Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 6200 Miramar Rd, San Diego, CA

Today, I had one of the luckiest days I have had in a very long time. I happened to be traveling to CA from TX for a surgery and have been really struggling to keep up with the rent increases over the past 4.5 years at PS. I had two spaces, that were just eating up money. I called letting PS know I was ready to give my 30 day notice bc there was no way I could justify the high rent. Heidi called me back, and she was so understanding and genuinely did not want to lose me as a customer and was trying to help me in every way. She contacted her regional manager, she spoke to colleagues, trying to work the problem out. Finally, she said, “why don’t you just move into a 10x15 and that will cost you $203.00 per month. Compared to $490, I was onboard 100%. Heidi arranged everything, the space, the transfer, how I could keep the rate as a longterm established customer, a way for me to be reimbursed for the increased rent after leasing the new space. She left no stone unturned. Everything went so smoothly. I drove from LA (after flying in from TX less than 12 hours prior), reserved movers, who showed up right on time, and I signed on the dotted line. I have rented for years at various locations, but I have never been inclined to review any of the facilities, until now. I cannot suggest this specific Public Storage more highly, because you will get to work with Heidi. She’s just a very bright soul, and she is so down-to-Earth, it’s so refreshing. I don’t love renting storage space, but Heidi lifted such a huge weight off of my shoulders and went above and beyond to make sure it all went smoothly. My surgery is tomorrow at 7:15 in Los Angeles, and I never could have gotten all of the moving pieces to work so seamlessly had it not been for Heidi’s help. She went above and beyond for me, a total stranger. I am incredibly grateful for her compassion for my situation, and sincere desire to keep me as a customer. I am nothing less than impressed. Huge price hikes every few months to the point where I moved my stuff elsewhere with better access for half the price. Staff are nice & helpful though.

Pretty upsetting - I've been renting from them for a little over 8 months- I moved to a smaller unit and was told by the manager lady to make a reservation online first and then they could just do a transfer. When I showed up for move in day for the new space, I was told by the same manager at the last minute, that the system wouldn't let her do a transfer- this meant that I couldn't get the promotional rate that I signed up for in the reservation, and because of that she told me that it would cost me over $50 extra per month. I guess they favor brand new tenants and then once they got you, that's that. Update: after I posted this original review, a manager contacted me stating that he wanted to address the review with me, and when we finally connected, he said he just wanted to make sure I didn't have any questions about their policies. I said, “no, I don't have any questions. I just know what the branch employee told me." So he basically told me that she was wrong without admitting it, since nothing changed as far as my monthly rate (it's still the higher price, and the “promotional rate” is only available to new customers, just like i said in my original review here (not sure why he decided to contact me after I posted my review, since I was/am just summarizing what the original employee told me) pretty poor customer service as far as I'm concerned (whatever happened to “the customer is always right”?)

Amazing facility and especially Fatimal who is the Manager of the facility. She is very pleasant and goes over and above what is expected to take care of her clients. Highly recommend!

We reserved a storage unit online & when we got to the facility Fatima brought us to see the space. When finalizing the agreement online, the unit was finalized by someone else. I was very disappointed and Fatima was so amazing and assisted us locating another unit. She was patient, understanding and provided all the information needed for an easy move in! She’s a wonderful person!!!

I needed a space for 6 boxes for a whopping three days. The gentleman who helped me book the space by phone was amazing, I wish I had got his name. Fatima at the front desk was absolutely amazing. Very friendly, very courteous. I couldn't be happier with the service I got.

Office always closed

Good luck getting any human service. I’ve used this place to store goods during a deployment. When trying to move in, it was nearly impossible to call a real person and the office was almost always closed. 6 months later, nothing changed. There’s also a single dolly in the entire premises to help with moving for our “convenience”. Sure people might steal them but is the solution to just ignore the problem and let customers just figure it out? Piss poor customer service given that we are required to serve ourselves.

I am disappointed in the service here at Public Storage. My grandfather and I rented an RV parking spot, and every time we came on weekdays (which was a frequent 4+ times per month) there was never anyone on site. The front office was not open once. I always came during business hours, and when it came time to cancel my space I rented, I was charged for an entire month because I could never reach anyone at the office. You would think if you're paying 200 dollars + for a parking spot/storage unit, there would be an attendant or even a bathroom on site that is accessible... Edit: After speaking with someone else on the phone about my experience there IS someone on site, but not necessarily in the office. No where is that posted on any of the doors to notify customers that someone is occasionally able to assist you.

A very clean and nice storage facility. But the best thing of all was Fatima who works in the office. Not only is she congenial and professional but she's so kind. When we we're shopping for a unit, she helped to guide us and select the best unit for our needs. She is absolutely amazing.

