I always like to take the time to give a positive shout out to people I see doing an excellent job in their line of work. Sheila is the Mgr. at the Pacific Hwy Public storage location. Sheila has always been friendly and willing to help with any questions I have over in the past year. As impressive as her communication skills, I see Sheila always working on the property. She is keeping everything neat clean and safe. She is a wonderful property manager. Also this location is very good for business, since I-5 Hwy has an easy on/ off exit very close to the storage property.

This public storage location is great and professionally managed by a great staff! I love the two big trees in the front. They give the place a nice atmosphere. It is very clean and I am happy to have chosen this location to store some of my personal items.

My experience at 5175 Pacific Hwy San Diego Ca was great due in part to Shelia the manager. I rented the storage in 2020 but returned just a few days ago to close the unit. It was a pain staking chore of mine to do alone. Shelia was very encouraging and understanding although she was seeing me in the stress mode majority of the time. She talks like a concerned caring friend and is always willing to be available to answer your concerns if she could. You see- It’s the small things that end up being a big thing. When I felt I couldn’t complete the task I would see her and it made me feel I can do this- I can get this done. Thank you Shelia for always being there. Oh the facility was great too. *** update**** The actual staff there are great! Had I gotten ahold of them instead of the customer service line I would have left a much happier customer! The property manager was very understanding and very willing to help and empathize with my experience. Once she knew about the situation she immediately wanted to investigate to make sure the facility is secure and safe for all! They hired the correct kind of people! I’m honestly shocked people love the location in other reviews. I liked it was near fiesta island but in 3 weeks of being there I ran in to a women and an officer who had her storage broken in to, and when I was going to drop some things off like a week and half later there was a man literally exposed peeing in the middle of the drive area there. I would not recommend if you are a woman and alone cause there is no security and public storage customer service basically just told me to move out when I mentioned this. So I’m taking my money to a completely different storage company cause wow. (This is not the staff at the facility they were great from my few encounters)

Rating a storage facility 5 stars feels odd. But I can't think of anything to rate it lower. It's clean. The location is convenient for me. I got an outside unit cheaper than what I was paying for an indoor unit at Price storage further north. So this place is perfect. There is an app to open the gate. I always fat finger a number of two when forced to use the pad. My nails make hitting the star key in the corner almost impossible so I appreciate being able to avoid that. The place is clean, staff is helpful and the physical layout is well thought out. Two trucks are able to pass each other in the aisles. I hate that I'm still not living in my forever home that will have room to hide my things, but glad they are at home at public storage for now.

I went during my lunch break, and it was incredibly fast and easy. I’ve now started to move all of my stuff in and she even came over to check on me. Rude, has rats, closes early. Fix your hours, honestly 5 is way too early to close when your job is just sitting for most of it.

Easy access and really great staff. The manager, Sheila, went out of her way to help me. My car battery died and she let me use her personal jumper cables to restart my car. Great experience.

Since I am not getting anywhere over the phone or with your chat here it is. To management: I used to rent from your location on Pacific Highway. I am not the person who likes to stir things up, yet the issue I am about to bring to your attention has had me lose sleep over it. For a while I was not able to pay on time and in full for my storages, but always attempted to put something down with the hope that my belongings would be safe, AKA not be sold. I was never told a sale started while I made partial payments. When my locks were removed/cut out I was surprised by the methods as my previous experiences with almost losing my storage units were different. I didn't question the issue too much then as my storages were never officially sold. However, I would now like to know if some of my belongings were in fact sold while I did not have access to the units. ??? The reason I want answers after a whole month of terminating my business with Public Storage, is because I have finally gone through all my boxes that were stored and I am missing several items. When I regained possession of my storages, the manager accompanied me to the units. Unlocked them and swung open the door to look inside. I was appalled by this action to the point that when I was leaving the facility, I stopped by the office and inquired about her behavior. She replied "it is standard procedure to look inside the units and make sure that everything is in order". Everything? What exactly? The inside of the unit should not be of her concerns. And if there was a problem, leak, or else, shouldn't it be my responsibility to report it? When I walked in one of the units I felt something was not right. Initially, I did not realize items were missing as I would come and go from storage with things while I still had access, yet I know I stored specific things after my last trip before losing access. Furthermore, these units are the only ones I was using while homeless and some of those items had sentimental value to me. Of course I have no proof that my belongings were taken by the property people and I am not expecting my belongings back. However, I do want to bring this up because of how disappointed I am with the unprofessionalism and lack of tact of the property manager (on several occasions) as well as the attack on my sense of safety and emotional health on the part of said person. Person who should take part in protecting my property while I already have no roof over my head, and who broke that trust by taking my items with the assumption I would not regain possession of the units prior to them going up for sale. There are tons of spiders in my unit that have migrated into all my stuff. Also, they’ll evict you with no warning. They have electrical outlets in the units, but if you use them, you’ll get evicted, yet there is no sign or sticker saying you can’t use them. If you leave 1 minute after 9pm you’ll get evicted. They jack the price up 2 or 3 months after you move in. The lady thought I was loitering when I was organizing my stuff to make more room. And they’ll evict you if they think you’re loitering. Let this be your warning. Other than that it’s a decent storage facility. The app where you can simply open the gate from your phone without leaving your car is the best part that stands out about this facility.

