Public Storage Self-Storage Units at 9890 Pacific Heights Blvd, San Diego, CA

Move in was great but only 5 months in, they raised my monthly rate by $50 (from 160-210) with only 30 days notice. That is just outrageous and even though incredibly inconvenient (they are counting on that) I am moving out to another storage service.

Laurie was impeccable, and her service was fantastic. She went above and beyond on Alyssa’s and I’s inquiry. We ended up getting a storage placement that same day and Laurie’s assistance and customer service was the best. If a raise is in the cards for her - she should be the first one in line. 10/10 hands down!

Ok they have this way to open the facility with your phone ...THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE!!! THE ELEVATOR SENSOR TOOK 15 TRIES. ONE OF THREE VISITS I GOT IN. ITS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING AND AFTER BANKERS HOURS, NOBODY AROUND. IVE BEEN HERE JUST A FEW MONTHS, AND GOT A STIFF RATE INCREASE. WORST OF ALL ...I HAD A LOAD OF 4 LARGE SPECIAL WHEELS OFF MY TRUCK. COULDNT GET UP THE ELEVATOR CUZ THAT PHONE ACCESS IS CRAP. IN DESPERATION, I WHEELED THE TIRES IN A BATHROOM AND CAME BACK ANXIOUS TO RECOVER THEM, THE NEXT DAY AT NOON. AND WAS RELIEVED THE MANAGER SAID . .OH YES I FOUND THEM MYSELF. BUT THEY'VE BEEN REMOVED BY OUR OWN PEOPLE. ILL GIVE YOU A CALL THIS AFTERNOON TO PROVIDE A LOCATION TO RECOVER THEM. THAT CALL NEVER CAME AND I WAS STONEWALLED BY MANAGEMENT...FOR OVER TWO WEEKS, GOT NO HELP AT ALL. ANTHONY PROVIDED COVER FOR EMPLOYEE, TOWING THE SAME BULLSHIT LIES ..THE TIRES WERE SOLD 3 HOURS LATER. THEY STOLE THOSE VERY EXPENSIVE TRUCK WHEELS AND TIRES COSTING $6500 AND NEVER LIFTED A FINGER TO RECOVER THEM DESPITE ASSURANCE THE SAME DAY SHE HAD IT ALL UNDER CONTROL. AND THEIR INTERNAL PEOPLE REMOVED THEM. THEY'LL BE GETTING COURT NOTICES SOON. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED, LIED TO, AND DISMISSED....LIKE COMMON TRASH. ..IS HOW I WAS TREATED. And now very pissed. Awesome customer service from Heidi! She helped me identify a unit that is the appropriate size for my things, meaning I saved money, and was extremely friendly and kind, taking me to see the different options and helping me identify the best solution This building is very clean, air-conditioned; access always works (I have had several different units in this building over the years). They do increment the prices yearly , so you have to be aware of this. Solid place for your stuff

I wish I could give zero stars. This place is NOT climate controlled like it claims to be. I got heat exhaustion from spending a couple of hours there. Everything you put in a Public Storage unit Will Get Moldy!! And when I filed an insurance claim, Public Storage closed my space! I received a move out receipt via email the day after I filed my claim. And customer service said the location closed it and put no reason, so they couldn't tell me why. They will raise your rate every 6 months by 25%-40% and the very friendly staff at your location will tell you that customer service can adjust your rate, but they are the RUDEST "customer service" I have ever spoken to and they absolutely will not adjust anything. They will tell you they are happy to close your space and give you a few days to vacate if you're unsatisfied with your rate. Do yourself a favor and do not get a unit with Public Storage. Go somewhere else.

Property manager doesn’t answer phone. Denied packages without notifying me. Closed out unit with front and they said they would take care of it but I’m still being charged weeks later.

Terrible service and maintenance. Recently the exterior doors broke They were not fixed for days. Customers (like me) could not access our property. Mgmt provided no answers or update when this would be repaired. Completely unacceptable. No concept of customer service. Stay away

The person that signed me up did not remove the lock they had on. My move is now delayed by a day. And got no response after leaving a message.

Josh H. was working the desk that day and he really had such a pleasant attitude. He was professional and extremely helpful as he helped me carry all my boxes to my truck. We have rented a space here for a couple years now and recently added a second. This is the cleanest storage we've ever rented. Love the climate control. Office Staff (Vanessa and Michael) were great! They took good care of us. They fixed issues we had with our online reservation without hesitation. TY Vanessa & Michael!

The online reservation was easy and flawless. Pleasantly surprised with the new technology. Access codes and app were sent to my phone in seconds. Location was very clean and designed very well. I was happy I was still able to find a person to talk to, Vanessa. Great spirited person who helped me find my unit, showed me how to use the app for touch less entry and explained how the insurance works.

