I am a Social Analyst & Writer. As such, I scrutinize and dissect people's behavior and how what they do ~or do not do~ affect other people's lives.
With my arms up in the air, I run away from five [5] storage facilities in Honolulu for one primary reason: low human qualities of management personnel characterized by being totalitarian, disrespectful, and abusive. They know that tenants have no recourse to fight them back.
Public Storage is the sixth storage facility that I moved in Honolulu. As I met Manager Ms. Paris, I could tell that she is not another Manager Woman. No, she is not. My experience and observations allowed me to confirm that Manager Ms. Paris is a LADY who was raised by fine parents.
In addition, she invested her knowledge and efforts necessary for me to fully comprehend what my options are and what I am getting into BEFORE I sign anything.
I hereby attest that this Public Storage is a facility for decent tenants that do not want antagonistic actions and arrows flying against them.
Awesome. I just moved to lower my rent but the Manager at my location was amazing in helping me find a better fit for my budget and made sure there was no pillars etc!! Mahalo I bought malasadas that’s how happy I was. Donna is a rockstar Give that Aunty a Raise!!!

I've been a customer for a few years and every now and then I need to move storage units. Last week when I was moving storage units I discovered I booked at the wrong location and I was distraught trying to find the perfect unit at this location. Donna was my hero and helped me secure an amazing 1st floor unit that was the size I wanted but also helped me cancel my accidental reservation at a different location. Donna is simply the best and helped me out of two pinches.

Is the best public storage facility I have ever been to. The staff does everything they can to help customers too the best of their ability above and beyond on service and problem solving giving customer’s solution and going to all Ends in what they can do to help people in the simplest and fastest way possible. I have never met any other place that seeks to solve problems and help costumers as much as them. I have used this facility for 3 years on and off again for college and I have tried and looked into others but none reach even half the stander or make costumers feel as welcome as this one.

Need Storage!!! Call Public Storage on Waialae and see Donna. She took us to look at the different sizes and help us with the rental agreement. You can also borrow their carts to load up all your boxes to take to the unit it was a life saver.

I've stored my belongings short term with this Public Storage location twice and both times I have been extremely satisfied with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff including Donna, who efficiently set us up with a unit. They have push cart dollys available for moving in and out our bulkier/ heavier items. I highly recommend this location if you are ever in need of some extra storage space.

I came yesterday to set up a storage unit to use for work. I was able to do the majority of the steps online, which was incredibly convenient. Once I got there I was a little lost (it’s huge!) but lucky for me Pono and Donna were there to help! Pono showed me to my unit and helped me get it set up, Donna showed me how to borrow a dolly to transport my heavy things. Both greeted me with such aloha, they took the experience from good to great. Thank you Pono and Donna!

I got there about 15min before opening. I ran into 2 staff on their way in and even before they were on the clock, both of them were professional and very nice. M wound up taking me on a tour and getting me an appropriately sized locker for my needs and within my budget. He was very helpful, and was cool under pressure when the computer system was giving them a bit of trouble.
Iʻve been a customer for 2+ years now and the location canʻt be beat. The customer service by Donna and the other employees Iʻve had interactions with have been nothing but stellar. Welcoming environment. So far a safe space to store your personal belongings (I’ve seen security camera in the premises).
Some few things I think worth sharing or suggesting:
- Only if they stated at the beginning that they’ll not check any documents if we have insurance or not…or only if the business owners/corporate won’t force people to avail any insurance.
- The storage on this location ain’t cheap so I suggest to go online and grab your storage there for a certain discount.
- I am hoping they’ll put more carts coz tbh, 4 aren’t just enough.
- Been reading other reviews and heard some feedback from my other friends that this location just raised their prices so often and I hope that the corporate will stop milking their patrons too much though.
Other than that, I am truly satisfied on the services they offered and is currently looking forward to do business with them for more time. But really, the front people working on this location is just amazing. The bosses are so blessed to have ‘em. Please do take good care of them.

I had a great experience at the Waialae location. Donna provided excellent customer service with helping me transfer to another unit at almost half the cost that I was already paying. Great staff and services. The facility is clean and temperature-controlled. Outdoor, ample and spacious parking. Met many staffs over the years, which is nice because I like to feel welcomed and to know they recognize their tenants.
Denna showed me how convenient it is to access the elevator using the app today. Introductory pricing was great, it has gone up over the years, which is synonymous to all things inflated. Looks like I’ll be a happy long-term resident 😄

The staff there is only civil when they are trying to sell you a unit.. once you are in, good luck trying to ask anything of them without them giving you attitude. Their manager at that location needs to be replaced.
Be careful of the manager named Leina. She will take your ID card in exchange for a cart then refuse to give it back while she takes a 2 hour lunch without anyone else there. She will walk by you and refuse to even talk to you and only rudely yell "I'm on lunch!". You are to wait on them in order to get your ID card back to go home. Stay away from this storage unit at all cost.

I had the most wonderful experience at this public storage. The ladies there were always so helpful and encouraging and made the in and out process easy as can be. Will miss seeing their faces and hearing their stories now that I no longer need a unit.

Leinala and Donna are the BOMB! Transferred from PC public storage where I had a really bad experience as I brought up my concern about AC within the building (it was super warm and within 24 hours my stuff was covered in black dust) and they did nothing about it to address it. Moved to Waialae location and leinala and Donna made things so easy AND it’s nice and cool and clean in the building. Recommend moving here if you like your stuff clean and for sure temperature monitored.

