Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 4720 Business Dr, Fredericksburg, VA

My unit was fine when I moved in at the beginning of September 2024. But when I went back a week later someone had emptied out their unit into the hallway blocking other units. It was only feet away from my unit and I was concerned for bugs and rodents getting into other units. I returned again to find everything still in the hallway. I tried to call the Fredericksburg local office several times but could never reach anyone. So I finally called the main number to lodge a complaint. I was told I would get a response within 72 hours. Never received a return call. I checked the building again and the hallway was clear. BUT… all of the contents had been shoved into a unit with stuff sticking out from under the door. Obviously, that was their solution because there was no lock on the door. Plus, the hallways were littered with trash from other move-ins. I will attempt to call one more time to get some kind of resolution. I continue to regularly check my unit to make sure that there are no bug or rodent infestations. I find it interesting that they respond to positive reviews, but never anything negative.

These people are stealing peoples money, you pay for the unit online. Then if you decide not to get the unit they won't reimburse you your money. This is crazy. That's why they get you to pay online. I'm calling the corporate office. And the lady was Rude that I spoke too. These people need customer service training. People work hard for their money.

Was 5 stars: exit gate is destroyed, vehicles and moving trucks can now get locked in after hours. Tenant beware!

Miss Julia at the front office was so sweet. She helped me and my wife find the perfect space, answered all of our questions, and made the entire process so easy. "Moving is hard, we're here to make it easy" she said. Five stars aren't enough for this young lady.

I only used these services for a really short period of time because of their customer service. Almost a month ago, I moved from Stafford to Fredericksburg VA. When I was taking a look at the Fredericksburg location I came across an employee that was assisting contractors on fixing the gate that apparently was run over pretty bad. I rolled down my window and was trying to ask the lady in “uniform “ a question….. she replied that she “is not on the clock, therefore she couldn’t answer a question. Today, I decided to take my stuff out of this place. There was not a cart available in the building my unit was….i went to the next building and there was only a damaged cart, wheels all messed up and couldn’t turn at all. As I was canceling my business I tried to explain to her what had happened, she told me people move in n out and that’s not “her problem “ where the carts are located. Very odd response, very poor service, I feel bad for this employee, maybe she was having “2” really bad days when she dealt with me. I guess it’s understandable. I just hope she does not show this same approach to other customers that perhaps won’t take it as lightly as I did. This employee is the cause I cancelled and ever if I need these kind of services, this company will not be taken upon consideration. She definitely needs training on how to deal and approach customers.

Need to enter a code to leave and it’s in a difficult spot if you’re not in a truck. Pricing is insane, even though they have empty units and will let you cut your bill by nearly 2/3 if you move units regularly. Sorry if you’re not full, that’s your problem. Potholes and poor roads inside. Units are small for the price.

I Vacated on the 30th of July. Have not received my Vacate notification. I need the email.

Conveniently located. Friendly and helpful staff. They keep it clean and well maintained. Staff regularly patrol /monitor the entire site. Gate / Secured storage units. No access after 9pm. Code needed to enter/exit. If you exit after 9pm you receive an automated email with warnings of the exit time violation. All units must be secured at all times. They do check. If you inadvertently leave your unit unlocked they will lock it with their locks to secure it until you arrive to secure it with your own locks. My only complaint is the price climbs regularly. Within the 2.5 years of using their service, my cost on my unit has MORE THAN doubled. They do let you know of the regular price increases in advance.

Bait and switch. They get you in with one rate and raise it astronomically. Ours was raised from $195.00 to $280.00 over the course of just 3 months. We moved to uhaul storage down the road as they do not do that. The introductory rate is great but then they pull the rug out and increase it.

I'm very happy with the staff here! This is my very first time to use a storage in my life. Ms. Darci showed me the storage, offered me the best deal at the moment. The team seems to enjoy the work or they are good team, and didn't give me a grumpy face for anything. Very professional, I stopped them couple times while they were doing their task throughout the units and they were able to assist me right there and then. Overall great service and recommending them to my friends who are look for a great place to store their belongings. Front desk lady, I forgot her name is able to answer all your questions.

Jessica was absolutely unprofessional! She called my husband and I and left a voicemail about a past due balance. When we advised her to call our lawyer, she refused and advised me to call her district manager. She got an attitude and refused to take down their information or case number. When I told her to have her manager contact our lawyer or myself for the information. She simply says "okay" and hangs up the phone on me. A BBB has already been filed. I have never seen such unprofessionalism and hanging up on anyone doesn't solve the problem.

We used the online feature and was able to check in and get a storage without needing to go inside. Our unit was outside, so I sprayed my unit down with bug barrier spray to keep insects out. Zero contact entry and exit is a nice touch. You can open and close the gate with an app.

Relief Manager Sheena was very friendly and greeted us with a smile as she came back to the office. My friend and myself were there this day because we had won two units at auction. And had driven more than 130 MI from emporia and has started in Portsmouth and Virginia Beach. Relief manager Sheena was very professional and quickly had us out to our units and remove the locks for us. I was there for one particular unit that was up for auction. It had cabinets that I figured I could use in my home after a kitchen fire in November of 2021. The photos that were taken by the facility for the auction we're very clear and left no doubt as the condition of the items. I also bid on another unit that was up for auction for my friend who collects Legos. Her unit had a very nice collection of assorted artwork, furniture, a very nice chess board, which she gave to me for a gift, and some miscellaneous items. Included are some photos of some of the things that we recovered and of the office. The facility is very very clean. The only issue that we had was due to the topography of the facility. You see my unit was on high ground and back the trailer right up to it. Her unit was an interior unit and roughly 14 ft lower than my unit. We loaded the cart from her unit and had to roll it up hill which was a task in itself. Even had one load completely up in when the cart decided to go its own way. Scratched up a lot of furniture which really upset my friend as it was very nice furniture. I would buy from here again if a unit had to have what I required but it is a long way from Portsmouth.

Love the extended hours to access your unit! The code to get in is handy and the units are nice and spacious. Much better experience than with other storage units I’ve rented. Happy customer!

Had a great experience using this location of Public Storage. I have been using storage for office purposes in different locations but renting storage space here in this location was very convenient and easy. Staff member ( Darci and Sheena) are very welcoming. I moved my residence to Fredericksburg and accessing the storage space in this location was a lot easier.

Average storage location.

Public Storage is the worst. BE WARNED - If you plan to rent long term, expect your rates to go even during a pandemic. They just raised my rates again 23% this year. The same unit is renting for $200 less for new customers. Corporate is unresponsive or does not fully read or comprehend emails. I’ve rented with this area since 2018.
