I miss the Lakeside Storage off 55. Before it was Public Storage, it was always clean and well kept. Today they are losing a yearly customer.
I run a Christmas lighting company, storing our seasonal inventory at the aforementioned Public Storage. We’ve seen this establishment degrade over time with broken doors and non-functioning elevators.
The tipping point: last night we pulled all our inventory to begin setting up for the year, cleaned out our unit, and left. This morning we are accused of leaving a mattress near a dumpster where there are no cameras and no proof of us doing so. The only deduction made by Public storage was that we are the only ones to move out and therefore we put the mattress there. Sherlock, put in some effort before pointing fingers.

This place is simply outstanding! The effort that went into keeping this place secure is well worth it. You can download an app to access the gates and doors. Or use the pin that comes in text. I applied for a unit online payed online. The process is simple. The manager kathrine was a joy to work with. Knowledgeable, understanding and helped me resolve my issues. Also, they put the stickers on the locks for security. They know that it’s your lock and you can ask the manager specifically, but do not pull the stickers off. It actually makes sense why they put the stickers on your locks. The cleanliness of the building and attention to detail is noticed good management and team. I love the place first time there and it was a great experience A+.

Booked on line last week for a move from out of state next month. In town for a quick visit this weekend and stopped by to visit facility. Very clean and Katherine ( and other gentleman on duty) were nice, polite, and helpful. Well I did rate this 5 stars bc of the place and the person that rented the unit. Now I'm editing bc as of Feb 1st I was out of my unit called up to the manager the following day to make sure we were settled and to let her know if she needed to go check I left everything clean and took my lock I purchased. Well now it's May and I receive a collections bill in the mail for one months rent. Like I said everything else was great before this, but when you actually take the time to call to make sure they know you're out to go check the unit you would think now we are settled money and all, bc I never made a payment late. There's locked gates where ur code I would imagine would stop working bc at 9:01 when they'd close at 9pm it was locked from letting myself in with my code, so I do believe it would stop a day late. I dont understand why I have a collections bill without one phone call text or email when I have all the same information and I have never once been contacted about having a leftover bill since I called the next day to make sure that it was taken care of and the manager said yes. With it being a manager I never assumed I needed to follow up again. Why was there no contacting me? I called after receiving this and the manager said oh that was where I refunded you money. I said well I wasn't owed money but ok. She said not refunded but credited your account and it wouldn't. I asked why she wouldn't let me know that before sending it to collections and she said I would have to call her GM Jeff, did that, left a message and no response so most def bad business practice to me and still no resolution.

Had an appointment to meet and sign up to rent a unit and sat and waited for more than an hour and attempted to get somebody on the phone. Finally was guided to complete process online and was sent entrance code information via text message. Once process was started it was all fairly straightforward. I want to clarify that my aunt is the one who actually rented the unit, I was accompanying her to assist unloading boxes. The location popped up on my google reviews and I wanted to review our experience. The location is extremely clean and appears to be safe and top notch secure. The miscommunication with whomever my aunt originally spoke with is the only issue we had. Overall, I would recommend this place to friends and family without a doubt.

This place was formerly Lakeside storage and was a much better place, staff was much more friendlier too. Wish they had never got bought out. Public Storage has gone up on rent several times in a year. I was in the process of cleaning out my unit anyway (clothes I had been storing for mom) and I left at 9:15pm Saturday night. 8:30am Sunday morning I get an intimidating email telling me that they noticed I left the facility after hours and after hour exits were not allowed. What a freaking joke. At Lakeside you never had to enter a code to exit. BTW:Manager, if your reading this, "opportunity" is spelled wrong in that automated message. They also keep putting their stickers on my lock even though that was my personal lock. I've scrapped it off several times just to find it replaced again. It doesn't have a barcode or any other identifying markings on it so I never understood it's purpose. It was my lock and not their property. At Ample storage on Lake Wheeler Rd where I have some more stuff at you have access up until 10pm and can leave whenever you like. I'm also curious if that exit gate opens automatically if the fire alarm system goes into alarm. Would be a big lawsuit for them if the place catches fire and someone gets hurt because they are having an anxiety attack and can't enter their code to exit. If you don't want to deal with rate hikes plus them keeping track of your every move I'd suggest finding somewhere else.

Horrible horrible horrible!!!!! Would NOT RECOMMEND!!! When I first paid for the unit it was in my name. Few months later, it was all of a sudden in my boyfriends name. No one could tell me how that happened. Then they started charging me insurance which I NEVER agreed to. I called and spoke with Teresa, she said after someone doesn’t sign up for it after the first month PS automatically adds it on to your bill, with NO warning. That should be ILLEGAL!!! My payment was supposed to be $128 a month, it hasn’t been that since I’ve been there. When I tried to call and complain I was given the wrong number by Teresa. She is the most RUDEST customer service person I’ve had to deal with.
NO STARS, this place sucks!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Trust me you’ll be glad you did.

Update: Public Storage bought this storage facility and instead of giving what I would term myself to be a "NEW customer" the current special move in rate of $1 a month storage price nope the customer service lady told me I was an "EXISTING" customer because I was converted when they bought the facility.
I NEVER signed the Public Storage lease and moved my stuff to a CHEAPER AND LARGER storage unit at Piney Grove Storage right before you get to Fuquay-Varina near church on the corner of Rawls Church Road.
Found this place when I won a gift card off of their Facebook contest on their Facebook page. I needed a storage unit and they had a great move in rate. Nice folks friendly and helpful. Only thing I’d like better would be if I could have access longer than just 9pm. It’d be good if I could have access up until midnight.

Excellent service. Buildings always clean, temperature good in all seasons, staff helpful. I appreciated the lighting system - conserving energy for lights that are motion activated. The platform carts were invaluable. I recommend them highly. I've used other storage places before, but will always use Public Storage in the future.

I have had a unit here for over a year and just recently have updated with another unit in order to reorganize and de clutter. This facility is always clean and everything is always n working order. The staff is very helpful and always friendly! The layout is great and they have a great variety of sizes and layouts to choose from so even the smaller units can be easy to access. I’m very happy with my experiences with Lakeside Storage!
