I went to check on my belongings after a month in storage and noticed that the staff had clearly been in and moved my things around. They even opened all my boxes and threw my items around, as the tape on the boxes was torn off. It seems like they're casing people’s belongings, possibly to set up a break-in. My Husband & I went to 3 different storage companies & a gentleman by the name of TROY helped us here. He was sooo knowledgeable, personable, and very helpful. We told him we would be back the following weekend to move in. He informed us to lock in the price we saw at the moment by making a reservation, THANK GOD because it went up $50 a week later when we moved in. I went to the 385 Gerard Location & Marcus attended me & my partner, he was absolutely great, very professional & knowledgeable, he showed us 3 units to compare sizes, the facilities are very clean & everyone at this location is polite. I'd recommend this location.
Horrible a month ago storage rooms were robbed and the persons involved were caught, public storage gave no notification and now my locker was broken into 2 weeks after... be careful if you have a room here and haven't been here in the last month you should check your room

The customer service here is A-1. **Crystal T.**not only assisted me in making a payment ahead of my unit being sold, she also gave me a plethora of information about my unit, unit size options, the unit rental agreement, and payment options available. She even provided the U-Haul location to assist in my move!! This is the place to store your things, for sure.

How do you charge your your customers $10 for them paying a bill with customer service? I don't know is that not their job?? So basically the customer is punished for not paying their bill through their website which always has a technical issue with payments. We had a fantastic experience opening up our account at this location. We first met Jose who explained everything to us and escorted us to view a couple of units. He was informative and friendly. Then when we were ready to open our account, we worked with Crystal who was just as wonderful. She was patient, courteous and outgoing. Together, they made this process very easy!

They are great at Gerard Ave, Carolin, Crystal, Alma and George they were all great to me, location is nice, clean, and very secure.
Several items were recently stolen from my storage unit at Public Storage on 385 Gerard Ave. Unfortunately, filing a police report has been a slow process due to long wait times. This has caused significant stress and inconvenience, especially since another renter faced a similar situation while I was there.
Adding to my concerns, I recently learned that there are no security cameras on the individual storage unit floors. This lack of security measures makes it difficult to rule out an inside job.
I'm sharing this to warn others about the recent break-ins at this location and the potential security risks.

May 23rd, 2024, all of my belongings in a @publicstorage unit in the Bronx were auctioned off online by storage treasure. This has caused significant hardship, especially as I'm currently battling cancer. On that Sat May 25th, I was rushed to the emergency room for stress (17 hours of Regurgitating bile). I have been on my own since I was 16 years old. I don’t have family assisting me. I grew up in foster care. I'm the 1st generation to get past high school. I suffer from psychosomatic nerve pain, PTSD, anxiety & depression from childhood trauma & my son’s death. Everything I owned was in that storage unit.
For context, I've been a Public Storage customer since 10/2022. Unfortunately, due to my health struggles, I temporarily fell behind on a recent payment. I was unaware that the unit contents would be auctioned so quickly, especially without any attempt to contact me beforehand to discuss potential solutions.
This incident has resulted in the loss of irreplaceable sentimental items, including photos, diplomas, identification & even my son's ashes. While I understand the need for businesses to enforce payment policies, in this instance, a more humane approach could have prevented significant emotional distress.

This storage facility seems damn near brand new! I rented a unit for a mere 29$ a month! What a steal. I am very pleased with the security amenities that the facility offers. It is quite secure. As well, very clean and staff is quite friendly. The only complaint that I may have is that the office hours are not very accommodating to people that may work during the day. They close their facility quite early, at 6pm on some days. This is inconvenient, but I guess it's to keep the riff raff out.

The facility is well-maintained, and the South Bronx location is convenient to my Harlem-based business. Reserving on-line in advance offers better pricing, and less-frequent rent increases would make it ideal. Overall, we've been satisfied with Public Storage/Gerard Avenue for over a decade!

This Public Storage has the best staff. Shoutout to both Troy and Josh. My Mom had a storage unit here. She passed away unexpectedly a few months ago and so my siblings and I had to retrieve her things. We dealt with Josh who was such a sweetheart and super understanding during a very difficult time. He was great.
Recently we decided to get a smaller storage unit. I stopped by yesterday with my brother and this time we were assisted by Troy. Troy was great. He was knowledgeable and very thorough while going over the rates, etc. Great sense of humor too. Both Troy and Josh have great personalities and are excellent when it comes to Customer Service.

