I've been at Public Storage ( actually was a diferent company that was bought out by public storage) for over 10 years. Always have had auto payment. Now they are still doing autopayment and my credit card shows that , but they send me text messages telling me I'm late in payment. Beware, there is no way to contact them via text or email. Nothing on their website other than a auto-bot chat session which is worthless. Also don't pick up the phone so no communications at all. .
Public Storage makes bad decisions that affect their customers. They closed the facility with only a few hours notice due to the hurricane arriving in 3 days
The next day, the weather was calm, no rain and no wind.
There were at least a dozen customers that showed up to remove their vehicles so they would not sustain damage
The manage was in the parking lot, was very rude, would not open the gate and then left.
All stores were open, all gas stations were open, nothing had closed except Public Storage
What kind of person would do that.
What kind of company would do that
They are affecting the lives of many people and possible damages to their vehicles from the on coming flood and did not care.

People are pigs. The tenant next to me had a hidden garbage can full over left over fast food. You could not see it from the parking lot.
The Rats and Cockroaches got into the food. It was disgusting.
I complained, management was not aware, came right out to see and called the tenant immediately, he did not respond.
Public Storage employee, Taylor took it upon herself to clean up the horrible mess.
Taylor went above and beyond the call of duty to rectify the issue, clean the property, and make me a very, very appreciative tenant.

Can’t complain, the parking lot is gated and the app to open the gate works well. The price is good in comparison to other storage facilities and booking it was super easy online.

Staff is okay. Customer rest rooms lack basics like hand soap or sanitizer and towels of any kind. The two water fountains for customer use are inoperative and of no use to get a drink on a hot day.

Edit again, I wish I could rate 0*. Just got a call saying I can’t have more than one vehicle per parking spot even if the spot is 40ft long and both vehicle together are 33ft. After jacking their price 70% for that spot now they want me to get a second one. BTW, they have well over 50% vacancy on this “parking spot” and my guess they are trying to get to 100% vacancy. District manager probably failed maths

Edit: My original review was 5* and it was for SimplySelf Storage. Public Storage literally ruined this place by making it way too expensive for their location. They think by painting everything Orange (was blue before) is enough to justify 40% rate increase
I came in the office on a stormy afternoon rain was everywhere. After walking in and drying off my feet Ms.Taylor and Ms. Victoria greeted me with compassion and understanding for my urgent need of a storage these ladies looked at for me in the most way. And helped me find the perfect storage for my immediate needs. I’m so grateful for these ladies on such a gloomy day.

Great experience setting up my rental and getting me checked in.
Another commenter said that they believed the positive reviews must be fake. All I will say is, I don’t think they’re wrong. The company is “Simply Self Storage” their name on google (same address) is “Public Storage” which makes me wonder if they do this to ward off negative reviews by having people believe it’s a different company. (I’m assuming).
They have rats/rodents who chewed through some very important documents. My mother passed away when I was very young and some of the rarest Photos I have left of her were chewed through.
I filed an insurance claim for some of the other items damaged including the cost of having to move out of the storage unit and into a better place and was denied because they have a rodent clause that isn’t disclosed at time of purchase.
I would never recommend this facility.
Rent was almost due for my final month and I even asked if they would be willing to comp me that month for the damages.
The answer was no. Imagine having to pay an additional $300 for the destruction of your own property.
I took photos of the neglectful state of the storage units and will be submitting a news complaint.
I cannot be the only one.

The moment I arrived I was greeted by
Taylor. They had just opened and we're getting settled in. Taylor quickly looked up my account so we could finish what I started online. I then was able to test my keypad access to ensure it worked. Once that was complete she got me my lock and then we visited the unit to ensure I knew where it was. Along the way she described where to pull up to and how to use the elevator. After inspecting my unit we returned to the office so I could get some boxes. Once again she was very helpful and even helped carry my stuff to the car.
Some of the best customer service I have seen in a while. I just wish all businesses could be so attentive to every customer.

The staff at this location is great but the policies of this company are truly pathetic. There is absolutely no customer appreciation. I had to pay a full month’s storage ($341) for 1 day’s storage. No grace period. They’re all about the money.