Super friendly and fantastic customer service Update 2023: the place is clean and my stuff was secure for the entire time it was stored here, but when i went back to clear out my unit it was a very different experience than i had originally. The bathroom accessible to unit holders has been out of order for the entire week, and, while they will let you use the office bathroom during office hours, office hours are not posted anywhere and seem to be very limited. I didn't catch the name of the current property manager, but he was very nervous and made me really uncomfortable.

They charged me the entire months' rent for one day out of the month. They would not make any exceptions, stating I had signed a legal contract. I was turned over to a person who handles delinquent accounts the called me on a Weekday threating to turn me over to the courts. Very poor ending experience. Very poor customer service. Edit 4/26/23 Anthony the manager of this location called after posting the negative review. They were able to credit my account. Lots of back and forth between the company although it never should have gotten to this point. Overall, mostly pleased with my experience.

Excellent Staff Here at this location. Was having a hard time with the online reservation and something was messed up. Dalaja helped me out and fixed the problem quickly and helped make the move to different units smooth. If you need help, look for her.

Out of the few sites I have units, Pacific Heights is my favorite. Even the ghosts are nicer at this location.

I visited the storage facility inquiring on rates and the set up before deciding to choose public storage for my items. When I got there there was a young lady who helped me whose name was Dalaja who assisted me. She was very helpful and informative on the rates and also escorted me on the property so I can see the site. I didn't feel rushed with her she answered all of my questions with a smile. She was very knowledgeable and so pleasant I felt the need to give public storage a shout out for hiring such a great employee!! If we had more people like her representing companies it would make life a little easier. provided me a card so if I had any additional questions I could call. Worst customer service I've ever encountered. Employee called the police and made false accusations. Corporate refused to even return phone calls and emails and now involved in legal proceedings all due to a female employee getting caught in lies and instead of coming clean and apologizing, decided to call the police and make fraudulent claims trying to convey a false narrative of a man harassing a helpless young girl. Her actions and lies were completely reprehensible and I can't stress enough to stay away from this location as well as all other San Diego locations as they work a rotating schedule. Reports have been filed or in process of being filed with BBB, San Diego Supior Court and Public Storage Corporate.

I had pleasant experience at Public Storage Sorrento Valley today. I met Dalaja who usually works at the Pacific Heights location today. I called the office while standing in one of the units I was vacating. I called to have the blessing of the site manager Michael that my clean up of some spilled motor oil was satisfactory so no extra cleaning fee would be levied. Dalaja answered and explained Michael was off site and she was filling in for him today. I mentioned my intentions and she put my needs as a priority and met me at the unit I was still messing with. She had expeditiously visited the other unit I was finished with first so she could tell me her opinion of my cleaning. She said what I had done exceeded the requirements. Dalaja understood that my recent rental of my new larger space there at Sorrento Valley did not happen smoothly. This move from my 2 small units to my new large unit happened while the site manager was on vacation I believe. The office was unoccupied every time I was on site that week before my move started. I prefer to deal with people and none were available. I tried to use the app and it wouldnt give me results. A fourth phone call to corporate customer service resulted in the new upgraded unit finally. Dalaja understood that this move and some of the process was stressful. She was very apologetic Then she actually took the scrubbing broom out of my hands soSHE could scrub the floor and remove the remaining soap..she INSISTED on doing this! This was so nice and unexpected. Who does this type of thing today? Dalaja, during our meeting, also fielded a call from management I couldnt help but notice how professionally and matter of factly she dealt with that call. Cudos to Public Storage for finding such a quality customer service oriented employee.

horrible experience today. rented and paid ahead for 2nd unit. My code for current unit and for new unit didn't work. I was patient with office staff there. I still can't access my current unit that is paid for and have no access for a 2nd unit and staff and manager could not resolve problem. Left for 2 hours and staff no longer in office. Very upset, patience for their service failing miserable

Very clean, large, spacious, well laid out facility. Wonderfully kind and professional woman named Joseline, who personally walked us to view the spaces beforehand to make sure they’d work; hence the 5 star. Very pleased so far. I hope this company doesn’t do 20%+ increases every 6 months. Only drawbacks (almost rated 4 star for this): They wouldn’t allow locking in the rate by paying upfront, they make you pay rental insurance monthly of $15/mo on top of the fees (other places include the basic coverage), and they require you to use their lock that you have to purchase for $15-20 extra.

Fatima was an absolute superstar!! Fantastic worker who helped us out in a timely manner and made our transfer an easy process. Explained everything extremely well and overall gave me a great experience!