Highly recommend this place! I’m in the middle of a move and needed to a place to store my stuff. Nolan was very kind to show me 2 different storage space. I had a lot of questions as I never had a storage unit and he was kind and patient to answer all my questions. Great location, but more importantly the customer service and patience that Fatima and Nolan had with me while answering all my questions was outstanding.

I was looking for an RV spot today, and drove past Public Storage on Miramar Boulevard. I drove in and was pleasantly shown the various alternatives where I could park my RV. The manager, Fatima, was extremely helpful, and showing me the three spots, and assisting me and signing up to reserve one of them. I have been around several storage facilities and can tell you I have not met someone as pleasant and knowledgeable as Fatima. At her direction I was in and out of the facility within an hour. I feel very comfortable. This site is secure and very clean. Will be a good home for my RV. Rich.

SEARCH ELSEWHERE even if they offer a decent price. If you want a storage unit that will attempt to raise your monthly price by nearly 40% twice in less than 5 months, then you should consider this storage space. I was happy with my service here until they started unreasonably raising their prices on me. The sole reason I came here was because of their decent prices.

I went in on the 4th to secure a unit and had a pleasant experience with Fatima. She was helpful and friendly. I met Josh on the 11th, and he was also very helpful and a pleasure to encounter. I've read some of the reviews, and I do believe that when people get upset, they say things to discourage others from renting a unit. I've rented through public storage sporadically over a 31-year time span, and I've never had a bad experience. I've read reviews about their facilities being dirty; I've never seen that either. In fact, I used to work for public storage, and we had to keep the property clean, and public storage still stands by that. I've rented from other companies, and I regret trying to "get a deal." I'm back at public storage, where I feel most comfortable. Climate control is something that I would never skimp on again. I almost passed out at the other company's storage facility.

This is one of the better PS locations. The staff here are kind and helpful. They helped us shuffle some vehicles around spots when we had challenges. Very clean & secure storage. Sorry for the double parks when I was running in and out. I have multiple spots and just go too fast some times.

Very OVERPRICED for a place understaffed, dirty, with very poor security. I and a lot of other customers got ripped off a while back because they sacrificed security for profits and convenience. There are new storage companies in the nearby area that are better priced, clean and very secure, with true full air-conditioning even. Do your homework !

Save yourself the time of coming here even if you made an appointment because they are never open. They should be but they are not for some reason always when you come the doors are always locked and unfortunately that is also the restrooms are located. And the woman who works at the front desk is very nice when she is there but it’s not often we can speak with someone in person.

I had to come to this property because “JOSH” lost the keys to the facility at 9890 Pacific Heights. Not only did he lose the keys and jeopardize the security this further as we all waited there waiting to see what was going to happen another tennis unit was broken into in all of his stuff was stolen +4 very expensive guitars! No one is ever in the office to help us and win someone is there like Josh they are completely unreliable and incompetent. He should be embarrassed to even be wearing a name tag or a Public Storage shirt. If I were him I wouldn’t even want to be recognized as the property manager when it is literally a joke he has the audacity to admit he’s the manager. Unbelievable! The units are beyond over priced anyways. It’s unbelievable how fast they raise the rates and how much they raise the rates. Never in your French toast life rent a Public Storage save yourself the impending DOOM they will send you through and just rent at cubesmart or A-1 Self Storage. At least you’ll get 24 hour access and some respect.

They are tricky. This company have you move in with a really good deal, few months later they will increase the price and then again, and again. I didn’t notice because I was on autopay on the last time I was with them. Now this time I moved to a different location thinking it would be different and now with autopay off. And just a few months in, sure enough. Rent increased.. i am barely being able to pay the initial price. I can’t find an email on the app to send them a request to review it. Only way to talk to them is calling.

Do not come here. The first man could be 150 but in two months to rent is going to be 500 and then we cancel your cozy you can come in and nobody’s in the office to help you so you’re stuck and they treat your stuff like it belongs to them

Very helpful getting in and out. Make sure you really shop. Sometime going up a size might be cheaper. With in the different areas you could again find a better price for driving 5 mile more and if the special is right it could save you $%$.

Don't leave your vehicle here for storage, thieves will get in and steal the catalytic converter! The facility may have cameras, but they aren't the deterrence you would expect them to be. The surrounding walls are low enough that anyone can get over and mess around. You have been warned!

Used this location's facility for two years and the condition of the place is great. Very little to no dust accumulated during my 2 years of storage usage. Additionally, all the staffs are kind and awesome. It was a great experience.