Since Public Storage bought out Simply Self Storage, it’s been nothing but frustrating. There are NO STORE HOURS posted anywhere and the office is always understaffed.
I still love Taylor - she’s an employee they’d do well to keep - Great customer Service, always friendly, quick, experienced, understanding, and goes above and beyond!
BUT the company makes me want to leave - I grew up in Germany, where this type of abysmal company customer service is not unusual, but for the US, this is unheard of!
Working in Real Estate and keeping inventory in my storage unit, if I can’t access my unit and have NO WAY of getting a hold of a live person let alone any way of knowing what time the office may be open, that is just bad business.

I recently reserved a unit and Taylor reached out the very next day for me to check it out in person and help me set everything up.
I met with Brandon, who showed me the unit and handled all the paperwork. It was super easy and both Brandon and Taylor always have a smile on their face, are friendly and knowledgeable!
Just today I was in and there was a light not working, so I stopped in the office to let them know and they immediately went to fix it.

I have used the facility at 12704 S Tamiami Trail, 12704 US Hwy 41 S, Gibsonton, FL 33534 for a while now, and find it a great place for storage. I normally talk to Taylor - who is very knowledgeable, dedicated and friendly. I find the facility clean, easy to maneuver thru with a big truck, RV or trailer, and has ample, layered security.

The manager was awesome. She walked with me to an available unit and gave me suggestions on how to pack the unit to maximize my space. She literally went above and beyond to ensure I had the most space for the best price. Staff is just as knowledgeable and helpful. Also, property stays clean.

Going through the rental process with Justin was a breeze, he explained everything very well. We got a 10x20 drive up.
I also purchased a lock and he had it ready for me on my first visit inside the unit, with package already opened, which was nice.
Pricing was good and the free full month is great.
Nice location, out of the way of all the hustle, and easy to get in and out.
The Not So Good
The demo unit he showed us looked very new and clean. I assume it was one of the newer units, which was right behind the office.
The unit we were given must have been one of the originally built units, I assume. It looked to have a lot more wear, and upon my initial visit the floor was really dirty. I brought my blower on the second visit, before I put anything in, and blew all the dirt out.
There was several pieces of broken glass outside our unit, which we removed. Luckily no flat tires.
On my first visit there was a terrible smell of sewage, or a horse farm, I couldn't tell which, but it was really bad. On my second visit, a Saturday afternoon, I did not smell that smell again.

I was at home in a frenzy looking for a storage unit. I've always been against using an indoor unit because it looked to be more work just having one. We found simply storage online and were heavily considering it. We made the reservation just to hold the spot in case we couldn't find anything else. As quick as I made the reservation I immediately wanted to cancel because of it being indoors, but before I could even get my fingers to type cancel, I got a phone call from the manager Taylor about my reservation. She literally called me 45 seconds after I reserved. I knew instantly I'd made the right decision. She called and offered me to view the location prior to renting it and she was very flexible with my schedule on such last minute notice. When we arrived we were greeted by Justin who gave us a tour. I was amazed at the space, loafing dock with carts for your belongings, elevators automatic doors and wide walking space. It's so clean and neat. It even came with a heavy duty lock. And they have security. I'll never rent an outdoor storage unit again and I'll continue to do business with this company because you just don't find great customer service these days. I really appreciate you removing my anxiety during this move

I am stuck here I can find another storage facility...they raised my rate $70-80 in one month...and the gates never work. I MEAN LIKE NEVER!!!! So the highly expenisve storage of my RV (which was already broken into at this location) is never really secure.
WAY TO GO GUYS!
P.S. They never even bothered to inform us our RV was broken into, because glass wasn't broken. They had an event where every singl;e vehicle stored in a certain location into and they didn't see that ours was impacted as well. Nice!

Extremely easy and worry free experience. You can fill out your paperwork online and then go to the storage facility. The staff at Simply Self Storage are fantastic. Lina got me all set up, thoroughly explained the rules and procedures for facility use and took me on a tour of the facility as well. Linda was very personable, easy to talk to, professional and kind. This is a very nice storage facility with climate control available. Price is right. Overall, the customer service from Linda and others sealed the deal for me. Highly recommend!

