I hate this place immensely. The elevator right near my unit has been broken since July 2024. It is December 2024. Staff does nothing, and is never on site because they don't want to listen to people complain about things they do not care to fix. Corporate is also no help.
The property manager Shelley provided me with outstanding service! She responded to my needs as I was arranging my move, providing me with options and what was necessary, and she explained everything clearly. Always had a pleasant and professional attitude. Public Storage is fortunate to have Shelley working for them.

This is not a good experience at all. I was just trying to get access into my storage unit. The fire alarm is going off. Nobody is in the office. Can’t contact anybody can’t get nobody on the phone. This is horrible.
Very easy to book a storage. Love the introductory offer, which saved us for the first month! Very excellent customer service!! Every staff member we encountered have been very helpful & courteous.
I recently downsized to a smaller storage unit. The manager, Shelly, worked with me being out of state to make the transition as smooth as possible. Very happy with this location.
The on caveat to be aware of is due to the main Public Storage programming. You’re forced to take their insurance. Then redo your account declining the insurance (if you already have it) and hope the insurance charge is reversed. If you decline insurance up front, no one, including the employees, should have to do a 2nd form to decline it and reverse any charge.

I recently rented a unit from this facility and had a couple of issues before moving in that needed resolved so I went to the office on site to get some assistance. Luckily I was greeted by Shelly who not only resolved all my issues but went the extra mile to make sure my unit was cleaned before moving my stuff into it. Facility is nice and moving in and out was easy. But they raised the rent price twice in less than a year for a total of a $57 (70%) increase on a 5x5 unit. The location was very convenient for me but there are cheaper options in the area.
When I told my husband that Shelley, who helped me get a storage unit, "is so nice", I decided to share that with all of you. She is also knowledgeable, patient and helpful.

It’s ok, for a storage place. The doors don’t work right half the time. There aren’t carts available for use most of the time. Fortunately other buildings have them but have to get them yourself. It seems to always be hot in the building with my unit. Enough that some canned food went bad.

I'm shocked they have a link to review them on Yelp. This is the worst storage facility I've ever used, and I've had a fair number of them over the years. They are rude, incompetent, expensive and their technology doesn't work correctly. I wanted a second storage unit (a parking spot) at the same facility, but they couldn't figure out how to add it to my existing account, so they created a new account for me using a false email (that was their recommendation). After charging me incorrectly and locking me out of my original online account, I promptly decided to park my second vehicle somewhere else instead of here. When I called because I was locked out of the storage facility (couldn't access my original unit), the person I spoke with was a brat. He was rude and took forever to reply to my voicemails when I was at the facility waiting (they apparently don't have anyone onsite). I'm moving out of here soon and will not return. They suck.
This place is very annoying. All the ground is pitted so when you roll a cart across it, it is a gamble that nothing will fall. The app doesn't work very well. I got a second unit and had to go into the office to have them change the code on the first one so I could get in again. Now I can use the unlock on the app for the first one but need the code for the second. Why not one code? The carts are often rare and all messed up.
The units themselves are fine, but what low effort on management. If it weren't right next to the place I was moving out if I wouldn't have bothered.
Also why close the gates after 9? People have codes. You know when they enter and leave. It isn't like your staff is actively doing anything different while they are there and they leave at 6 anyway. Poorly managed business.
It has been a pleasure storing at Public Storage. They are a clean, quiet and extremely helpful facility. Just ask for Shelly when you need assistance for all your storage demands. She is exceptional!!
Been here for 2+yrs. Other than getting stuck in Elevator once (emergency call button reached someone but they confused Lakewood, CO with Lakewood, WA I think, so I self rescued myself by pull open door...haha) and gate/access key pads are overly sensative, but overall, I really have no complaints. Staff always friendly to me and place has always and appears to continue to improve...new cameras, parking lot repaved. Only one small rate hike...so Thank you very much and keep up w place and/or geography lessons for elevator emegency operator haha.
Tried calling numerous times to close out our unit before we moved out of state, they didn’t return my call until after we had left stating they’d be charging us up to $500 for cleaning the unit, which we could have done if we would have known before leaving the state. Drug addicts cover the parking lots every time we accessed the unit there was illegal behavior happening inside their gates. Avoid this place at all costs!!!
I came into this location and met Shelley and she was just amazing! She was very helpful and we were very satisfied with her knowledge and her friendliness to help us get a unit! I would recommend this location to anyone!

