About Federal Heights

Located in Colorado's Adams County, Federal Heights is considered a suburb of Denver. Its small population gives it a small-town vibe, which might make it appealing if you crave relief from big- city life. The History of Federal Heights

In the late 1920s, Harvey Larsen built the first business in Federal Heights, a grocery store. Larsen originally worked for a railroad company, which was one of the largest industries in the area thanks to the droves of people who moved west during that time period. It wasn't until 1940, however, that Federal Heights became an incorporated city. In 1950, the recorded population was a mere 173 people, which quickly multiplied to almost 8,000 people by 1980. Since then, the city's growth rate has slowed somewhat, but a number of people still relocate to Federal Heights every year.

Many Federal Heights residents work in labor-intensive jobs, with nearly half of the city's population employed in blue-collar positions.
