasons that I chose to rent a storage unit here.
The facilities are clean and safe.
The mobile app is nice.
They provide pull-carts.
And there are two restrooms in the storage area if you need 'em.
The bad:
I needed to use the restroom but couldn't figure out how to open it. (It was locked and - no - there was no one in there.)
And they "nickel and dime" you ... yeah, they give a "50% discount" on the first month but they get it back via an "application fee," selling a cylinder lock to you, and (trying to) sell insurance. Seriously? That application fee rubbed me the wrong way but I suppose they have to make their money somehow. And you're telling me that a lock is not included? Sheesh. (Oh, I get to keep the lock? Well, *that* makes a difference. Not.)
I fully expect them to raise the rent next month ... I just get the feeling that that's how they do business ... they know that it's not realistic for me to move, once I'm there. I hope I'm wrong but I'll provide an update in 30 days.
Regardless, it's a nice facility and I'm glad I chose it. I needed to store some bags and crates and some miscellaneous household items (no furniture), so the smallest unit was fine for me. What I liked is that the unit has a high ceiling ... maybe 8 or 10 feet? ... so I could stack the crates/boxes on top of each other and still have plenty of room remaining.

I rented a 10x10 space in the climate controlled floor.
There is not climate controlled at all. Is hot and humid in summer and super cold in winter.
Several items had mold because of the humidity.
The elevator were out of service for months, leaving only one in working conditions, too far from my space.
The building have more than 300 spaces, and only two carts to move your items.
I visited an small storage in Virginia with more than 8 carts available, every time I visited the virginia building they have enough carts availabe but this Rockville building always have one or zero carts available.
I started to use my own cart because of that.
You can not visit the building after 7pm, no matter they opened to 8pm, because the automatic system, bother me with messages if i visit the place close to 8pm.
I think the administration of that building is not doing a good job.
I was cleaning my storage, changing my lock and organizing my stuff, when I return I can't get in and have an email saying a move out receipt when I never requested to move out. So they just assume without contacting me. Also it smells like piss, there is a lack of carts for customers to use, the bathrooms are locked 24 hours a day, there are rats that will chew on your stuff, and if you are there after 9 pm with your car you will be locked in, the gate won't open to let you out. Overall I'm glad this happened so I can rent from a better storage place and I suggest everyone do the same

Excellent service. Mohamed was very efficient, gave me a good overview of the options, showed me the space, gave me directions on how to open the gate, etc. He was polite and patient.
Discovered that I had 'misplaced' both keys to the lock to the unit. Called the facility and spoke with Mohamed. He explained the options for dealing with this, and I found a locksmith who could come promptly. Mohamed made sure he was available to do the necessary identification and other steps without any delay, and oversaw the process to make sure all went smoothly. I much appreciate his helpfulness.

Great staff and enjoyed the few months of services. The reason I had to cancel is the price they were going to charge us for a 5x5 space. In the beginning the price was reasonable but I had to cancel because it increased by over $20, and I was not willing to pay more than $90 for a small space like that. Another minor issue is the lack of carts available for customers. However, the staff was very considerate and allowed me enough time to vacate the space.
Ben was professional and very courteous! In a world full of stress and strain his kind attitude made a difference in my day! As well were all the folks I talked to today at Public Storage - they were a delight!

Public Storage’s Gude location has been great. My wife and I started off renting a 5x5 space and quickly realized we needed to upgrade to 5x10. The staff here are great and the mobile app allows us to handle everything ourselves very conveniently. With an apartment, there’s just not enough space and so our storage unit here is perfect as it’s close by, very secure, climate controlled, and we have peace of mind storing our things here for an affordable monthly price.

I rented a climate-controlled unit to store my furniture, clothes, shoes, and personal documents.
After storing my items for 10 months, my movers moved my belongings from the storage unit into the moving truck to find rat feces all over the unit's floor and my belongings.
My furniture, which is worth $20K+, is all damaged. The storage unit referred me to the contract and told me to check with my insurance.
The public storage contract lists that any behavior by the storage unit deliberate or negligent can't be used to hold public storage liable. My insurance, like most insurance, won't cover rat damages.
WHERE IS THE HUMANITY IN ALL THIS? I might as well have thrown all my belonging instead of renting this storage unit for 10 months; it would've saved me $2K.

Aaron, the previous manager was very kind, respectful, helpful in any way he could, this new manager…Mike is no help at all, NO help at all, very rude!, I DO NOT RECOMMEND contracting with this person at all!, very bad experience !!