The local on site people are very helpful, BUT the facility's AC seems to not be working and hasn't been for a while. The internal temp is getting up above 90 degs. That's just too hot to keep keepsakes and other stuff in a supposed temperature controlled location.

If I could give them a 0 I would this storage has been nothing but a headache to me and my family I only had my storage for about 3 months before they raised the price dramatically. they do not answer the phone at all u have to call over and over. I was late on one payment and they cut my lock and wouldn’t let me access my storage as they have they’re lock on it my storage gets “broken into “ and stole a bunch of expensive tools and destroyed my storage this place is not safe or somewhere to be paying 200 a month for a small storage. Oh and the manger is trash as well don’t even try going through them for anything you won’t get anywhere 👎🏻save your money and go somewhere else !

This is the WORST company I have ever dealt with. They still your items and the lady and man still things and are liars. I spoke to David at the office ON SUNDAY 4/28/24 they said we abandoned our unit; due to the fact our lock was off on Saturday by accident we went back on Sunday, and they locked us out of our unit! After talking to David, I was able to have my boyfriend met him there. There were like 3 items a rack couple little things and a beautiful table. When we got to the unit, the Lady who I do not have her name had TAKEN the beautiful table. David walked around with my boyfriend to 3 units where this lady said she had moved our table to. He called her, she walked straight up to a 4th unit and gave us the table. Seems fishy that she only took things of value. If you abandon a unit you are supposed to auction off what is in it as a whole, not take the items and store them in a different unit. We got ours back my boyfriend told them to close the account. Today (5/2/24) they charged my account! When I called the location, I could not get a hold of anyone! I asked for a district manager to call me and still have not heard from them. According to customer service they NEVER closed my account even though we told them on Sunday 4/28/2024 to close our account. Seems VERY shady and I do believe they are taking items from people. I know they did from us! I do not trust them, and I feel like they are liars.

This is the worst storage ever! They lied saying someone stole their carts but really they took them away. They closed all the restrooms, and they sold all my things in my unit for 10.00 and after all that they made me pay the rest of the storage bill even though they were wrong because I was only 3 weeks behind on the bill

DO NOT store your things here unless you want them stolen. There is no security and the locks they sell you are worthless because the criminals can easily pick them. Once the gates are locked at 9pm the criminals go shopping in all the units and take what they want. The manager, Shelly, is a liar, and could care less about what goes on. The other manager, David, is pretty pathetic too. When I informed him my possessions had been stolen he did not even offer any sympathy. On top of all that there are homeless people sleeping in the units and on the front porch of the Office. Do yourself a favor and read the other reviews from people who've been robbed, or go down to the Lakewood Police Dept. and request the reports. Again, DO NOT store your stuff here. You've been warned!!!

My storage got broken into, I think that's crazy because u need a code to get through the gate then another code to get into the elevator. They of course didn't see anything or know anything. I lost some expensive items and the company didn't want to do anything to help me. The price I pay for this storage has already doubled from the starter price. This place is a joke, at this point and I really need to just pull all of my stuff out and go somewhere better.

First night about half our items were stolen. Facility did nothing to assist and wouldn't let us vies security cameras. Despite this we still placed items in storage only to not be able to access because the elevator is broken. I had movers scheduled to move items out of our unit and we cannot access. No communication the elevator was out of order, no update as to when it will be repaired. This place has cost me more money that it is worth.

