Easy self-service property
I paid for a 5x5 unit to store a bag for a couple weeks. I was sent the move in info including a gate code/code to unlock the exterior door to get into the building with my unit. When I arrived, the gate was wide open. When I drove up to building A where my unit was supposed to be, the exterior doors were open (two exterior doors because I went to the wrong one first). I guess that was a good thing because the code I was provided to enter had a ‘9’ and the keypad only had 1-5. When I got to what was supposed to be my unit, the unit had a locked lock on it. I went to use the kiosk and the door to the kiosk was locked (which I do need to mention it was 4 minutes before closing). I wish I read some of the other reviews first. Not looking forward to jumping through hoops to get my money back.
Imagine having to pack up you and your child’s entire life, put it into a 10x5 storage unit until you find a place as a single mom, and having that unit broken into, robbed and being notified by a voicemail. Then noticing the entire hall got robbed so security is obviously lacking. Then imagine finally finding a home to start your new life, moving out accordingly with your documented move out date (there’s nobody there in person to confirm, only a kiosk.) you set your date, call to confirm, don’t get through. Leave several voicemails, try to email but no email is available. You try to message in the app but it’s not an option. You move out and leave more voicemails to confirm. Then you find out that they’re still charging you, FINALLY over a month later you hear back but they say you owe money for a unit you vacated. You explain, they take ownership saying their voicemails were getting forwarded to another location so it wouldn’t be an issue. Then you find out that you got sent to collections for money you don’t owe. AND the claim for your stolen family items is denied due to not having enough proof because they took it upon themselves to use a different lock after you got robbed. I don’t say this about many places, but please don’t waste your time or money here. Customer service, safety, security and overall experience is terrible.

The location is great but their access hours are not convenient for working people. 9:30am-6pm, when all other storage facilities are from 6am-10pm if not 24hrs.
Fast forward a year they doubled rates and now only open during the week during business hours, if you go after hours be prepared to wait at gate because you have to call to get them to allow exit which can take 15+ minutes to screen you. Do not lease here. There are better places.
PUB Storage 1001 Mason Rd. I will take this time to make sure credit is given freely where it is due.. Staff at Mason rd are Amazing! I have had personal experiences dealing with Miss Gina and Miss Michelle - they really are down to earth folks who go the extra mile within their business capacity. Always helpfull. They make you feel like your bisness is appreciated and your more than just another number. I always leave knowing I'm a valued customer and they deliver more than just transaction. I have also had brief encounter with other staff at this location and they are always great folks to deal with. Much appreciated !Thank you!!

Went on-line and rented a 5X10 AC unit and paid the $72 fee for it. During which the instructions said that if you already have a lock, go to the office and get the 19.99 refund applied to your account. I also wanted to add my wife on the account, also told to go office to do. Received the gate and supposedly the door code by email. Loaded up my SUV and went down. The "office" door is just to access a kiosk, the is no human attendant on the property. The Gate code worked and went to the building. The lock on the building door is an old 30 year old push button keypad with the numbers 1-5 on them. The code for the gate will not work on the building doors. I called the 833 number for support, but received None. I got the managers voice mail and after 3 days, still no Call, Text or email from the manger of the store. I also called the 281 number, also left voice mail, also with no replay in 3 days. Tired of the run around, went to cooperate website and chatted with a support rep and explained the issue and told them to cancel and refund the 72.00 He would not, saying it was after 24 hour's, which is what they told me to do. There is no live person here and should something goes wrong, corporate says too bad we screwed ya, but have a nice day. Going to another company that hopefully has a real person at the store.
NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL!! You are on your own in this place. They lock gates early and charge way too much. Stay away from the specials cause they go away fast after they hook you.

