Douglas is always so nice and ready to help. I come here a lot for work items and I must say, I see him all the time cleaning the compound. He is always pleasant and says hello. I shopped around in the area for a good storage unit, and this one is by far the best. Not just because of the offering, but their staff is always so nice and helpful.

Will not rent here again, staff was very rude, the door closes and locks so quickly that moving more than 1 thing is near impossible unless you block the door. The elevator is slow, very damaged and hasn't been inspected since 2019.

Mr. Douglas at the front desk was incredibly kind and helpful. The storage is also quite optimal and easy to access.

These units are VERY well maintained. Not only do they offer modern technology, EASY online reservations and payments, access to ur space via Bluetooth, elevators, and outstanding support, but Douglas at this location is TOP NOTCH! You can tell he takes pride in making sure the entire property is looking and smelling fresh! He knows the business and is very personable! I HIGHLY recommend Public Storage,especially on Dale Ave. The cleanliness alone is priceless!

Today, I visited this location as a guest with two individuals (male and female) who rent a unit here. My friends parked in the loading zone and I parked in an empty space. Upon approaching their vehicle, I was greeted with an unhappy "oh you're with them?" to which I said yes. There was minimal conversation & we proceeded to carry some items up to the unit. We stayed inside and organized for a bit, then the female & I came back down to grab some more. We were both smoking a cigarette while unloading more items when the "head property manager" approached us and said "hurry it up, ladies! Hurry it up!" with a snarky attitude and proceeded inside the building. At some point, she and I went to the office to ask for a dolly and caught attitude from him again. He claimed to have asked the couple if they needed it beforehand, but he had not... Later on, the female had went back downstairs by herself and ended up on the elevator with him, where he made uncomfortable comments about her naturally red hair saying "that explains a lot".... Pardon me, sir. But what exactly do you mean by that??? You have no idea who this person is, and have only had one other encounter with her. Whether it be harmless or not, what you said was rude and unprofessional. He also told her that she needed to wear closed toed shoes the next time she visits as if this is a policy that was absolutely meant to be followed & given to her upon renting the unit. I have rented many units, and have never been told this "rule", so I found that fairly odd. On a different note, three other individuals showed up during our timeframe here. They were all spoken to courteously and given tours/directions of the building. The individuals I was with were not given the same courtesies that others were, which bothered me. Aside from these interactions described, the property's upkeep is managed nicely. It is clean and without debris, clutter, or trash despite there not being a visible dumpster or even trash cans to put trash in if need be. Elevators, sliding doors, and entry by phone all worked phenomenally. Unfortunately, there was only one dolly and it was being used while we were there. Definitely recommend that they invest in another one for instances such as this. Last but not least, I found it odd that there were no cameras in the parking lot, in the event that something were to happen (albeit day or night).

No carts, no staff, and no service on Dale Ave. Doug stands in front of the building and smokes. It was raining and I did not have my phone and he would not let me in even though he knew who I was. I have another unit in Hollins where the staff is always there to help. DO NOT RENT HERE!

Douglas is amazing and I feel so safe stopping to drop off and pick up items. He is very friendly and seems to take a great deal of pride in his job. The location is located between my home and work. While it is not located in the best neighborhood - it is very convenient. Having Douglas at the desk makes me feel safe.

He got my rent reduced and was right on it I definitely recommend

The storage is ok but this is the first time I paid and the person at the storage said he couldn't take the payment over the phone. Don't understand that because when I got it they sure took the payment. Then it wouldn't let me change debit card online and finally when it took the payment it charged 10 bucks! 10 bucks for doing it online. That's a straight up rip off. Never again will I pay again because I will just get the stuff out. It wasn't but a 5×5 and have to pay 80 bucks a month? Nope,not me.

The on-site manager was never in the office, he smoked/vaped on & in the property which caused the building, units, and our belongings to smell. Our items were stored for approximately 6 months and upon moving out were covered in mice droppings. Once we moved out, the unit was marked available with a new rental price of $159, way below our original monthly rental price of $191 for the same 10x20 unit. Beginning in January 2024 our price was to increase to $242. We were informed at the beginning of our rental agreement random increases are to be expected, however, they hardly seem reasonable. Previous reviews mention similar concerns, with response from the owner stating, “thanks for bringing this matter to our attention, your feedback helps us improve”, however, there doesn’t seem to be improvement. I'm more disappointed at how the building is managed rather than the prices.

