Manager Roger has excellent communications and walked me through my entire rental in a way easy to understand. He taught me how to use the very convenient app that allows me to open the bay door from my phone and helped me sign up for Auto-pay to help avoid missing payments. Wonderful employee that goes above and beyond. Edit: Rogersisted me today and was supper helpful with scheduling my vacate since I won't need any storage at the end of the month.

Disappointed at this facility. Lately every time you walk in it feels like a swamp. I have hydrometers in my units and it's been over 65% humidity. Anything over 60% causes mold to grow. This facility is NOT cheap, at least turn on the AC if you are "claiming" to be climate controlled. If you like to store your stuff in a moist basement like environment...this is the place for you.

UPDATE 2024: This Used To Be Owned By "Extra Space Storage" & it was a Clean, Safe & Affordable, managed by a wonderful company that trained the staff to be Helpful & Professional. NOW it is owned by "Public Storage" a Nation wide company that is not only Outrageously Expensive...they do not keep the property Clean or SAFE....they hire Anyone! I used to be able to come in & out of my storage unit all times of the day or night for my supplies & feel safe....now I can't even go into the building during the day alone! NOT because of the neighborhood, but the STAFF who run the place! The management doesn't care the employees are using the place for "Party Central" or whatever! Be very Aware they allow unsafe people INSIDE the property who will approach you for money! Melissa Zamojcin, is the store manager at Extra Space Storage in Skokie, IL. Besides having a very pleasant personality, she help make our moving & storage process so much easier & Less Stressful. Melissa is very knowledgeable, she was able to answer all of our questions, she gave us great tips about storage, she was extremely thorough explaining their policies, pricing, & the whole storage process. Melissa was even empathetic to our situation (she just moved). We were very impressed with this young lady, as a professional, she is on top of her game. We were also impressed with the facilities at Extra Space Storage in Skokie. Their prices are comparable to all the storage places in the area. Besides being brand new, it is well maintained. They also have wider hallways, higher ceilings, structurally securer storage units. Their storage unit locking system is so much better than the other places we visited. But the icing on the cake is that the moving trucks, vans, cars, etc, can back right into the storage facility common area where it is climate controlled, well lit up, & CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN! It sure makes a difference when you, have to load or unload "stuff" yourself. (especially at night by yourself) The crew from the moving company were even impressed. After visiting 3 other places in the same or lower price range, that had Filthy facilities, less Structurally Secure storage units & locking systems. Rude & or Very Unprofessional staff, we couldn't get back to Melissa at Extra Space Storage fast enough to secure our unit. I definitely recommend them. Go check them out for yourself. We stored our equipment in a 5'x15' unit at their skokie facility for over 3 years. It was the cheapest unit we found initially. Over the years we stored with them they increased the monthly rent from the initial $108, then $128 then $148 to $173 a month. We moved our equipment out when they stated they were going to increase it again to $221 a month. What was disturbing was that when using a different browser for their webpage I was able to find larger 10'x10' units in the exact same building for less than half the proposed new monthly rate of $221. We were contacted by their service team after we scheduled our move out date. They stated they saw an "error" in our rate change and they would return our rate to the $173 a month for three months. They were unwilling reduce the rate further even after I discussed how larger units in their space were currently cheaper than our 5'x15' unit and we had been with them for over 3 years. There is no guarantee that this company will keep your unit affordable if you are planning on storing long term. They are abusing their contract to get as much money as they can before you call it quit and move to a different storage company.

Pat is really amazing and made sure getting the storage was really easy for me since it was my first time. She made me feel very happy and came with energetic energy to brighten up my day. Pat is an amazing worker and a blessing in disguise.

There's a bit of lack of instructions, but once one figures out how to navigate this storage, it's quite convenient. The opening of doors by the app does not really work so one has to use the access code. Nonetheless, it's still quite convenient and the price is reasonable. My friend and I are sharing, and for this purpose it makes sense to use this storage facility. The administrator is also quite helpful. The locks on the storage cells aren't the best to be honest, insufficient I think, though the lock charge is charged even if you bring your own I think.

Wow, wish I could leave a NEGATIVE STAR RATING! Don't ever rent a space here unless you want your storage space rent to go up considerably twice a year!!! Absolutely terribly managed with price increases! They suck you in with the $1 for first month and $49 there after...for very few months, then they jack it up about $10 twice a year. AND I only have a 5x5'!!! INSANE!!!

I’m a student and stored stuff here with a friend, it’s a bit of a drive from Evanston but it’s much cheaper and easy enough to get here with a rental car. No hidden fees, negative experiences, or anything like that. I had an issue once with my code not working, but the lady at the desk was incredibly kind and helpful. Move out was a breeze as well. I would plan to store her again in the future if I need to.

If you didn’t bring a lock you can buy one for $20 and if you bring your own lock within 30 days of your first month you can get this $20 refund. I love it here and it’s climate controlled. Open Seven days a week it’s 6am to 9pm.

Place is spotlessly clean, all brand new, and has a great location on Lincoln Ave 2 blocks North of Devon. My friend lost his lock while sorting thru his storage space, if was almost closing tome, so he shut it and returned the next morning, assuming and hoping nobody would steal from his storage place because everything was stored in Garbage bags. Someone went in to his storage unit and stole a folding chair. Mgmt wouldn't allow the victim to see the security video unless he first filed a police report. Seriously, that's less than minimal support to protecy customers against thieves. I will think very carefully before storing anything in Public Storage.

Amazing customer service and great location! The property manager at the Howard street building in Skokie, Shauali, really came through when I needed help switching units at the last minute because my couch wouldn’t fit in the elevator. Shauali went above and beyond to help find another unit in the limited amount of time I had available. In addition to the excellent customer service, the facility is very clean and easy to access without any traffic congestion. I definitely recommend 5/5 stars.

Wanted to take this opp to recognize Melanie, the super sweet and super nice lady that was working @ the Public Storage @ 5830 W Howard St in Skokie, IL a few weeks back. Public Storage decided to jack up my monthly rate from $30 to $50. I was not going to pay one penny more. I went in there, and expressed my discontent with Public Storage, and Melanie was able to work her behind the desk magic and get a price adjustment for a few months for my unit. Melanie was super professional, empathetic, and just very kind and understanding. I will be going back there BECAUSE OF HER. Im listed on my account with PS as "Eduardo."

A Mixed Review: 5 stars for the Skokie Public Storage facility and their very professional ONSITE team, Roger(Manager) and Assistant Jin on Howard street. They have been extremely courteous and supportive on the phone while i cannot get through to the higher corporate phone robotics that requires only certain questions to be asked. My beef with this upper management is the 60% increase in my storage units cost in the last 8 months because of "current supply and demand". "ONE STAR" for the Public Storage Customer Service received from their automated answering robot, "ONE STAR" for the two short-noticed rent increases received and "THREE STARS" for having to HOPE that, as a long term customer, Public Storage won't hike me up anymore because they can right now.
