Self Storage FAQs
Self-storage prices vary by location, unit size, features, and availability. Smaller units typically cost less than larger ones, and indoor and climate-controlled units may be priced differently than standard units. Public Storage offers month-to-month rentals, so you only pay for the time you need.
Specials vary by location and unit type, so checking current rates and promotions in your area is the best way to find the most up-to-date offers.
Start by taking inventory of what you plan to store and how often you'll need to access it. A small 5x5 unit often fits boxes or small household items, while medium sizes like 10x10 work well for multiple rooms' worth of belongings. Larger units, such as 10x20 or 10x30, are designed for bigger items or business needs.
Indoor Storage Units: Located inside a building with hallway access.
Outdoor Drive-Up Units: Ground-level units you can drive up to for quick loading and unloading.
Climate-Controlled Units: Designed to help maintain more consistent temperature and humidity levels. Availability varies by location.
Vehicle Storage: Options may include parking spaces or enclosed units for cars or small trailers.
RV or Boat Storage: Typically offered as open or covered parking spaces at select locations.
Business Storage: Units suited for storing inventory, equipment, or supplies without the cost of commercial property.

Climate-controlled storage helps maintain more consistent temperature and humidity levels inside the unit. It's commonly used for items like books, fabrics, electronics, or other belongings that can react to extreme heat, cold, or humidity. Climate-controlled storage is available at many—but not all—locations, so availability depends on the facility.
Drive-up access refers to a ground-level storage unit that you can pull your vehicle right up to. This makes loading and unloading quicker because you don't need to use hallways, elevators, or stairs. It's often chosen for storing larger items or boxes you'll want to move in and out easily.
Some storage facilities offer 24/7 access as an added feature, while others provide extended access hours. Availability varies by property, so it's best to check your location's access hours when renting a unit.
Common security features include:
• Gated access with individualized entry codes
• Bright lighting throughout the property
• Onsite staff during office hours
• Video surveillance
• Well-maintained fencing and facility grounds
• Storage unit locks available for purchase
Features can vary widely by location, so reviewing your facility's offerings is recommended.

Convenience depends on your needs, but many renters prefer:
• Drive-up units for fast loading

• 24/7 access where available
• Month-to-month rentals
• Locations near home, work, or major roads

So I keep calling and trying to get a hold of someone and I press number four to talk to the property manager. I hear him say Property whatever number and then it literally takes me right back to the beginning of the menu of options. With the old company, I would literally call and somebody would answer. I am so confused as to why For a company this is OK to not be able to get a hold of anyone?
I had to deal with the Property Mgr. Mo. He was outstanding! He should be the role model for every employee of Public Storage
Dom gave the best service I’ve received renting thank you so much. I highly recommend him and the company!!!!!!

Ebony has been extremely helpful in navigating a brand new difficult system. She was outstanding
Met Chris today very gracious young man helped me out finding my space he came back to help me after he was on his way out.
Manny was awesome, and I love the kiosk.
If there were negative stars they would get one. This facility went from being one of the best to the worst in less than 3 months with the new ownership. They no longer have any employees working on site, you cannot reach anyone by phone and they raised their fees without notification. My rate went from $50 a month to $70 a month for a 5 X 5 unit. I have heard neighbors complain about the condition of the landscaping and the trash accumulation outside of their fence.
I never post negative reviews on companies but this is an exception to the rule. The facility is 1/2 miles away from my home but I have opted to use a facility 2 miles away.
The old owners & management was fantastic which are the positive reviews you see. If you’d like to complain in person you can now talk to a kiosk.
Stay away!!
This is NOT a brand new facility. It has been taken over by Public Storage. Previosly, it was run by folks who took care of the place. the new owners run by means of some sort of kiosk.
I have been unable to get a statement from them since they, whoever they are, since they took over.
Trevor was very nice and helped my grandmother find her unit.
Awful. Raccoons got in and pooped all over our stuff. Since these guys took over from the previous local owner, there’s not even an office. There is a kiosk where you can do a live chat, and we have used it several times and left messages for the manager to call back, no one ever did. We need some sort of consideration for having to deal with a biohazard, and we are being ignored!
Unacceptable!
And PS these other reviews are obviously fake 🙄
Alex was extremly helpful. He answered all my questions and was so cheerful.

Excellent storage. Attendant is very friendly and professional.
I would like to thank Alex for showing us the options Public Storage had to offer @ the Fruitland Park location. Alex also recommended to book online to save money rather than signing up in person at the office.