The employee Amanda there is so awesome! She has great customer service skills and she is very understanding! Only thing I don’t like is that they keep going up on the units that’s all . But Amanda thank you I appreciate you !

Infested with Bed Bugs Cockroaches and Mice and had to throw all my belongings away. Terrible experience... Most the time there tiny elevator was broken. They're trying to charge me for 2 months I didn't even use the unit after I left. I would not recommend this place for anybody unless you want to throw all your stuff away.

This is the nastiest storage building I have ever been in, there is a mice problem, every last thing of mine had dead mice and mice poop all over it. The staff locks up during office hours so if you need help don’t bother trying the office. Elevator also breaks constantly, as well as price has been going up insanely.

They have mice and is unsanitary. Mice drippings in ALL of my things

The property manager, Will, at the Dale Ave location in Roanoke, VA is awesome! He helped me with an issue and it was resolved within 2 hours. I’m very happy I chose this property. Will and the other employees I have met there have all been so nice to work with. I definitely can recommend this location.

They have only gone up in price over the few years I have had a unit. I went with them for convenience and security. I have found my property rearranged in my unit without permission or notification. I recently found the corpse of a mouse in my unit. But, don't be late on a payment...

If I could give zero stars I would. Dirty, always a issue with the doors therefore no security, staff is rude (especially you who told us to get a SERVICE dog out of the building), have you seen this place? It's a terrible environment for what you pay for. I'd recommend moving your stuff out ASAP.

This storage facility use to be one of the best. Over the last year it has really gone down. I went today to get my Christmas things out, the doors to the inside were standing wide open therefor no security, anyone could get in, you needed no passcode. There was no way to get a dollie to help get your things out. The sign on the office said it was open however the doors were all locked up and the office was dark with three Dollie’s lock up inside. I called the number on the door and still have no had a return call three hours later.The elevator was extremely filthy with roaches. I hope to be able to leave this place soon but do not want the roaches to come with me. It is a common thing to never find anyone or get a call back. It’s turned into a dump.

Verzet was the best customer service I ever had we was stress out and she made us happy and was really calm in the situation and never gave us a bad attitude she kept her GROUND !!!

I came to the public storage with my grandmother who is having health issues. There were two people working that day but I spoke to someone name Esther. She was very sweet and she even helped my grandmother with some of the bags she was struggling with.

I stayed with my sick daughter who could not breathe from coughing all night. In the morning while she went to go get checked out at the hospital I then got blamed for smoking in a room where there was no smoke. I guess from my luggage they thought I was homeless due to the fact that there were beggers all up and down the hallways. The walls need to be scrubbed down and not to mention blood stains in the bathroom. Don't waste your money here.

I wouldn't recommend here. The office is never open when you need a cart , the workers are rude , and it's to much money to not even have a trash can to throw away some of you're stuff or even a piece of paper. It's disgusting how they will literally smoke a cigarette right in you're face. But if you like all these options I just told you then this place is for you. 🤮🥶😤💩

I went in the office a week ago and had a conversation with a property manager named Esther. She was very nice and polite and answered all of my questions, and also had great customer service. Because of her I would definitely recommend anyone to public storage! :)

I have been using this place (a 5x5 unit) for almost three years now. The building is great and the staff is great. Here’s why it gets one star. When I first rented it was around 75 a month, then eventually 90. That’s not a big deal. Now as of today with no warning it has gone up to 122 a month for a 5x5. That’s a 35% increase from last month out of the blue. With how rough things are you can do better for long term customers than a random 35% increase. Will be canceling this month after I move my things to a new unit.

Doesn’t really make sense why I have to wait for the attendant everytime I need to access the unit and carts that I pay for, monthly. Recently moved and have had to go back and forth more than usual and EVERY time I go she is never in the office when it says someone should be available.
