Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 8401 Lansdowne Ave, Upper Darby, PA

My experience at Public Storage has been a complete nightmare! I was assigned to a storage unit by phone. Once at the site, I was unable to find my unit and with no one there to assist, I was forced to leave with my items. I then placed numerous calls to various numbers trying to reach a live person for assistance. I was finally able to speak with a someone who scheduled an appointment for me to meet with a rep the next day. Thankfully, I met with Kenyatta and when he heard of my plight, he resolved it by giving me another “easily accessible“ unit. Out of frustration, I was very close to canceling my contract but because of his commendable service, I chose not to. The “five stars” given are exclusively for Kenyatta. The online reviews obviously agree!

I rented a space with Kenyatta today and he was was great. Made everything really easy and explained everything!

I used this place for almost 2 years and I needed more space to store my items and Kenyatta made the process easy. He listened and understood my situation and even gave me some words of encouragement. Such a nice young man.

I spoke with several people the past couple months about an issue with my billing that no one seemed to want to help me with. The lady Lona that called me to get a payment date listened to what I was saying and took the time to do the research. The issue was finally resolved after months of being promised a call back but no follow through. Come to find out shes the same person that helped me awhile ago with a different issue, and she’s not even from PA. She was just helping make calls both times. Thank you Lona

I would have given more stars but I couldn't given the fiasco i experienced after making an online reservation. Long story.... I set a reservation online for April 22nd 4pm for a 10×15 unit. The online offer was $1 for the 1st month, with a $29 application fee. And of course additional cost to purchase a lock /key. No problem. I utilized the online customer service chat several times prior to my appointment to ask questions about the units pricing, terms and conditions. I also spoke to 3 people April 21st to confirm that I would be there on time for my rsvp. Although i initially missed the employees phone call, I called back immediately to confirm and spoke with 3 different people ending with Kenyatta who works at the location. When I arrived on time for my reservation I spoke with Kenyatta, who remembered speaking with me to confirm my appointment. HOWEVER, he tells me that he doesn't have ANY 10x15 units available. I was assured a 10x15 and promo price online. Kenyatta was very polite and apologetic but unfortunately not very helpful in this situation as far as pricing is concerned given the inconvenience imposed on me. He told me he had a 10x25 available but the cost was high $400+ and that there wasn't a promotion offer despite the inconvenience of not having my reserved 10x15. He suggested another location 3 mins away in Havertown and mentioned their prices being higher. He also tried calling the employee at the Havertown office to verify there was 1 10×15 unit available. He called 3x but didnt get an answer so, we decided to drive to the location. Upon arrival the door was locked with no employee visible so I called customer service for assistance at which they did nothing to help. After about 10 mins the young lady working the office came out of the storage area with broom in hand so I understand that she was cleaning. Fine. We spoke about availability and pricing at her location after I explained what happened at the other location. She was very helpful in it that she was going to submit an online reservation for me at her location so that I can get a promo price. However her units were not clean at the moment, also the discount was not substantial in comparison to what I would have received had my original RESERVED UNIT been available as stipulationed online. She kindly reached out to a manager that allowed her to process an application for the 10×25 unit at the Lansdowne location at a much cheaper price than I was initially quoted ($400.). So I ended up at my original location with a larger unit which is both great but also disappointing when I only expected to be charged roughly $70 or so given the online promotion I was initially given of $1 for the first month, $29 app fee, $15 insurance and $22 lock/keys I instead paid $158. I should've been given the larger unit with the same promotional offer of my initial reservation because I was inconvenienced having reserved the 10x15 a week or so prior to my appointment/move-in date and was told by customer service that reserved units are held up to 30 days. Both employees were polite, Kenyatta was apologetic but didn't offer a resolution price wise. Management should note that if your employees are responsible for taking care of customers in person, answering phone calls, cleaning empty units and showing potential renters the available units, then you should consider having at least 2 people working on the premises. Despite the shenanigans, as of today i was able to officially move in to my unit with ease so i'm praying all goes well from here!