Drive for an hour..noon on a Tue, and the facility is abandoned. Doors inoperable. Call the property manager, no response. Call public storage, they say they have no clue...but they'll create "a ticket". Other people have been waiting all day. The facility has not been open since the day before. I escalated to the regional manager. Guess what...VM...no reply. My only option now is a police report, to report stollen property. Hopefully the police can get us all access so we can retrieve our belongings. I guess public storage is just too big now. They can have a facility abandoned and not know, or even care.

They sent me an email saying that I had a balance for the month of October when I moved out weeks before then. Property manager was rude and unhelpful when I tried to figure out what was going on over the phone. Unit was also very dirty before I moved in.

Very SMOOTH process from web to moving in at the facility. I was immediately contacted and then met by Fatima at the office who had everything ready to go.

Fatima at the front desk was very helpful on the phone. Some things I like about this location: two buildings splits up the cars in the lot, not near a lot of residential so it’s less busy especially on weekends, it’s nearby major highways, there is a bathroom (though I wish they would fix the hand soap dispenser) and it’s well lit.

Helping a friend move items here and the manager turned off the entrance code without informing her. Very trusting lack of communication.

I have been so pleased to have been able to store my belongings at this location for the past year while I traveled. I first started my storage adventures in another company residing in Escondido just for cost purposes but found this location when I began residing in Carmel Valley. The cost was even less than Escondido and so much cleaner and safer than what I’d found further east. After moving in (with none of the weeks of advance notice required by the Escondido business to terminate), I was able to set up automatic payments and access through a simple app interface that made everything so quick and easy. I never had to speak with an employee again… until today when I checked out of my space with Oliver who was so personable and immediately available to confirm the rental space was empty and send me on my way. In fact, the first employees I spoke with upon renting as well as the last one upon leaving were all so courteous and enjoyable, whoever is managing this location is clearly an asset to the Public Storage brand and reputation. Great employees, great service, great product. When and if I need a place to keep my things again, they will be first on my list. Thank you for my home away from home!!

The guy was great. Polite, not in my face, respectful young dude. I went out of my way to write this.

The employees are great and really nice. Stephanie is the best! She has assisted us twice and really friendly! The only reason I give 4 stars is with the amount of ground to cover, there’s only one employee on the property to assist us. So there are frequent wait periods when that employees is out helping another person. Other than that, I have no issue here!

The property looks brand new and is very clean. I rented completely online and had Oliver's help to get us settled in. He answered all of my questions with a beeming personality. He had walked us to the unit and told us everything we needed to know about the property. Overall a pleasant experience.

UPDATE 05/15/22: When I stopped off to put some items into my unit, I noticed my entire storage space smelled like gasoline. It was like I was at a gas station and just letting the gas spill on the ground. When I went to the front desk to report it, the person working told me she was aware that someone was storing gas but they couldn't do anything about it. I asked if I could transfer my stuff to a different unit because we had baby stuff in there she said that was fine, but then informed me that I had to have everything moved in under 2 hours when her shift ended or I would be charged for both units by their system. There was no way I was going to get a mostly full 10x10 space emptied and transferred to the other building in under 2 hours. I had to leave my stuff in a unit smelling like gasoline. Old review: My initial impressions are that this is a great storage site. They are offering some sweat start of summer deals on units right now (06/02/18). I'm able to get a 10'x10' climate controlled space for the same price as a 5'x10' space without climate control in Vista. The office folks are also really helpful and polite. Definitely recommend!

Oliver provided excellent and Extravagant customer service. He operated as not only an employee but also as a CEO. Very knowledgeable of the company and made me feel like I am apart of the team. I feel super Awesome Now because my issue was super resolved by a professional that gets my top recommendation. I'm one of the Greatest music producers alive in Vegas. Oliver is a great communicator and bring great business to the company cuz I almost left. Salute.

I had a 5 by 10 storage unit here for not even a whole month and over half my items were stolen including personal family heirlooms. I live across the country and I had hoped with the security measures there would be some support, but not only were my things clearly not secure, there was no one willing to help with the police report and when I was able to fly back to take care of the report, the desk clerk tried to say there was not a break-in to my unit (fortunately I had the calls and photos). I read all the reviews and really hoped my things would be safe, so I wanted to write a review so others might learn from my mistakes.

Great experience getting a fantastic space here, Michael went above and beyond explaining the available spaces and showing me which one would best fit my current and future needs. Very professional and informative service. He also guided me throught the space and gave me the tricks to maximize the space utilization. The place is very well keep and clean. The app also works fantastic as with a touch of a button on the phone you can access the space and also provides you the access code.

I came in to rent a unit and did not expect to be taken care of so well. Brenda broke everything down for me (rules, hours, when rent is due,what kind of lock I need, everything). She did not skip a beat, she was so professional and confident speaking to me I felt comfortable being there. The property is clean and they have carts! Moving in general is supposed to be stressful but Brenda's attitude and professionalism took that away.