All I see are recent 5 stars everywhere and that tell me that are not real reviews. I have been a customer since June 2022 and both gates have been broken since July, no security at all, even though we are paying for a safe place to store our toys. Also the sewer has been full for a few months and when we call all we get are excuses. The current management doesn't care to deliver what the people are paying for...and trust me, this place is not cheap. I am looking for other alternatives because this place is not safe for your storage needs.

Decent storage unit place. Indoor and outdoor. Prices are a little high but I guess that goes along with the security of indoor storage units. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a few people that are living in their storage units on the inside units. They're always seem to be there when I go by my unit and I don't know statistically if it's realistic that they would be there every time I go by my unit. But hey cheap rent!

I stopped into Simply Storage in Gibsonton Fl today to get a unit and I had THE BEST experience there. Mary was such a sweet person and she made my day. Let me start by stating that my family, and myself, have been renting units at this facility for almost 10 years now. I've stored, boats, jet skis, ATVs, vehicles, etc., and have had 5+ different units.
June 2021 - My SeaDoo was stolen from the premises, early in the morning, from someone who entered the facility, no tags on their vehicle, through the gate, which was left wide open (seems to be a recurring theme). They were able to cut the lock from the jet ski, and leave with it in a matter of approximately 5 minutes. I was not offered any sort of recourse for the fact that my item had been stolen in broad daylight, and come to find out later, ONE OF THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES was in on the facilitation of this theft (which whom they've since parted ways with).
Ok, so I was able to work with the HCSO and retrieve my jet ski, which was a miracle in and of itself. To my own naivety, I chose to store my stuff in here again, months later because they had parted ways with previous staff, and assured me that they were bolstering security in multiple ways.
So I stored my Seadoo, Utility trailer, and ATV in another space in the back of the lot.
6/25/2022 - I show up to grab my Seadoo and take it in for service. Upon showing up, my utility trailer & ATV are missing. Deja vu all over again. The irony of it happening almost exactly 1 year to the day is uncanny.
So, yesterday, I had to go through the familiar process of filing police reports, going through surveillance, and hoping that I will recover thousands of dollars worth of stolen goods back again.
The kicker? When this was stolen, the gates were WIDE OPEN again! Rates continuously go up, and there is nothing to show for extra security. Not so much as a free month of rent for the inconvenience - actually, no acknowledgment at all!
If you value your belongings, keep them far away from this place, and thank me later.

My experience thus far at this location has definitely been a pleasure. Brandon and Taylor made our transition easier and worked with us through the rental process while being very patient considering the process ran over after closing time. We consolidated two storage units at another location into one at this facility which will allow us to save a few dollars which is always a plus. The facility appears to be very clean and they had plenty of carts available during our move-in. Thanks to the staff at this location!

Great location. Nice storage and nice staff. Brandon was very pleasant. Recommendation to all customers, keep your locks on until the last day of the month. We had rented storage for a short time (two weeks). We had forgotten to cancel storage (totally own that). So, we went in the 7th of the month to let them know. They charged us for the entire month without a prorated refund. I had requested to place my locks back on the storage unit to finish the month I have paid for and was told I was unable to do so. So, essentially they are double dipping, fully charging you for a month of service and storage, yet unable to use it while accepting another month's rent from someone else. I believe if you are going to prorate the first month, you also prorate upon move out. Just good business and good customer service.
Again, remember to cancel the last day of the month and keep your locks on. Live and learn.
Brandon and Taylor were amazing. They were super friendly on the phone, and took me thru the facility to make sure I was comfortable and happy with the unit I chose. They have SEVERAL carts outside the doors. A lot of places I’ve been will only have two or three, and you’re out of luck most visits. I’m glad I chose simply storage!

I have been a customer for more than 10 years. Its a good boat and RV storage location. Under the current management / ownership prices have risen dramatically without any corresponding increase in facility enhancements, in fact there has been some degradation. Theft has become an increasing concern. I have had items stolen and my boat cover undone a few times. So folks are looking for stuff. Additionally security services maybe warranted, but overall a decent value when compared to quality storage around the area. If prices continue to rise I might part ways.

Gated secure storage. The gates work most of the time. The prices increased but the area is growing so it’s expected. There is air and water available but not always in working order. Bring your own water hose. The staff is always accommodating and the location is very convenient. Overall I’d recommend.
