This Downtown Brooklyn Public Storage is centrally located near Flatbush Avenue and the Brooklyn Queens Expressway.
More than 1,000 indoor storage units, ranging in size from 5x5 foot to10x30 foot, make up this location that is just East of the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood.
Looking for a unit that will hold the family bikes, cooler, picnic basket and umbrella for Saturdays at nearby Cadman Plaza Park or Trinity Park? 5 stars because Viola was so helpful. The space I booked was not the size advertised (it was much smaller) so I had to book a new space and cancel the one I had already paid for. It was a huge hassle but Viola was patient and got it all sorted out for me.
If it weren’t for Viola I would give 2 stars because the dimensions of the spaces are consistently not what the website says they are. I ended up looking at two different “5x10” spaces, one of which was probably 4x9 and the other probably 5x8.
Christina, Viola and Nate were so helpful and nice while helping me with my storage. Their attention to detail and kindness is unmatched.

Viola, Christina and Nate were all incredibly helpful! I went in today for the first time to get a unit and could not have asked for a more positive experience. They went above and beyond and I sincerely hope whoever manages this location (and handles raises) realizes what fantastic employees they have.
Hensy was very helpful and everything was quick. He explained everything well and showed the storages and spoke the details of the space and size of the storage and assisted with helping getting the dolleys that they have avaliable for those who use the storage. I had multiple externally negative experiences with this facility . The only elevator on my floor was broke on the day I tried to move units, . Female staff are rude beyond even what considered socially acceptable in ‘bad’ parts of NYC. The “ manager” lied to me saying we left items behind ( we did not and documented) The overall atmosphere in the office these women run belongs to a female prison facility rather than a client facing service business. Prices are higher now than in better run storage facilities in the area of even in Manhattan. Don’t rent here

Not only do they put FULL effort into providing the best customer service, but they are also very attentive, and will help you out with ANY problem or issue that you are experiencing. When I first came to this Public storage, I had a lot of difficulties following all of the rules and making sure that I do everything correctly to access the storage. They were all so helpful and instead of spending half an hour trying to figure it out by myself, I only spent less than 5 minutes because of their help. Again, I cannot stress enough how prodigious these three are, and my honest review is 100+ stars. My boyfriend and I visited this location about a month ago as we were thinking about sharing a storage unit once he moved into the neighborhood. We met Ms. Christina who graciously toured us around the facility, showed us a variety of options, and answered all of our questions with ease. She didn’t pressure us into renting a unit that day, but was realistic with our expectations on availability if and when we decided to book. Quick version: amazing customer service and a thoughtful approach to helping me secure the storage unit I needed.
Long version: I reserved a storage unit online and upon learning that it was actually a locker, I fully expected to have to go elsewhere to get what I needed for the price.
Viola was great and showed me alternate units for measuring purposes and Ashley exhausted their inventory to identify two “walk-in” units that could work (with one being the perfect fit). The process to secure the unit was as seamless as the viewing.
Being in sales myself, I was impressed by the entire staff’s demeanor and willingness to help in any way needed (special shout out to Nate and Christina). It was a pleasant and professional experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!

Dear Public Storage Management,
I am writing to express my concerns about how the handling of our account at the Gold Street location was managed, particularly relating to an incident during our recent downsizing efforts. We communicated our need to move to a smaller unit due to another rate increase, aiming to manage our expenses more effectively.
Unfortunately, due to a miscommunication combined with a holiday just before our scheduled exit, we were one day late vacating our previous unit. As a result, we were billed over $400 for the now-empty larger unit for the entire month, in addition to the $200+ for the smaller unit to which we had downsized. This has led to an unexpected and substantial charge of nearly $700.
While I recognize the importance of adhering to protocols, I believe that under these circumstances, a degree of leniency in the application of these rules could have been considered. Given the economic climate, a more flexible, understanding approach would have been greatly appreciated and reflective of the care and commitment Public Storage should uphold towards its customers.
This matter was handled poorly and almost robotically.
In regards to their staff; I do think they try their best, but after being a customer for several years, I don't appreciate what I've experienced here.

I've used a number of storages and find Public to money hungry. The staff are fine its the policies. Example they increase your monthly fee every 3 months. We tranfering to another smaller unit they don't pro rate you they charge you the full monthly fee for the old unit plus the full price for the new unit. I would not recommend Public. AAAA is a better alternative for pricing especially if you're planning for an extended storage period.

This public storage building is the scourge of the neighborhood. They have alarms that sound off randomly at all hours of the day /night for no reason.

This location recently painted their roof bright orange next to residential high rises. Now all I see out our skyline view is a huge ugly orange eyesore. Won’t be using public storage in the future. Please repaint back to a more neutral color. No one can see it from the street anyway.
Great location if you live in Downtown Brooklyn or nearby. Reasonably priced, clean and secure. Parking is very difficult until they free-up a bay now used for contractors.

This is the WORST consumer service I have experienced in my entire life!!! They are amazing and really helpful, until you sign the contract. I sign the contract, to a 5x7 space at 3440 S Carrollton Ave, New Orleans and now, that I need to anticipate my move in date, nobody help me! Actually nobody even pick up my call!! I left many messages and they never call me back!!!
After 20 minutes waiting a costumer service just picked my call and, guess what?? she was not able to help me right now. So I just canceled my contract.

Overall the space is nice, but renters beware that you may be given a top unit (and not disclosed in the website), which can be quite a pain.

It was my first time using this kind of service to store my things and a representative working there by the name of Karl provided utmost best customer service. He explain every detail such as pricing, the processes, and just made sure my questions and needs were met. I was able to move in same day, and while doing so Karl and the staff was very welcoming and provided assistance when I needed.

On my very first visit, I was greeted warmly by Cheare, and she was very patient and friendly while showing me multiple units that fit the size I was looking for. The rest of the staff have also been nice and pleasant to deal with. I've used several storage facilities over the course of many years and this staff has the best customer service thus far. It makes a big difference in the overall experience!

Ashley went above and beyond when i was clearing out my space. As i was about to leave somehow my car battery completely died and she kept the place open long enough for me to go to AutoZone and get a jump starter.
Used this storage facility for almost 2 years. Clean, safe, climate controlled, and convenient! Staff is always helpful, especially Ashley at the front desk. She was so friendly. Definitely recommend 10/10