I recently purchased a unit here. There sign says daily access granted between 6am - 9pm.
I have came twice this week the first day I came at 5:50 and was able to get in I went to leave at around 6:03 and the gates were locked I could not exit the property. Why would you lock the gates with someone still inside and why would you lock it before 9pm. The property managers son was still there and had to call her to come open the gates. I then came back another day at 5:55 and again the gates were locked. If your hours are not 6am- 9 pm take that off the gate and put your correct hours.
Their hours online a in person are inaccurate. They open at 9:30 and close at 6.
Arrived at the gate at 8:40, sign on the gate says access hours are from 6AM-9PM, but the code box says they’re closed. Called the “after hours” number just for them to tell me I’m out of luck and have to wait for 50 min until they open.
Ashly was fantastic. She walked me through the entire process with a tremendous smile on her face and went above and beyond to ensure that my check-in went smoothly. Additionally, she answered all of my questions and left me feeling like I was in good hands.
Customer service seems to be in short supply these days - a list art - but Ashly renewed my hope that it is not completely extinct. If you’re in the Katy area and are in need of storage, I would wholeheartedly recommend this Public Storage location, and that is largely due to Ashly’s wonderful attitude and assistance. I sincerely wish there were more folks like her.
The website shows that access is 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., same as whenever I signed up, but yet it is 730pm and I cannot get into the gate, yet. I contact there after our support and let them know the issue, she said well they close at 6:00 and I said but on the website it says nine, are you saying that's not correct? Correct? She said well it depends what website? I said your website if this is a corporate call center, and then she said well then yes it is wrong. And I asked for her name, which was Patricia, I asked if she had a ID which I could give to corporate. When I called tomorrow, she said no but this call is being recorded, I said yes it is. I am recording it as well. She then responded with well. If you are recording the call then I need to hang up because I don't give consent, so record me but I can't record you from my safety? This place is extremely shady think I'm going to go back to U-Haul. Glad this happened right before I had to renew
Price was cheap, but the storage unit after one month of storage showed severe evidence of pest infestation. This was evident with the fecal droppings covering the tops of my boxes, appliances, and furniture. I’m lucky I had wrapped most of my furniture in plastic, but the odor will linger for a couple days after removal from the unit. Overall subpar, would have considered other options if the pests were pointed out from the beginning.

We have many units with them and Amira was excellent guiding us through all the process, she was knowledgeable and kind, answered all the questions we had and made sure we got all we needed and offered excellent customer service! Location is clean. Will definitely recommend, just go and ask for Amira! Thank you.

I would never rent from public storage again I have been with for 3 years I have an ongoing claim because I received a call saying my storage and some other were broke into it . The supervisor over the claims refuses to answer the phone or emails I would never rent with these guys again .
The hours at this PS are awful. My fault I didn't realize they close so early. What kind of storage place closes at 6pm on weekdays and even earlier on weekends? Just pure laziness having such restrictive hours.

There's a PS facility across the street. Do yourself a favor and get a unit there. They have decent hours and friendly staff.
Do not rent here unless you like walking in the dark and severely limited access. The hours of operation here are 9:30am to 6:00pm; with even less access on the weekend. As a business owner these hours are unacceptable. They rationalize this by saying it's for my own safety. They provide a number for after hours access, but in reality there is no after hours access. One day I was in my unit after the 6:00 deadline. The gates were locked even to exit the facility. I tried calling the after hours number and was on hold for an hour. I was literally trapped inside the storage facility for an hour. How is that not a safety issue? A have 2 climate controlled units, which means they are indoors. The problem is, the lights in the hallway have not worked for literally almost a year. There are promises to get the lights fixed, but they are still broken. So each day I have to walk down a very dark hallway to get to my units. They had the nerve to impose a rate increase, yet have done nothing to fix the lights. How can they restrict the hours for "my safety" yet allow me to walk in the dark for almost a year. And if you try to go to the office, there is rarely a time when anyone is actually working in there. There is always a "be Back at.." sign in the window whenever I try to go to the office.

DO NOT recommend storing here due to their lackluster hours and Public Storage's poor customer service. Search around to most other facilities in the area and most allow gate access hours from 6am to 9pm. NOT THIS PLACE!!! Nooo, gate access hours are 9:30am to 6pm on weekdays and 9:30am to 5pm on the weekends. This makes getting stuff to and from the unit outside of most peoples' typical work hours nearly f'ing impossible. If you think there is any possibility of entering even one minute after those gate hours, THINK AGAIN, they do not allow any gate access outside them. Try calling the provided "after hours gate access" phone number and they'll tell you those gates are welded shut and not even the property manager has any access to get through the gate which is a BLATENT LIE because I have seen that gate opened by the manager after hours. PS - Their gate hours were once 6am to 9pm but were changed to what they are now due the theft issues on the property, so there is that too.