November 2023 update: concrete repair and paint touchup work has recently been done, so the property no longer feels worn out and run down. I appreciate that there seems to be more working carts freely available than in years past. The rear building's elevators occasionally make some disconcerting noises while in operation. Prices have continued to rise so it's still not what I'd call a "good value" by any means, but no worse than any other climate-controlled rent-a-box facility.
Original review: I’ve rented large and small units here off and on over several years and the staff here has always been professional, helpful, and efficient. Repairs (to access gates and doors, for example) usually happen pretty quick. Prices aren’t great although I’m sure they are relatively competitive.
As a large facility with so many indoor units, you tend to come across more discarded household items in and around the buildings than perhaps other self storage places, plus shards of broken mirrors/glass and plastic.
Occasionally there are people kind of just hanging out in and around their vehicles in the parking lot for extended periods and near indoor units. Personally, I’ve never felt categorically unsafe, but I could see it being an uncomfortable situation for some.
This place deserves to go out of business. They continuously raise the prices on a whim and do not care, they don't even use that money to update stuff. The elevator on the right drops when you're going down. The one on the left constantly breaks. The grounds are nasty and dirty. I've literally seen homeless people sleeping inside the storage. There's one bathroom and it's disgusting. I'm so glad I got my stuff out. I'd advise highly against putting your stuff here and going somewhere else...but that's if they don't just buy out another business

*Updated again. Didn't take long and the adjustment back to a reasonable rate was increased again by another 25%! Companies like this don't care if people are struggling, only about their bottom line. A 25% increase in rents for one year is outrageous. I'm looking at alternative options now and suggest others look elsewhere too.
*Updated. Public Storage customer service took initiative and decreased last months rental increase to a more affordable option so I appreciate that. I'm hoping this location gets a better solution for the cart issue but I'm more positive now.
Been a member here since 2018. My units rate went from $70 a month (promotion) to $210 in four years so be prepared for outrageous price increases.
In addition, now they keep all carts locked in the main office which removes all conveniences of having carts. One has to drag the cart from the main office to their storage unit and drag it back to the main office when done. Is it raining? Is it snowing - doesn't matter, expect to haul the carts through parking lots. There needs to be a better solution.
They have 2 access points that need your code to enter. Despite this my unit was broken into and I had hundreds of dollars worth of tools stolen while I was away for 6 months. They also use the comcast business model of cranking up prices after you've been there for a year since they know moving your junk around is a pain. They have promotional deals for the same unit I'm currently in for almost half the rent. But what are you going to do? Buy a house? Move your stuff across the hall? Lol

Safe and secure. Great for climate control storage needs. But for long-term storage they continue to jack up the price on your unit overtime. I now pay $25 over and above my original rental cost and they continue to increase it at their whim.
I've been using the Public Storage at 305 S. Union Blvd. in Lakewood CO for 4 years. The manager Shelly is great to work with and her associate IIeea is polite, helpful, and hopefully will be at that location for a good long while. The buildings are clean and safe.
I am new to renting storage and had a few questions and a bit of confusion. Ileea in the office of the Union location was really great. She was patient, answered all my questions, walked me through the storage facility and was truly wonderful.

We have had a unit here for 3 years. The bathrooms have only been available one time during that time. All the carts are locked up and it is super inconvenient to get one. We asked about a cart and we’re told sorry, we have them locked up. The office was locked in the middle of the day, even though two people were in there working and we had to pound to get their attention and then they were very rude. They wouldn’t assist us with looking at prices for downsizing our unit, and the prices were confusing online. The only good experience we’ve actually had is that they layout is fairly easy to maneuver.

The Public Storage at 305 South Union has an excellent property manager named Ileea. She will do whatever it takes to accommodate a customer and to make sure they understand everything needed for a pleasant stay.

