Longtime storage unit renter here. I would still be one if they hadn't jacked up the price almost doubled what I orginally rented it close to 3 years ago. I called the main office and they said my orginal price was only a promo..well no one said that to me. But still doubling the price is way to much for the small unit I rent. Oh read all of the paperwork online because you just can't tell the office you are done renting and leave.You have to call in to the main office and do that or you will be charged. I figured that out when the office staff didn't want to see the unit to check me out. Something was fishy to me. Lastly they don't pick up the phone on the main office it is computers. I had to keep saying 'customer service' repeatly till it finally gave in. The staff has always been very nice to me.

My son rented a storage unit for two months. 3 days after paying he tried to cancel because he no longer needed the storage unit. He was initially told that they would refund his credit card. He paid $161.85 for two months. They refunded him $21.85 for a lock fee. After he was told he would be refunded the money he noticed after a week that he didn't get a refund and then was told that they were not going to refund the money. He called the help desk and was told again that they would not refund his money. This place is not reputable and this is bad business. They could have at least given him one months rent back.

Inconsistent information provided about a refund. I’ve been dealing with this matter since the beginning of November. Friendly staff though

place is awful. the longer you stay, the more they increase your rent without notifying you. there’s construction at this location and expect for all of your stuff to be filled with complete filth. also doesn’t help the fact that there’s holes in the side of their storage units where mice and other rodents can get in and ruin more of your things. once you bring it to their attention that due to their lack of caring and fixing their unit that doesn’t even have an entire side attached and is rusted with rusty holes on the side, they just want you to make a claim to your insurance. do yourself a favor and find another storage option, especially one that is climate controlled and one that won’t increase your rent without notifying you or AT ALL! i’m paying $158 for a unit that anyone or anything can get into since they refuse to do anything about it(except increase my rent) my items have been ruined because rain gets in my unit and has molded several of my items as well…again they just told me to make a claim to my insurance. really great customer service. also can’t even begin to put in detail how much dust and filth my items are filled with. don’t expect to take a uhaul in there either because they don’t have it big enough to navigate ANY large vehicle. a small car can barely make the turn out from any of the rows. there’s cheaper places that are inside, climate controlled, clean, don’t increase your rent after 3, 6 or 9 months and MUCH cheaper than what they have their units for! the facility that i am moving to is larger than the one i have here and is close to $50 cheaper. there’s a reason why people are leaving this place for other storage facilities. they also don’t ever answer their phone in the office. you leave a VM and you never hear back from them in regards of anything ranging from interest in the units, concerns, questions, etc. you see an employee(john specifically) and show him your concerns and he does absolutely nothing about it because “he has work to do” and just tells you to call the office phone that again, they never answer when they are sitting right next to it.

The lady at the counter is very nice. When I rented the unit I explained to her that I only wanted it for one month. She responded with ok and explained nothing else. I was moved out of the unit and did not renew. I received a bill in the mail for an additional month. I called and they said that it is because I did not check out of the unit online. The same lady answered the phone when I called and she remained kind. I reminded her of our previous encounter and she said she recalled. I asked her why she didn't explain the exit procedure to me at the time of renting. She had no answer and they are still holding me responsible for the bill. I realize that I am at fault but I feel she is also liable.

If you want random high price increases this is the place. Started at $190 for a 15 x 30 at 2223 Haskell in Lawrence, KS. Three months later 21% increase to $230. Ten months later 34% increase to $309. Eleven months later a 25% increase to $388. I am guessing there are enough people that will put up with the increases versus going through the effort and cost of moving their stuff. They now are advertising the same unit for $286 online with 50% off first month to lure someone in. I moved and got the same amount of space at another facility in town for $220 a month. They also used corrugated metal for the outside wall, which seemed to create enough of an access for me to find animal droppings at least a couple dead mice.

Spaces will start out affordable then they raise prices. My rate went up 3x in under 6-8 Months from 70 to 120

Kara @ the Lawrence location was extremely helpful with my storage move! I recently retired from the military and needed a space the same day.
