Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 5500 State Avenue, Kansas City, KS

Marcia was so good. Very friendly patient and polite.

First after my husband passed I put the things I was sure the moving company would not take to Delaware from Kansas because I was over my amount so with me having a couple friends in Kansas still selling my items and me keeping my doctors there as well I would come there at least 3 times a year. So it started with a 5x5 but I needed another 5x5 well moving company did the old bait and switch demanding thousands over our quoted price and my losing 1,500 to them I had to open a larger storage to get the things in it.Automatic payments and they charge for keys and locks then they raised my prices on all three storages. It’s just crazy how they do things even to loyal customers. They would have made a lot more from me had the prices stayed the same since I was expecting close to a year for my items to remain there. Yesterday a couple friends emptied out one smalll one and was able after selling a few items to get it all into the larger storage so that will save me some until I get there in May to close it out altogether. Amanda is nice but to raise the prices like they have and I had to buy a lock for each unit, the cylinder locks when I’m used to being able to put my own lock and then they charged deposit and insurance on each unit. It’s just way to costly and i could see if they were more modern, nice and clean and all climate controlled ones but paying that much for such a poor looking units with rickety doors no I’ve got to shut all mine down and if I need a storage I will move to another location and different company

Terrible. They gave me a gate code that doesn’t work. My payment is auto drafted so that isn’t the problem…If you call customer service and try to follow the prompts, it doesn’t connect you to talk to anyone. So basically I paid for my stuff to be locked away where I have no access to it

Iv never understand why all of the public storages are so small and tight? Man!!!!like sometimes you don’t have to move whole houses in some of those little boxes and like there’s not going to be foot traffic and people coming in and out the one thing I can say is that you could easily access it because the gates they were supposed to be slid and locked where wide open im shore More than likely, they were broken and needed to be fixed, but I’m sure it did not give a feeling of security. If I had any items that was valuable, they could have easily been plucked from me in the getaway driver could’ve squeeze through some of those people, and got away with it but of course it didn’t happen, and I wasn’t worried about that anyway.but it coyld have

UPDATED: MICE, MICE, MICE!!! IF YOU WANT YOUR THINGS RUINED, AND WANT TO DEAL WITH DECEPTIVE PRACTICES AS WELL AS PAY WAY TOO MUCH then you found the right place. I made arrangements to move to a smaller unit, I made the appointment OVER a week ago. Less then 24 hours BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT I am told if I dont move out by midnight tonight i am going to be charged another month PLUS the new unit!!! Why was I NOT TOLD THIS BY THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT MADE THE APPOINTMENT FOR ME?? I AM 56 & DISABLED, HOW DO THEY THINK THIS IS O.K? RUN, DONT WALK AWAY FROM HERE...RUN! I am not going to EVER rent from a public storage, EVER AGAIN.

They were a better company when they were simply storage

I paid 87 dollars a month for a mouse infested 5 x 10. the gate has been broken for months and the drive from the front to the back was filled with the nastiest potholes. half of my stuff was ruined upon move out, including all of my winter clothes that had holes in them and were unraveling from the mice. go anywhere else where you can have a temp controlled unit for half the price.

This place is a scam. The gate was rammed, and cars and units broken into. Do not rent from this place. Was better when it was Simply Self Storage. A lot of people are moving things out as well. Just giving the heads up.

I had to move all the items by myself and he checked on me frequently to make sure that I was all right.
