It amazes me that this facility has a 4.8 rating. I had an awful experience with their staff and management. I'm a storage auction buyer and this is by far the worst experience ever. Had won an auction unit and went the same day to pick it up, When I got there the lady did the paperwork and I paid. She said here is the combination code for the unit and go open it, she didn't open the unit like she was supposed to do. So I went to open the unit it had a cylinder lock attached. I couldn't access the unit and when I went the next day to pick it up someone went into the unit and took all the good stuff and left the junk. I believe fraud is being committed in this facility. I lost money and time. Avoid this facility plus they never answer the phone and no one is there in the afternoon.

Terrible customer service. I made a reservation for Saturday on Monday. Found I needed to move in earlier and called all of Wednesday and Thursday with no answer. Once they’ve got your money, they don’t care

Water leak in unit 8095 as of July 13, 2023. This location did not help me when I notified them of a water leak on July 6, 2023. I just moved out of state and caught the leak before I was going to leave town. I stayed in town until July 13, 2023 but no one came to check the roof or the inside of my unit. LISA is the only person who saw the physical damage and the pictures. She provided me two tarps and two clear plastic sheets to cover my furniture. She told me it would be 48-72 max for maintenance to come. On July 13, 2023 I told her I had to move out because I cant wait any longer and risk my belongings or my new job out of state. Public Storage would not cover the cost to move me to another unit in their facility. I saved 6 months to hire movers to move me into their facility now I had to pay double to move my belongings out. No one was taking this water leak seriously. My entire life (40years) was in that storage but two suitcases of clothes. I had just gotten a new job after graduating and all of my saved money went to moving and relocating costs. I trusted Public Storage (Ive used them for the last 15 years) to have well maintained and up to code buildings. I've never encountered any issues like this from Public Storage before but this Hillside, IL location did not handle the seriousness of the issue in a timely manner. I also started getting the run-around from LISA which I didn't appreciate... I was then waiting to speak to a district or regional manager to address my concerns with and finally I spoke with HECTOR he was rude and did not have his customers best interests at heart. He told me Public Service offered you a new unit didn't they. I said yes, but I had movers and I can't afford nore should I have to pay for movers again because your building has a water leak. HECTOR said, we will not pay to move your belongings. He then asked me for my storage unit key. I said, I had already given my key to LISA for three days, no one came to review the damage so I took the key back. He asked me again for my key (this is a major security risk for me) I said I could meet him depending on when someone can meet me. He said, someone can meet you in today July 10, 2023, I said ok, who will be meeting me. He said why does that matter. I said, why does it matter, because I'd like to know who is meeting me for my safety and to document this process as I have been. He would not tell me who was meeting me. I said this is absolutely ridiculous and Ive never dealt with such terrible customer service and blatant rudeness. To this day Public Storage has never tried to right their wrong. Please do NOT rent unit 8095. I have little confidence Public Storage fixed the water leak. I saved for 6 months to move, a graduate student who decided to return to school at 40 and finish a masters program in 1 year. I suffered significant financial hardship from Public Storage Hillside, IL. Costs exceeded $1500 after paying for movers twice, storage costs, etc. I cant recommend this facility or the company after 15 years of actively using them for my storage needs. They did not stand by their mission statement. It is their responsibility to maintain their buildings and have them up to code. It's also their responsibility to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner, such as a water leak. A few other concerns, customers should be aware of: I don't believe their units are truly climate controlled. I did not experience climate control in the building where my unit was for the short time I was there. They do not keep the building door or empty units locked. When I initially rented my unit someone took the unit I rented from me. Yep, a "regular" as LISA called him, looked for an empty unit and put his own lock on it. 1 week prior to move in I got a call from LISA asking if I moved in early because there was a lock on my unit. I said no. During the time of the water leak she pointed out the "regular" who took my unit. I asked, you just let people steal other reserved/rented units? Terrible customer service PS.

Don’t come to this location unless you want to be tricked into being over charged and end up with bed bugs and mice droppings all in ur things. I put some bug traps down for for my sister in unit 1102 and this is what ended up being caught. Not sure if you are aware but the 2 circular brown bugs are bed bugs. I’ve found mice droppings on several occasions as well. And to make matters worse she’s been renting the space for less than 2 years and the price has almost tripled since she has rented it and here is the proof. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE
