Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 4920 Van Dam St, Long Island City, NY

Employees are great and helpful but the site itself is not great. I had some concerns with the elevator and the addresses it immediately.

Sam is the shit!! They were beyond helpful and very kind :) Definitely recommend this place!

I recently came to this location for quick look to get an overview of the storage prices and how it works bc I’m new to buying storage space haha. The workers there helped me a lot for advice on how it works to buy a storage. The customer service is wonderful here!! I wanted a reasonable price, Joey was able to help me understand the payments and break it down for me. I appreciate the help from the other workers (Sam and Kaylyn) too!!

One of the best experiences I’ve had. Staff was genuine, friendly, and helpful. Made move-in and move-out (were accommodative to the movers) experiences seamless. Unit was clean and accessible. If you’re thinking of storing something in LIC, this place is an absolute no brainer.

The place is too damn expensive, I just got a notification of a new increase of $100 for next month, from $369 to $469, right now there are a lot of places like this with better prices, it is time to move out

Sam's customer service was top-notch! She seriously went above and beyond to hook us up with the perfect unit. she was so attentive and really took the time to understand what we were after. It was like chatting with a friend who genuinely cared about helping us out. If you ever need assistance, Sam's your go-to person, no doubt about it!

I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for storage needs. The business model seems to be offering low rates for the first few months and then increasing your price rapidly once you are a customer. My price tripled in under a year

Had a unit on the ground floor. The staff was great (Carmen ,Sam). Answered all my questions and helped me set up.very thorough.. Upon move out date I cleared the unit and checkout was a breeze . I would definitely store with them again when the situation arises. It was actually temp controlled .. some places advertise that but the actual spot is freezing cold…if you need a place to store- go here . They’ll take care of you. There aren’t any power outlets anywhere so keep that in mind

We rented a storage room at 4920 Van Dam St - Long Island City where we were assisted by Carmen. She is a gem 💎!!! Super helpful, she explained us everything and showed us the space with a big smile on her face. There are other additional charges beside the rent itself, like registration fee, lock and insurance but it is the same everywhere I guess. THANK YOU VERY MUCH CARMEN, FOR ALL YOUR HELP! 😀

Carmen and Sam made the experience of renting a storage unit at this facility a breeze! I highly recommend this location, where everything is easy to navigate and Carmen’s and Sam’s professional assistance made the experience ever so seamless and flawless. I booked online and was surprised to learn that the unit I reserved was on an upper locker and only accessible via a rolling staircase. Unfortunately with the items I was storing the unit was unusable. When I approached Carmen and Sam they quickly assisted me providing me with alternative units that better suited my needs. Carmen and Sam worked diligently to ensure I was able to transfer my reservation to a new unit and keep my online booked rate. The ability to keep the same rate was greatly appreciated and both Carmen and Sam went above and beyond my expectations in assisting me. 10/10 stars for these superstars! Thank you Carmen & Sam!!

I went to this location looking to see my reserved storage but I didn’t realize that I reserved an overhead storage space. The woman in the front helped me find another unit that was bigger and I was able to keep the same monthly price. Thank you so much Carmen! I definitely recommend coming here. Carmen really tried her best to help me as much as she could and I really appreciate it.

Bad storage

I had a good experience on move-in day but the stress Public Storage has caused me since then makes me wish I'd gone with another place. On the day/week I moved in I was told, and confirmed several times, that rent for the first month was on promotion for $1. Since then I have been overcharged for the full regular rent, plus unfounded late fees. My repeated attempts to fix the issue over phone and the app have gone unanswered (despite the app promising a response within 12 hrs). I managed to get Phil on the phone last week and he told me I had been misinformed (?), that he has no power to change the charges but the district manager would be in touch. I’ve gotten radio silence since then. Meanwhile I continue to be threatened via the app and text message with more late fees, that my unit is going to be auctioned off, and that they’ve locked me out of the space. I trusted what the staff person told me - in person and on the phone the week I moved in - about the rental cost and payment schedule. Now I’ve left the country and have to deal with this incredible stress while trying to adjust to life and work in a foreign country. Please if anyone from Public Storage reads this, answer my calls and messages. Email is best given the 11-hour time difference where I am.

It's an old solid building. Its been up graded. The rent goes up every couple of years, can be expensive it you are there a long time.

I went to the 4920 van dam street location in Queens and I had the most pleasant customer service with an employee named Phill, he answered all my concerns and questions about storage with a positive attitude even when I ask the same questions over and over.

Convenient location but limited parking and access hours.

solve the problem with elevators, this is not realistic, it took 49 minutes to unload 100 m2. Why call the operator on the floor every time to go down to the lobby. Did the job for 7 minutes in almost an hour.