Absolutely the worst security possible from a storage facility. The facility is secure, and does not appear to be in a high traffic area. yet the crime ate, homeless population and more makes this a STAY AWAY facility. My trailer was broken into within 24 hours of being parked, and they offered ZERO assistance, compassion or responsibility. Security cameras are all off line... UPDATE: 9/27/2023 I've received several, direct and unsolicited phone calls from Public Storage Corporate telling me my 10 year old review is no longer valid, and that my review is costing their managers their performance bonuses. I was originally receptive to their explanation as to how they have changed (at that facility) but after the numerous phone calls I'm standing firm. Their calls were about them, and they were still not concerned whatsoever about my $3000 loss at their facility, even 10 years later. So my 100% honest and factual review is now MY FAULT? Um.. no. I continue to NOT BE A FAN of Public Storage. Read and understand that Corporate.

I just experienced my second time renting from this location and it was seamless. The online rental, the arrival and load-in were completely without need for any assistance. I popped into the office to say thank you for making it so great and I believe it was Sheila who was so very gracious and kind. I could have chosen a closer location but the people and the process here make it worth a few extra miles. Highly recommend.

I've used this Pacific Hwy Public Storage location twice over the past few years and have been very pleased. Sheila and Melanie always provide good service, on the phone and in person. The prices are fair for San Diego storage, and great for a centrally located storage facility. Access hours (currently 6am-9pm) are also a plus.

I accompanied my bf to rent a storage and sheila was amazing she helped us set up everything and was amazing and very easy to understand.

Warning - DO NOT RENT HERE The entire staff is miserable and awful. They are rude, condescending and unprofessional. The woman who lives on sight must hate her life in order to be that nasty. The younger girl who answers the phone has literally hung up on me rather than help me. How they’re still employed is beyond me. They also had no forgiveness or understanding throughout the pandemic and the unemployment crisis. During my time with them they raised my rent countless times and I finally left after they raised it to nearly $300 for a unit I initially paid $140 for. Even after I had moved out, the rudeness continued when Melanie left me a scathing voicemail stating my lock was still on my unit when in fact, I had moved out and removed my lock the day before. The incompetence runs deep.

Great facilities with helpful staff at a much more reasonable price than other local storage facilities. Extra points for Melanie’s help getting us settled in a pinch.

My unit got broken into and they were no help at all. Charged me for the month even though I had to get everything out….SDPD wouldn’t show up to take report…. They wouldn’t help. Terrible area too… UPDATE: The District Manager called and explained their situation and refunded my last month. I know it is not their fault. I think I need to take my complaint over to the SDPD. But, their hands are pretty much tied too. It is frustrating when criminals seem to rule. :(

I only checked into this place as I was looking for a unit so my rating is very flexible it was quite a bit higher on the price is why I didn't choose this place .However it had a great location and an automatic gate that can be accessed threw your phone that I thought was really neat.

Wow the experience was great the lady shiela was riding round on a golf cart greeting customers with it's my lunch do you have an appointment. She was extremely pleasent about the appointment we had been texted she was waiting for our arrival . Sheila said she had so much authority over this facility that she chooses who can rent here or not ... She also pointed to my wife that it' she's 38 weeks pregnant she shouldn't need a storage and have it figured out claiming she was an expert on financial stability and pregnancy and defacing pregnant women was in the public storage agenda and intentions. She deserves multiple paid lunches as we noticed she must not have breaks cause the point of her being hungry was very alerting and abruptly brought up as she denied service and access to our paid unit because we didn't buy a lock from public storage yet . Sheila said that we have to have a special lock from the location she's at cause the other public storage locations locks are not approved shiela deserve to have a raise and be pardoned for all her offenses to paying customers

I came here today for a storage unit. 1/10/2022 at 11:20am shella or whoever it was working treated me so poorly. I showed up and she ignored me from the gate and then I finally managed to get inside , may I remind you I already paid online for my unit I just needed her to verify my ID and grant me my access code like it says online to. She didn't want to do her job . I'm 38 weeks pregnant and from woman to woman she didn't care, she was extremely mean to me and made fun of me for being pregnant and needing a storage space. She then told me I needed to have their specific lock yet online it says "don't need our lock? Don't worry we will cheerfully refund you for the lock upon arrival" so idk what that was about. She then covered her name tag and told me she owned public storage and was refusing to rent to me. I'm not kidding when I say from the moment I walked up she was angry and mean because she had to actually help someone. I NEVER complain or do this but she made me cry and made me very upset. I have now already paid and had my move in date set for today janurary 10th 2020 and now I'm unable to move into the storage unit and she wouldn't let me. This customer service has to be THE WORST IVE EVER EVER EVER HAD anywhere in my entire life. I mean anywhere. Even random places with no obligation to help me have given me better service. I am extremely upset and will be contacting my lawyer for harassment and discrimination. She did not want to help me and made it very clear my pregnancy and age had to do with it. I am very disappointed in this location and the service I received. She also gave me a number to call someone named DAVID. Well David if you exist and really are a district manager then this lady needs to be removed from your work team. Very very mean lady.