This Public storage facility is nice and clean! It’s the best so far and worth their prices! However I can’t afford them but the workers they have are amazing especially Jose! He made me realize what sizes fit me the best and unfortunately I did go to a different storage unit because public storage prices was a little to high for me! I went in today November 29,2023 to rent a storage unit. Fortunately I was able to speak with a gentleman named Miguel. I must say it was a good choice because, I was very comfortable with his conversation as well as everything that he explained to me.He also took time to take me up to see the storage unit that I was interested in renting so that I could see it before I finalized my purchase. Horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible service. As far as renting a space they are okay but as far as reaching this site to speak to someone I’ve been trying to reach them the past two days and I call every other hour and I haven’t gotten back any kind of response. I’ve been a paying loyal customer as of august 22, 2022 and this is my first time having an issue because they are remodeling my floor and everyone needs to evacuate their items before December and I have so much going in my life where I have misplaced my keys so when I went there they said that they need to email the property manager to click my lock and they’ll email me, they never emailed me and I did miss the call by a minute but trying to get a hold of them for the past day has been ridiculous I’ve been calling for several hours and even customer service was very unhelpful and unpleasant and rude . I am disappointed by this treatment since I have been a loyal paying customer for over a year now..

It was my first-time experience with Public Storage and all I can say is I recommend them to everyone! It started with a phone call from Josh, the manager of the Public Storage I made a reservation with. He welcomed me for joining up and kindly explained the entire process. When I arrived I worked with Doug, another manager. He was excellent too! He showed me to several units snd helped me narrow it down to one that fit my needs. Thanks team, I’m glad I signed up at this Public Storage!

Wow! Typically a corporate office deals with their customers with empathy, and understanding. Unfortunately, this is not the case with Public Storage. Their saving grace are their employees. In specific, Carolin, Crystal and Douglas. They are all amazing and work impeccably as a team. When I ran into a problem with my reservation, They all took the time to hear my needs, emphasize with my situation, and make sure that I received the best unit to fill my needs. They all joined in together in resolving problems in making the reservation process less troublesome. They are true professionals and Public Storage is lucky to have them represent the company. If it weren't for them, I would have taken my business elsewhere. If you are going to rent from the Gerard Ave location, make sure to ask for them for your assistance.

When you call to ask for a price adjustment they automatically assume that you don’t want to pay and they tell you “if you don’t pay the increase we will not give you access to the unit”

Worst customer service experience I’ve ever had with a storage Company. They keep raising the unit price by 55% in like one year and when you call to complain they harass you and say “well, if you don’t pay we’ll not allow you access to your unit.” They automatically label you a delinquent when you’re just calling to inquire about the price increase.
I’ll never deal with them. Ever!

Carolin is always nice, very knowledgeable I’ve been coming here for a while, building is well led, bathrooms are always clean, staff is friendly and prices are very competitive.

Update as 13 months into storing with Public Storage at this location -- from the first month of "normal fees" (i.e., not the "free month and discounted first month rates, but normal listed rates) to 13 months later, they have increased the monthly rate by 80%. Consider yourself warned.
Avoid if you’re looking for long-term storage, as there’s a bait and switch with pricing. You move in, and four months later they increase your rate by 35% (or more). The representatives at the actual location can assist with delaying it by 3 months, but then the increase is applied again 3 months later. Efforts to email “wecare@publicstorage” are fruitless and ignored entirely. Contracts are month-to-month which is normal, but price increases within the first six months is absurd. There’s no incentive to stay long-term, just use them as a stopgap / short-term solution.
On the upside, the staff is nice and the units and space are clean. They also have an app, which is helpful most of the time, but it’s buggy. Location services don’t always work to unlock the doors, and when trying to update a payment, I got errors, which then resulted in a late fee. After opening a ticket requesting a one-time courtesy refund of the late fee, it was denied by the “wecare” team.
There’s definitely better storage solutions out there that will value customers long-term.

I know this struggling man came out of a 10x10 space and I couldn't see high losing the rest of his personal property. Usually very good but the person I dealt with today not very good @ customer service s bit obnoxious. Would not accommodate my move in. I came early lots of carts refused to let me use 2. Then when I saw other using 2. After 2 trips. I was able to get a second cart.

Amazing young man with great customer service. Something that people have lost long ago this young man will go a long way and the company should appreciate him. Joshua is his name … inform e me of all my options and all the companies regulations with no pressure to do anything o didn’t agree on .
Unfortunately I cannot give a good rating because Public Storage changes the price anywhere from 6 months to a year from the introductory price. And it keeps going up. Public Storage neglects to tell you this. The other problem is the hours of operation. They close at 7pm weekdays and 6pm weekends. For people who work, it is very difficult to get here. The hours should be extended to at least 8pm. Sadly I can't change my review. The hours are too short. On a positive note, the staff are helpful and polite.

Was greeted by Troy when I came in for my reservation, he was well mannered and well spoken, I did not feel rushed or annoyed; He was also able to help me select the perfect size unit for storage and also help me save extra $$$ from promotions.
We needed to find a a storage unit to hold a bunch of furniture while we deal with moving, and Troy who helped us was great - knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous. We have used Uhaul in the past but are happy with switching to Public Storage. Moving is stressful but people like Troy make it manageable.