Couldn't find anything in storage and decided to reorganize a bit. I heard someone walking toward me and since I had most of my stuff out blocking other units I called out toward the footsteps I was sorry for the mess. Came out of the unit and met a lady with a welcoming smile as she was pushing a broom in the hallway. I apologized again which started a short but very pleasant chat together! Her name is Bethey and she made my day brighten up with how friendly and professional (with some humor mixed in) our interaction was. She saw a gem in a dusty box day. Thanks.
I purchased a storage unit at an auction. They did not provide me with a working code to leave the facility so I literally had to go out the north entrance and wheel a large load of items on a cart to the south end of the building in the dark and cold cause I was unable to access the doors inside with no code. I caught the manager right before she left and it was taken care of.
Didn't find many good items in the unit, unfortunately, 90% happened to be broken or ruined on a closer inspection

This place is disgusting and unsafe in everyway. They have 5 bathrooms that all stay locked because they don't want to clean them. Which leaves people no choice but to literally use the bathroom around the facility. There are bags of poop and bottles of urine, and stains all over. After renting there for an extended time I have determined that there is absolutely no security at all. None. There is nothing stopping people from staying overnight and breaking into units besides a camera system that barely works for review, and is not monitored in anyway. Stay away, unless you like urine, feces and having your things stolen.
It’s 12:40pm during normal business hours and no one is here. The office lights are on and the doors are closed. Why? Where are you? Is there no one staffed to work here? You’ve got people out here trying to get inside the office to do business and the doors are locked. What world are you people living in? You’re a joke. You work at a storage unit. I’m embarrassed for you.
I keep saying customer service is a dying skill that a lot of people nowadays don't have. Shelley and Emily proved me wrong their customer service skills are top notch and go far beyond anyone's expectations they're very accommodating cheerful to help and nice. People forget how to be nice to each other in the customer service industry but these 2 have got it mastered I would recommend this public storage to anybody that ever needed storage and all my friends.
I am 70 years old. I’ve been at this facility almost 6 years. I have watched it deteriorate each time I visit my unit.
There’s usually no one at the office, no carts in my building, and to add insult to injury, they are locked in the front office and no one is there.
When I leave a message, no one gets back to me. I’m paying premium prices at a facility that simply does not care.
With all the competition nearby, my advice is go somewhere else.
Public Storage should get better management.
The elevators do not work! I was stuck in one for 20 mins. None of the buttons inside worked including the emergency call button. I called the front office (4pm during business hours) and no one answered. Fortunately after 20 mins and one second from calling 911 the elevator began moving and opened on the second floor. Don’t rent here nothing is up to code. I’m looking to move my stuff to a better unit.
I started my business with 1 storage unit at Public Storage. Eventually I got up to 15 units full of merchandise. Now I have my own storefront with a 10,000 sq ft showroom and am working to open a 2nd location.

Pleasant surprise! I usually dread going to storage units because the experience typically leaves you frustrated or annoyed. What a refreshing change this time was. I had some issues that needed resolving and figured I would get the usual "customer service" from the property manager when I went to the office. Imagine my surprise when I was greeted was a pleasant smile and hello from Shelley behind the desk. She was more then happy to help and didn't act like my issue was a burden to deal with. She went above and beyond trying to resolve my issues even when the computer was not cooperating. I typically do not leave reviews but felt compelled to on this occasion.

Nobody's in charge can't talk to anybody about your bill they give you phone numbers to call and there's nobody to talk to just a machine all different types of numbers none of them lead to a human being that you can talk to about your bill
The facility's are not actually secure. Anyone could open a unit with a pair of channel locks. I have used three separate public storage locations and at each location management acts like they don't need or want your buisness to any income class of their customers. No grace period Whatsoever if you miss the 9 0clock access hours. I was out at 8:59, 9:04, and 9:12 not even relatively consecutively and the manager went far out of her way to have an attitude and threaten me with an eviction from the district manager. Never missed a payment had no other incidents whatsoever.
If you need something now and you seldom need to drop off and pick up its fine for a short period. Personal indiscretions with the staff will lead to extensive negative remarks in your file and they will follow you to every other public storage location without context
Cheap units and digital access to storage.
I absolutely love this storage facility. The manger Shelly is always so kind and helpful. Yes all businesses have hiccups and sometimes things are what they are but I know I can always get what I need and be treated with kindness and respect when I am there. I have had multiple units and no issues .
The funny thing about this storage company is they’re extremely nice to you when it comes to taking your money and getting you moved in, RIGHT NOW! However once you store your stuff in their buildings things change. My lock was removed from my unit, replaced with a “Public Storage” lock and I was never notified. Turns out whomever cut my lock off took their time going through all of my belongings and the belongings of my kids. They took over half of all the things I had stored in the unit. Including computers, tires, kids toys, blankets, clothes, office supplies and so much more. When I went to their office to ask about my unit and why there was a lock from their company the lady at the front desk just shrugged it off. She didn’t have any records of my lock being changed by them, and she then proceeded to kick me out of the office to go do “stuff” without any type of help or resolution. The person was gone from the office for over an hour and a half. I strongly DO NOT recommend you store your stuff here. As “secure” as they say they are with all their cameras and the gate that always breaks, there’s a lot of trash, people hanging out in the buildings and very uncaring staff. If your things get stolen the company doesn’t care, and won’t help. I filed a police report about my stolen items, but who knows if I’ll ever be able to recover any of my precious memories that were stolen.