Hi I don't have a storage unit with these guys but my wife do and I had to make a payment and what I know to my knowledge my wifes unit were up to date comes to find out there was a miscommunication about her account therefore I got a little angry and I know I wasn't being nice I was kinda rude then I caught myself meanwhile one of there workers her name is Donna she was the one assisting
me about my wife's account..All I can say that Donna was really I mean really nice through out all that time helping me find out about my wife's account she spoke to me in a nice matter bottom line she's a great person thanks Domna
After several years of my father and I being customers of this Public Storage location, the spring to the roll up door of my assigned storage unit unexpectedly busted due to wear and tear. With great help from Michelle and Ikaika, they were able to get the jammed roll up door to close and put in a work order to get it repaired.
Michelle along with the District Manager were able to accommodate me by relocating my unit temporarily into a pair of storage units equal in size (as one with the same dimensions as mine were not available) for the same price I am renting at. My father and I originally emphasized that we would ideally like to come back to the same unit once it was fixed.
Moving out of my original unit into the two temporary units was at first super stressful, as I was trying to think about how I was going to fit all my things into two units with a wall in between, how long I had versus how long I needed to make the move, and the fact that my availability to do all this moving was constrained because I work multiple jobs. But Michelle, Hau, and one other lady made were really nice to reach out to ask how things were going during the move. It was really nice of the Public Storage crew to put a lot of care into making sure I had sufficient space to put my items into while the work order was put in. In fact, I got really stressed out on what was supposed to be the last day moving out of the original unit with my hectic work schedule, but they were so understanding that they gave me least the next morning to finish up the rest of moving out.
A few days later, Donna called my dad to tell him that she had two different units available that were the same size of the original because it would be a while until the original one could be repaired. However, these units still were conveniently located.
We were able to select an alternative unit with the same dimensions with same or better access from the elevator, and move-in ready. And within less than two weeks, we were finally settled in.
Mahalo to everyone working at this Pubic Storage for being so caring and hardworking to ensure your customers are well taken care of!

Just began renting here and was able to have an in person meeting to view the space before finalizing the rental. Donna was very knowledgeable and super friendly. She showed us how to get access to the elevators, walked us to our space, and explained everything thoroughly. My mom and her even got to talk story about Kapahulu since they both grew up in this area of town.

I have had several instances where I needed to use Public Storage and I must say, it’s a great space with happy & helpful employees. I did have a small issue with understanding the elevator mechanism so I would recommend downloading the app which makes things so much easier. Now I walk into the building refreshed by the building’s AC and the elevators doors pretty much open up for me. Great!!

I never thought I’d be wow-ed by a customer service representative at a storage facility but here we are. Donna is amazing, and makes me wish I still needed the storage unit. She was fabulous each time I came in over the 6 weeks and I even heard her refer to a customer by first name (and I was the first customer of the day, so it’s not like they’d been in already that day). Units are clean, reasonably priced, and easy to access. Overall I would recommend this specific location to anyone in town.

I made a hold on a unit online to take a look at it; which is free. The very next day had a call from Donna, checking if I had any questions. When I arrived she had everything ready to check the unit and gave me all the information I needed. As a first-time renter and so much going on I wanted a place that would feel safe if I had to go on my own but also feel welcome/comfortable with the staffs. I had one more place to visit before making my final decision. Finalizing it online was such an easy process. When I got there Rose assisted me, walked me through the use of the app to enter the elevator and the use of the cart that’s available if you need. I work with customers everyday and these two ladies were absolutely AMAZING!

We left some inherited furniture here and after a year, everything of value and significance was stolen. They left our old golf clubs and my pier 1 furniture :( This is happening to most storage facilities it seems.
If you have no other choice, check on your items frequently (do not trust it will be there when you return), take lots of photos before/during/after (since you will have to file a report or show documented proof of your items), and cross your fingers.

The parking is plentiful and safe, the location is right near the freeway and easy to access from either direction, and I’ve never had to wait to use any of the facility features (e.g. handcart, restroom, elevator, etc.). Experience with customer service over 10 years at this location for various family members and friends has been great. Staff has been friendly, helpful, and professional in person and over the phone. Would like to mention in particular Leina, Rose, and Miss Donna, as well as personable phone help by others filling in. Building has been clean and usually comfortable with climate control - though a bit warm early in the morning. Staff has been very accommodating and I have overheard them consistently communicate with others in the office and over the phone with friendliness, helpfulness, patience, and professionalism. I have recommended this location to friends. Only downside is how often the rates are increased and the amount of each increase but that is not under the control of the local staff and does not detract from my positive experience with them. I will write a separate review regarding corporate's actions.

Climate controlled, friendly staff that keep the place in order, newly renovated, and intro deals make this place a go to storage location. Prices will certainly increase over time. Make sure to bring your own lock when u plan on moving in so you can safe those extra couple dollars.
This was my first time shopping around for storage spaces. I was a little confused by the website, but Leina and Donna were so nice to show me around the area. Leina is super helpful! She assisted my fiance's mother and I with our unit set up. The building is clean, well-lit, and professionally maintained. There is some construction currently but Leina and the other employees are very considerate and try to accommodate access as best as possible.
Donna was the most attentive and helpful person I spoke with. I head running short on time and she walked me through every step of the process to ensure my unit was payed for and even helped my judge the size I need for my belongings. If you call this property ask for Donna. She’s amazing.
This location is well maintained, staff was super friendly & answered all my concerned questions I had from area space to prices. Also I must say restrooms was clean.
Dora was at Waialae Ave today and she is the BEST!! Super duper helpful. She gave me the best options that benefited me the best. I hope that if I’m ever in need of help again here at Public Storage, that Dora will be there with her awesome customer service again.