If you need somewhere in the area this would be the reason for my rating…like myself I gave 2 stars for it being probably the only I can think of close by. But other than that they have probably the highest rates. Will change your rate at will seemingly. I must have had two or three hikes in the past 6-8 months. Their buildings are rarely functional for Elevators or Bathrooms etc. I’m more pissed that in February I came in paying cash to cover all debts, fees or whatever. And come today after a month from March to April have had another lock cut. This place is really a mess.

Though this facility had a non working elevator for quite some time, and my unit was located on the second floor, dealing with the property manager, Kenyatta overshadowed this inconvenience. From our very first interaction to our last, he was the consummate professional. Knowledgeable, courteous, helpful, accommodating, and I could go on and on. Customer service at its best! The manager Mr. Kenyatta was very polite, attentive, professional and hardworking. He went beyond being a manager. With that being said, I was having a hard time moving my property into the storage unit by myself so Mr. Kenyatta walked over to the uhaul trucked and asked me if he could help move some of my things into storage. I was so grateful because , I couldn’t afford to pay anyone to help me move my belongings in at the time.

I was having difficulty with my storage elevator constantly breaking down at one point it was down 2 and a half months which meant I couldn’t get any of my things from storage .the on site worker Kenyatta was awesome throughout the whole process..He put me into a unit on the first floor,he texted and called me keeping me posted on the elevator situation as well being very helpful whenever I would come to the storage .He and the other young lady I believe her name was Cori or Tori are the BEST …they are why I’m still at public storage instead of going elsewhere.Thanks to you both

Been using this storage unit for about a month. Young lady at the counter is super friendly and helpful. Also met a young man who worked there and was locking up one day. Both nice! Bathroom is clean. No problems with other people there, all other renters have been friendly. Usually it’s just me there. CANNOT dump there. But there are plenty of sanitation centers in Philadelphia you can go to, which is what I did.

Kenyatta was there for me when moving in and also when we moving our stuff out. He went above and beyond for us on both occasions, and just had an overall pleasant attitude. Because of him I definitely will not hesitate to use Public Storage on Lansdowne Avenue the next time I need to store some stuff. Thanks Kenyatta!!! Your a good man!!!

DO NOT USE Public Storage. Especially this location. I vacated this month on the 15th, they immediately closed my account and revoked access, without prorating a discount. When I was moving in a year and a half ago the gates were obviously broken. I got locked in. The Public Storage emergency center couldn't open the gate remotely, because they were broken. The next morning when I went back for the truck that was locked in I saw them fixing the gate. Public Storage gaslite me and told me the gate was never broken and it was my fault. And the price increased by 25% while I was there. They continue to gaslight, lie and be rude

Although it would be nice to have 24/7 access it would be better if the hours were like other locations 6a to 9p. It's an inconvenience since most people work 9 to 5 and you really only have time to go on the weekends.

Our experience with this location was phenomenal!!!!! We had quite a few unique needs with our storage location and unit size. Mai helped us tremendously and went over and above to meet our needs. I highly recommend this location! We’ve had to change units 3 times (due to our personal needs) and there wasn’t one hiccup. We’re super grateful for the experience….as moving is already stressful.

THIS PLACE IS A DAMM DISGRACE I'M HERE TRYING TO GET IN MY UNIT. AND THE NOTE SAYS GO TO HAVERFORD LOCATION. THEN SHE TRIES TO LET HIM KNOW IM TRYING TO GET IN MY UNIT HE NOT COMING BACK BECAUSE HE'S ON LUNCH AND DON'T KNOW WHAT TIME HE'S RETURNING 🤬🤬🤬🤬 BUT THEY ARE QUICK TO CUT YOUR LOCK OFF IF YOUR LATE🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

The worst! Hours are not convenient for working people. Now closes at 6:00pm, 5:00 on Sundays. Rent increases without notice. Latest rent increases by about $100/month! Nothing at all like advertised. No one answers the phone in the office. Dumpster has been removed, so nowhere to out trash, you have to take it with you! No lighting, which is in the ad. Unit flooded, no clean up or recourse. Icy and dangerous in winter. I talked to the general manager about rent inreases causing a mass Exodus, his response was oh well, other people will move in".