Im extremely disappointed in the customer service and the way they run this business. Way too many issues to put in this review. I would love to speak with someone who can actually help with my concerns. The customer service is atrocious!
I have had 2 problematic units in a row at this facility. Due to an error with my auto-pay my bill was not paid this month the only time I have missed a payment. After having left a message that I would be in to square up the bill before August 1 my personal locks were cut the door left open and my unit was trashed and my most valuable possessions stolen, yet I am expected to pay my bill meaning I would be paying for willful negligence and/or outright theft. I have been accused of living in a tent on the property without evidence (untrue anyway my apartment is across the street) and dumping several days after a move to yet another unit (also false). I was clearly seen loading a friend's truck with a broken chair and bags of trash and taken to a dump. Renter's BEWARE: Management is corrupt uncooperative and unresponsive. The property is dirty the restrooms are filthy and usually without toilet paper and soap. The building is crumbling (bldg G) and floor 3 had/has birds flying around crapping on everything and rodents living in the ceiling and absolutely NO AIR flow. There are at least 3 renters running businesses out of their units and security? Dismal at best. I have never been treated this poorly by a business in my 54 years on this planet. I wouldn't recommend this place to my enemy.
Pro tip. If your battery backup can't survive standing by overnight to open the gate in the morning, you don't have a battery backup.

All elevators are down in the north building forcing renters to physically lug up their personal belongings floor by floor. No sort of answer from management when we inquired about a timeline regarding a fix. With there being storage units available on every corner these days, I highly recommend avoiding PublicStorage.

This Public Storage is an absolute joke. I have a unit on the third floor, and never in the 4 months that I’ve had the unit have both elevators been functioning. On top of that, on the day I intended to move out, with truck rental and movers scheduled, BOTH elevators were broken. This forced me to carry my things from one corner of the building to the literal opposite corner of the building to access stairs that were adjacent to the parking lot- all the other stairs in the building open up to grass.
Luckily I could use the carts to get my things to the stairs- until 6pm sharp when the manager came to lock them up. Literally zero accommodations were made to ease my move while there were no working elevators.
While I rented here I saw people treating their storage units like a living room (I’m not going to say they were living in their unit, but it was dang close), constant abuse to doors and elevators, non-functional locks, and a concerning lack of security.
If you can find any other storage solution, I recommend that over this poorly managed dumpster fire of a business who doesn’t care about the experience of their customers.
This is the most ridiculous experience I've ever had. Made reservation online. Confirmed online with their "express check-in" option. Arrived this afternoon to a closed office with a sign on the door saying they'll return tomorrow morning. Can't extend my reservation bc the unit isn't available according to corporate. Glad I made a reservation and drove all the way out here just to experience this. Oh and they said they had no idea if anyone would even be there tomorrow.
The experience with signing up, accessing the property, and the units was great. Shelly, the awesome employee who assisted me, is a asset to the company as her customer service skills are top notch. The property feels safe, it is very clean, and there’s a lot of value included here. The technology is really what drew me here (app based access, account management, etc.) I’d highly recommend for your storage needs.
