About Carmichael

Carmichael is located in Sacramento County and considered part of Greater Sacramento. It's family-friendly with a variety of amenities and a number of parks and outdoor attractions where you can enjoy Northern California weather.

The History of Carmichael

The area that's now Carmichael was part of a Mexican land grant in 1844. In the early 1990s, Daniel Carmichael bought the land, designating it Carmichael Colony. The first settlers purchased lots in the colony in 1907, and the area gradually developed into a business district. In the 1940s, Carmichael got its first bank, followed by the first major shopping complex in 1963. Over the next several decades, it continued to grow into the community that it is today.

Living in Carmichael

Today's Carmichael is a picturesque community with one of Sacramento's two regional libraries, two beautiful park districts and a 320-acre public golf course.
