Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 830 N Rengstorff Ave, Mountain View, CA

Update: I recommend renting from another company. I was at the gate around 8 pm tonight and there was an out of order sign on the gate. How are customers supposed to access their paid storage units? I will be submitting a complaint. There isn’t an after hours emergency contact number and customer support said it could take up to 72 hours for a response from the property management. No courtesy to let renters know anything about a broken gate. There is only one way in and one way out. There is hardly anyone in the office or answers the phone. This property is poorly managed. The old couple needs to be replaced. I recommend finding a climate controlled storage. These storage units are extremely hot during the summer. I went to my storage today and felt suffocated and difficult to breath due to the extreme heat. They really need to put warning signs up or at least put in a ventilation system. If you store electronics it will be ruined due to the heat and moisture. Buy DampRaid or something to absorb the moisture.The units are made of cheap plywood and there are gaps in between units which means if the surrounding storage units bring in bugs they will escape to your unit. I’ve seen spiders, flies and other bugs in my unit and I had to buy bug spray. There is no light in the units either so you have to use a flash light. The price isn’t worth it and if I wasn’t moving out of state soon, I’d move my stuff to another storage company. The price is expensive for what you get.

New July 2024: There is a serious pest control problem here. I see roaches, spiders, bugs, and flies in my storage unit. I dont store food or anything else that would attract them. I regret moving my belongings here. At my previous storage company they had 4x4 concrete walls with zero space for neighboring or outside bugs to get into your unit. I didn't have this problem there. Looking back, the price was worth it. Public Storage units are cheaply built with wood and gaps in between units. I called the front office and we could barely understand each other. The summer months are extremely hot and unbearable inside the units and no AC. I can't wait to move!!! Update: Twice I've been stuck in the gate. The app doesn't work or my gate code. There isn't an after-hours number displayed. I would never rent from Public storage again! Update: I've only rented from here a few months and already received a notice about a drastic rental increase. With no light and wood flooring in the storage unit, I don't think it is worth the price. Friendly staff and easy move-in. I love using the app to open the gate! I found an excellent move-in deal online. The cons are: -No lights in the storage unit, and since the units are dark wood, it makes it harder to see inside your storage unit. -The storage units have wood panels and flooring. I worry about terminates and moisture. -I wanted to use my own lock. When you rent online, a lock is automatically included with an extra charge. -Only one way in and out. -Be careful when leaving because cars are parked on the street blocking your view, and it is difficult to see oncoming traffic and pedestrians on bikes.

Have had my storage since 2014 and management is really the best here. I went to another storage facility prior and Ed really goes beyond the help I received there. He really is helpful and helped to set up my space and reserve it sight unseen.

This place sucks, elevators stopped working twice and we were on the 3rd floor with our stuff. There's never any carts available that aren't broken. They keep raising the prices after a couple months I started paying 70 dollars and now I'm almost at 290 with insurance. Avoid this place!! This company sucks honestly glad we are moving to another company owned rental storage.

I rented a 10x10 indoor unit on the second floor with them. I started on 2021-10-03 and here are the updates in prices I have experienced. 2021-10 : $161 2022-04 : $219 (36% increase) 2023-04: $290 (32% increase) These adjustments to price are clearly much higher than inflation and COA. The location manager (Ed) is a nice person and I have always had good interactions with him. However calling them doesn't help because it goes to voicemail. The unit is just ok. The walls are made of plywood and there are big gaps at the top so that air (and whatever else) is shared by all the units. I still use dehumidifiers. :shrug. It has a wooden floor and there is no light. The door is a roll-up shutter. The elevator is big, but very slow. If it weren't for these price increases I would have given them a higher rating, but as such this seems like bait-and-switch. Public storage entices customers with cheap introductory prices and then piles on huge increases every year.

Ed was amazing. He helped me change unit’s so easily. He helped me save a lot of money on the new units.

Came in a was immediately helped by the Manager (Ed), who is very nice and helpful. He allowed us to look at my reserved unit, and helped us make changes instantly. It was a very pleased experience and I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone!

Absolutely wonderful! In every respect. When I showed up to move my things out of my unit, the gate was broken. I called Public Storage and they were woefully unhelpful. BUT THEN, from around the corner, came one of the owners of the franchise who was walking her dog (it was several hours before the office was scheduled to open). She noticed my distress, and unlocked the pedestrian gate so I could start moving my things. Her husband then came to fix the gate, no problem. THEY ARE WONDERFUL and I am prepared to fight anyone who says otherwise. WOULD GIVE EIGHT STARS IF I COULD.

Hands down the best Public Storage experience I’ve ever had (and I’ve had several over the years!). I’ve been here a year and a half and the team here is marvelous. Ed is so nice and helpful. The facility is clean and safe. I really appreciated that my stuff was conveniently stored here. If I ever needed them I would definitely come back and recommend them!

the management at this public storage location has been wonderful, they have been helpful and accommodating, easy to get in touch with, always call me back when I need something. this location is very clean, I feel my items are safe . Ed The manager always ready and willing to be helpful with whatever we need.

It was very quick and easy to start a rental with Ed's help. I like that their IT systems are set up to easily be paperless, with tablets and even be able to open the access gate from their app without having to get out of the car and punch in the code (that's still available if desired though). Location is very convenient.

Property Manager, Ed and Jenny are wonderful! I had accidentally reserved 2 units, and Jenny ensured I got the best price, and both Ed & Jenny were extremely helpful with getting me set up and moved in. Personal attention and well kept up property