While visiting CubeSmart, I decided to come by and compare prices here. I was greeted by John who showed me the perfect size. Between John and Crystal I got the perfect space for an amazing rate. The facility is so clean and the staff is amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone who asks.
I was robbed at 385 Gerald ave location. It was a set up. They took all the security from the entrance door where you need to use your key code to get in the building. The door open all that week I was told from another person who stores there. They also had someone riding the the elevator allowing people to get accessto every floor without enteringa code. It was a black man claiming he was security. The security was taken away allowing anyone to come into the building. There are 4 large elevators and they all were in use in the moring. I left out to go get something to eat and by the time I came back they shut down 3 elevators with a piece of paper saying out of order. It was the end of the month when people are moving in and out.
I had things moved from one unit to another whereas most of my boxes never made it there. The people who help me move was part of the set up. It took almost 20 minutes to get the elevator and when it came they were crowded. It was an awful experience. I notice a few months before every time I would go to my unit someone from the office would show up on the floor. I now realized my coming and going was being monitored by the staff. All my personal items and family history was wiped out. They had to worked with the people who was help me. As long as I stored there it was never a security problem or anyone riding the elevator giving any and everybody access. This was a crime. I would suggest you not storage here. These people are crooks they aided and abetted. This was a deliberate act of criminal activity. Everyone one who was on duty on this day is also guilty heinous crime.

this place is a blessing. Moving sucks, particularly if you’re trying to save costs and do it yourself, but they have made it about as easy as possible even super last minute like my situation. While I wish they were open a little later to help avoid rush hour traffic in the evening, otherwise I’m very happy with this place. They have enough people on staff at all times that you don’t wait around and everyone is no frills but helpful, and the units are pretty reliable and clean. Their loading dock is clutch without a lot of road congestion.
Douglas was so informative the other day. Our band is looking to store with a storage company, and he told us all the benefits to store with public storage.

When you start with them everything is awesome, then six months later they increase your rent by $50 dollars! Something that is not mention when you rent the space, without previous notices. Since my rent payment is deducted from my bank account is very easy just to take the money. Very bad practice just tell you when you call to ask for the increase.

I spoke with Doug he was patient with me asking 10000 questions, I stressed I was worried about storing my deceased grandfather belongings someplace while we figure out what to do with it all his stuff. Doug was efficient and thorough it was good to have his help as you can imagine my brain was foggy with the loss but I know Doug set me up correctly. If I you need to store anything away for a time period this is the place.

Congested not enough parking space and the Resellers be hogging up or the loading dock space in the back have to carry items from a far distance just to get to my unit

Elevator is always out of service
Highly DISGUSTED! I had a high opinion of the place when I initially moved in 6 months ago and had no issues until I moved out. Only 1 elevator was working on 2/27. This is the last weekend of the month and traffic is always high on these days, it in totally inexcusable to have this poor service during these times. I spent 4 hours waiting for elevators to take things to the truck or come back up for more. Many times the elevator was naturally full with other customers. The staff did nothing but make announcements about being patient and, even spoke over my wife when she tried to give suggestions like have a staff member man the elevator. I was moving into a new place and no longer needed the storage but, this validated my decision and will gladly not spend another dime with this place! The rates went up 33% after the initial 6 months so, my decision was easy but, this was the cherry on top.
Hi I have rent storage unit form different company. I could said that public is one of the worst storage company I have dealt with. I have made a reservation online put the day to move in and circumstance was not able to move in and got charge 37.00 for no reason and when I call the store they told me that it could not refund and the lock that I didn’t pick up could not get refund. I would NEVER Recommend People to use public storage
I go in, I go out. Never an issue unless you get there close to closing time. That's when most carts are in use, and elevators are busy.

Today is my first month so far so good. Mr. John was very accurate and informative about the storage facility and the do's and donts. He took his time in explaining and making sure everything was great yo go before I left. Great help dont come easy Mr. John you are an amazing example of that. Such a peaceful experience.
Me gusta el storage lo único que no le doy las 5 estrellas es porque si uno paga antes del último día no hay problema pero si pagas al otro día del último pago te cobran como una mensualidad de tarjeta de crédito $25.60 y creo que es demaciado estabien que cobren $5 por cada día de atraso pero $25.60 es demaciado y suben la renta todos los años a $40.00 más y eso no es justo como va a ser que un cuarto 5×10 pague $184 ese es el pago de un 10×10 de verdad que public storage son unos ladrones
I had a great experience, Carolin and Joshua were amazing, took their time to show me and explain me how everything works, moving process is always stressful but I forgot about that as soon as I put a step into this facility, they made me feel welcome and that my items were secured. Nice and clean place. Definitely recommend it.

Many thanks to John (employee) for quick and informative support in opening a new account. I needed a storage room and was able to have one opened in less than 20 mins, John showed me what rooms were available and at what pricing. I can’t stress this enough, I had the keys in less than 20 mins!!! Happy customer!
