Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 1130 W Main St, Fort Wayne, IN

Rich seemed uninterested in understanding my needs and was not as approachable as I had hoped.

Rich was an incredible help in figuring out what my needs were was incredibly friendly. Definitely would recommend.

Last year I rented a 5x10 unit, and until seven months ago I would have given Public Storage five stars overall, and also at the W. Main location. Then in January they raised my rate from $56/mo to $73/mo, nearly 30%. So last month I was finally able to make arrangements to vacate my unit, but the lift was broken and I was unable to remove my things. They still charged me for the month less $24 (for the inconveniences). Then last week I received notice that my rent would go up to $97/mo, but guess what? The lift is still broken a month later. I cannot remove my belongings. They have notified me that they will only charge me $73 for September if I cannot remove my items. I shouldn't have had to pay for August because, through no fault of my own, I was unable to move out, let alone pay for September if they don't have the lift fixed. DO NOT RENT FROM PUBLIC STORAGE! It's like renting from the mob!

Unit was not ready on move in date. Could not get ahold of anyone to address issue. Only has one lift and it’s broken. It’s incredibly HOT in the building, climate control? Yeah right…

Rude, incompetent staff. The lift only works half the time. Many folks have had things stolen out of their units. Avoid this one

I like it! It’s way more updated than the other places they offer. The only reason I gave it 4/5 was because there’s no human on site. Just a computer, and that doesn’t really help you right when you need it.

Easy access and cheap

I did have my unit broken into in October of 2023, right after I had moved everything in. Then as of yesterday I got an email saying that my unit wasn't properly locked which I knew wasn't true I go check out my stuff faithfully since it was broken into. My locks were taken off my unit and a blue lock was put on there, and I started to freak out thinking someone else put their lock on my unit, and were going to rob me blind, it was evening so I couldn't do anything until the next day. So, I waited till the next day, and went was talking to the lady in the kiosk, I was upset, then this very nice Lady named Kristie opened up the door and asked if she could help me? So, I told her my 2 locks were taken off my unit, and she said they do locks checks every night and she noticed my locks were missing so she put hers on and saved my life so we checked the unit, and nothing had been taken, a true Angel! I give Kristie much Praise!!!! We need more Kristies in the world. I've been checking my unit faithfully not going to miss a beat!

I found an actual human being working on the property. Kristy was a great help. She helped me get my account in order. Glad I ran into her.

Highly encourage you not to rent from this storage area. My son had to put things in storage due to a fire at his apartment complex, it was broken into and he lost a lot of collectibles He had been obtaining for over 15 years. He called the police and the officer told him that they have had numerous break-ins at this storage unit

2 story storage facility. Units on Floor 2 are reasonably lless per month rental fee as the units on Floor 1. OK that's cool , its "cheaper." And .because they have 1 freight elevator on the far west side of the building It's ALWAYS OUT OF ORDER/ yep, the freight elevator to move your possessions down and up and up and down. Is BROKEN, NON WORKING, OFTEN!!

Unmain unit and when you buy a unit you have to fight tooth and nail and jump threw hoops to get to unit this place is horible

Looks like a secure location BUT DONT BE FOOLED. this building was being robbed for over a month before my unit got broken into and they didn't even send out an email. Also their cameras conveniently didn't work, so that's nice.

Clean. Seems safe. Auto deduct payment. Edited review: the place has gone downhill since the new ownership took over. Yesterday I got an email stating my lock wasn't secure - went there and my unit was broken in to. Tried calling property manager, no answer. Called at least 5 times, left messages each time. The elevator was full of trash, like, enough trash that it can't be used. There was a dude LIVING in a unit! Like, full on sleeping... I'm out of here at the end of the month. I highly recommend you find another place!!!

DO NOT STORE YOUR THINGS HERE. The area is extremely unsafe and prone to theft. Your things WILL get stolen. We had two storage units and both were ransacked, boxes slashed and valuables stolen despite having two different locks. When we filed a claim the police said they are at this location constantly for stolen items and broken-in storage units. The insurance they provide covers NOTHING and will not be helpful to you whatsoever. Again DO NOT STORE YOUR THINGS HERE. Go somewhere else in a nicer part of town. We have learned a very hard lesson, and could not get our things out of here fast enough. I hope I can save someone else some headache and anxiety.

I had to come up to indiana to move some of my grandmothers things from her storage unit and had no idea where to go given i wasn't familiar with the facility. Dylan helped me tremendously, by helping locate the storage unit and assisted in figuring out the best way to go about moving the things out of the building. Overall, a very good experience!

Using Public Storage's service has been full of issues. My original space had someone else's lock on it. It took almost 30 minutes for me to even connect with a representative to reserve a new space. Then, when I was having issues on-site, the property manager was nowhere to be seen. In fact, out of the 3 times I went to my storage space, I didn't see someone who worked there once. Even getting in contact with someone who can help you is near impossible, as the property manager never picks up their phone and the live chat on their website is always busy. Storing my belongings was easy, but I truly was on my own for the most part.

Paid extra for four units by the door then they blocked off that entrance so it's not accessible.

It’s other places, please look around. Sorry public storage. You just have to do better.

Shanice was wonderful! My business account was hacked and I had to reset all of my payments. Shanice helped to walk me through resetting my account and even helped me with a secondary Public Storage location! Best customer service experience I have had in a very long time!

the have a really annoying alarm that stays on the whole time your loading or unloading your unit besides that its ok

Good sizes storage spots. Price's not too bad. So if u need too put extra stuff, this is a good place too put it.

Great facility. It’s clean, safe and a convenient location. I have rented at a few different facilities in the past. I have been especially happy with the kiosk experience at Main Street. When needed, the staff is responsive and kind. It has been a seamless and positive experience overall. 👍👍

What appeared the cheapest rental by $9 was actually $25.90 more expensive between hidden fees and billing errors, plus a $25 admin fee for the "convenience" of the entire fiasco. No thanks. This is the only kiosk I've seen that isn't accessible 24 hours, forcing you to call by phone. Expect to spend a minimum of 5-10 minutes on hold. When I called, the rep misquoted the reserved unit price by $10, added a $7.95 mandatory insurance fee, then double-billed the insurance fee and couldn't correct it for a total of $25.90 more than the initial $39 quote, nearly doubling it. The owner replied describing the mandatory insurance as "ubiquitous" in the storage industry. Horse feathers. I went to 20 other storage locations in Fort Wayne. Of all 21, only 4 required insurance, but the other three would waive the requirement with proof of existing homeowners or renters insurance. Only this location required that you pay them for their insurance. A fifth location actually gave you insurance for free. So no, "ubiquitous" is inaccurate. The company website says low-cost insurance is available, not required. I think it's fair to characterize being forced to pay 20% more every month ($8 on top of $39 of rent), for coverage I neither want nor need, as a hidden fee.

Very clean locally owned storage facility. Owners are personally involved. Environmentally friendly units. One of the nicer storage facilities I have seen.
