UPDATE on my REVIEW:
I've dropped my review from 5 stars down to 2. Since renting my unit, they hiked the rent up TWICE between April of 2023 and June of 2024--and substantially at that. I started with a 5x10 unit at $135 per month in April of 2023. In my statement it says that I should be paying $176 but that I'm getting a "discount" of $41. (nobody ever informed me this was a discount btw). This "discount" mysteriously disappeared five months later so I began paying $176 (a 30% increase). Then the following June they hiked it up to $224 (another 30%). I went onto their website and saw that I could rent another unit, the SAME size, for $111 a month. So I closed out my first unit and rented the second one at basically half of what they wanted to charge me. I did have to haul all of my stuff from one unit in the bldg to the next. Luckily for me I had only large boxes and the units were pretty close.
Fast forward another five months and here we go again. I can see the mysterious discount on my monthly rent and that is now disappearing and that $111 is now going up another 30% to $144! Also, keep in mind, when they remove the discount, they don't inform you that your "promotional period is ending" or anything like that--they just say that your rent is going up.
All of this has soured me on Public Storage. It really feels like a bait-and-switch. I can currently see that they are offering my size unit online for $119. I've been renting from them on and off for decades and I don't recall this practice ever happening. They know that once you move all of your crap into one of their units, you're not likely to want to move it out in six months when they jack up your rent. What am I supposed to do now, pay to rent a U-Haul to bring it to another storage company? And my unit is small, I can't even imagine what it must feel like to have one of the larger units and to be faced with having to have a moving company come and move all your stuff to another place. The cost of that alone would be way more than the rent hike. So, obviously they know what they're doing...
Now, let me tell you about the Sherman Way location. I find the employees there to be absolutely delightful. They are always helpful and really go the extra mile for you. In fact, when I called to complain about the second rate hike back in April, the manager told me that they don't control the rates of the units but that she reached out to corporate and they were going to offer me another three months at my previous rate. I explained that the deal online was still considerably less than I was paying and that it didn't make sense to keep what I had only to 1. pay more than what I could get online and 2. have it hike up in three months. I did appreciate all that she did for me tho.
The facility itself is always kept clean, spotless really. There's never any junk laying around. I don't like that the app-controlled gate works for me about 50% of the time and also that there always seems to be a shortage of carts around. I guess people are pretty rough with them because I'm told they're down a couple for repair.
Bottom line: even though the staff is amazing and the facility is clean and secure, corporate doing all of these rent hikes doesn't make it worth it. I'm kinda stuck here if I don't want to make 200 trips in my small car to move everything to another company, but you don't have to.

I’ve had storage for the better part of 30 years in the various places I’ve lived and I have to say that public storage has been the best. Their facilities always feel safe and clean and the one on Sherman Way is no exception. It feels brand new even tho it’s been open a while. It still has that “new car smell.”
Beyond the facilities, the person who rented me the unit, Jazz, was incredible. Funny and personable yet also seriously knowledgeable about what PS offers. She showed me around to several units until we found one that was right for me. She made the entire process quite pleasant. I really enjoyed getting to know her.

We are in the process of vacating our unit at this public storage. We arrived around 1030 am on 8/25/24. There was multiple carts available in the lot. So we took two because we are vacating the property and we are pressed on time. On our 3rd trip down to the u-haul this couple approached us and asked for one of the carts. We explained that we are moving out and would have it for about another hour or so. This property leaves carts everywhere you just have to go to the next building and look. Well they got mad and told the worker Logan. In less then 15 minutes Logan comes up to our unit and states that it is one cart per person and took one of the cart from us. There isn’t any signs that state any cart rules besides the on that says, “Carts provided for your convenience Available during office hours The next customer appreciates”. I don’t know what the couple told him but he started to stock us. We ran out of the room in the uhaul and the cart that we were using had a load of stuff on it. We decided to locked it up in the unit because we were going to leave and make more room and come right back. Before we even left the property (we were fixing the truck) we got a miss call from public storage. Logan left a message saying that there is a problem with our unit(message was check when we arrived at home).We left and came back 30 minutes later to find our storage unit was over locked with a public storage lock. We did not have a late payment or anything. We went to talk to Logan and right off the back he gave us attitude so I gave it right back. He stated we were steeling the cart by locking in the unit and we should have told him what was going on so we could avoid the over lock. He didn’t want to unlock our unit until we explain to him what was going on. He finally got up and walked us to the unit to un lock it and as he walked away he said aggressively “I’m telling you again not to keep the cart in the unit or this will keep happing ”. Idk what’s up with this dude he obviously was targeting us and made a call to our phone when we were on the property. If he had a problem he could have just walked up to us. This isn’t my first time have a problem with Logan and it suck’s cause every other staff member there is alway helpful and kind.

The manager Logan agreed I would be out by June and did something in his computer. When July came around, they charged July again. They don’t care about their customers and just want their money. NO HOSPITALITY.
Karla helped me initially and she was great. I forget the names of the other guys the day after when I moved in my stuff. But they were also very helpful.
One thing I will say, although the service is great, is that the door to access the units is smaller than the elevator door, which is a little bit… frustrating. Just some constructive feedback.

Staff are great. Location not so great. It’s difficult to get in and out due to high traffic. Also wish there was a speed limit on site as people speed through the facility like they own the place. Took them almost a month to fix a broken elevator. Later hours would be nice too. Also cross your fingers they don’t raise your storage rent!
EDIT: I added a star because I was on the 2nd floor during a 4.5 mag. earthquake and the building didn’t collapse. It felt like like a 6.0 earthquake - enough that I got motion sickness…

Left storage open because elevator stop working at 6pm. ITS SO RIDICULOUS! People finishing their jobs at around 5pm, and storage just block the gates, elevators at 6pm?! Definitely one star!

The elevator breaks all the time or is slow slow slow... They will raise rent $100 after 3 months, even though they are advertising for same unit for cheaper than what you pay. They will tell you that you can transfer to another unit, but they won't adjust the price. Thx for the help when I am homeless and suffering from severe medical issues...
Not sure what the deal is but this place is suppose to be open until 5 or 6pm daily! I have been going to the office and nobody is there for over an hour. 👎👎

Horrible horrible horrible run run run from this storage place there were bugs in my storage larvae and roaches and nats flying every where and that's just the beginning of my problems with this storage facility. My loved one passed away and I was paying her bill for months when a worker there gave me a bum lock as I was trying to get her belongings the key would not work in the lock and I was still paying when I made contact with them it took them forever to respond when they finally did respond it was months later they wanted me to keep paying on this storage after I told them about the lock they gave me wheather or not they were trying to be nice or not they were only concerned about money this is not a place where I would ever go to again and to be clear I would never recommend this company. So I hope whoever buys this unit enjoys the colorful wigs because they deserve zero stars.

Nice and clean, a bit vast, though not in a bad way. The security is super tight, a bit restrictively so. You need to punch your code in everywhere — even to leave; it gets a bit tedious. Also they close at 6 and everything shuts down — you'll get locked in if you're running behind.
