About Sewell

Sewell is a small community in New Jersey's Mantua Township, part of Gloucester County. The area is well-known as a major paleontology hub, both historically and in the present-day. It's also home to the world's last operational greensand mine, the Inversand marl pit.

In the early history of the country, the area was inhabited by Lenni-Lenape Native Americans. Early settlers arrived in the area in the late 1700s and established homesteads, Heritage's Dairy Stores and more.
