As a small business (27+ years now), I've needed a secure storage spot for all my clients' confidential scripts and files, and the Cotner location has been great for 17 years now. (Yikes!) I've used storage units all over LA and Riverside Counties for 30+ years now, but I'm still at the higher-priced Cotner is manager John, 100%. Sure, Cotner is perfectly clean, well-lit, with easy parking and feels safe, but John makes the difference.
Having a manager who knows his customers, who helps find the right size unit for your needs over the years, who reaches out with updates to the security system, etc. is rare. He keeps the load-in/move-out traffic running smoothly, AND he's professional, helpful, personable, and savvy. The Sunday/Monday guy is always lovely and helpful, too. But it's nice to do my storage stuff on Tues.-Sat. because John values me as a customer, keeping me loyal to P.S. (and I feel totally safe when I have to be alone, sorting in the unit during office hours).
There's a lot to hate about the storage unit business overall... I REALLY miss my garage! But this is why a trusty, thoughtful, protective manager like John delivers real value for the cost. And as long as my ScriptNotes biz keeps going well, my client files will have a safe home at Cotner.
The staff here was so helpful, in particular John. He went above and beyond- to assist me. I was so frazzled with my move it was one of those moments when everything that could go wrong went wrong. By the time I got to the storage site I was almost out of gas, had not eaten, my phone was about to die , (charger was damaged during move) and of course I kept getting an error message saying I could not get access into the storage -!!! That is when my saving angel came into the picture John was on his lunch break but noticed I was having difficulty trying to get through to customer service and I was seeing my battery life dwindle down. I explained to him what was going on - he informed me that he was on his lunch however he would help me figure out the issue with the access codes. He let me charge my phone, and as soon as he was off his break he delivered. We figured out that I had incorrectly entered one digit of my phone number which is why I was unable to get access. We corrected the issue once we confirmed my identity. This reassuring how secure they keep this place - he then showed me my storage space helped guide me to a space that was close to an elevator since I was solo in my endeavor, so nice as I could not move as many boxes on my own . Once I was done he recommended the nearest gas station places to eat . He was so kind with his words and reassurance His message delivery was what I needed on a very trying day . Public storage is lucky to have him as a front man . Moving is never fun but he got me through it!!!! Great experience !!!

The location is good, and the staff are helpful. However, prices were raised $60/month in 2022, $60 more/month in 2023 (although they did delay this rent increase by six months when I complained), and $60 more in 2024.
When I moved in, I was paying $135. I'm now paying $310. The state should place limits on storage room rent increases just like they do on apartments, because this is price gouging, plain and simple.

Great storage facility! It’s never too busy and everything is very well kept. The only thing I wish was available was 24 hour access, but I know in a big city that can be difficult. Be sure to pay attention to the opening and closing times! The app works really great, and makes accessing the facility a breeze, but when it’s closed, it’s definitely closed. 6pm weekdays. 5pm weekends.
Special shoutout to John, his customer service went above and beyond to make my trip happen. I hope management reads this so they know how grateful I am for his assistance. Would absolutely recommend storing your stuff here if they have availability.

Terrible it wasn’t the worst the facility was always clean for the most part but the bathroom smelled bad and wasn’t always clea. The staff was disorganized they do not have a sign by the trash can that says this trash can is for public storage employees onlly yet they expect you not to throw the trash there. We didn’t find out about this until we got evicted. For complaining about there disorganization. For a while we would call for assistance and no body would even be there to answer the phone. Yet at the front door it says storage is open. But no one was ever there. The district manager and shameka the manager asked me to move out instead of giving me till the first to move out they wanted me to move out right away. It made no sense since we paid for the full month. They said you cannot access the storage unless your coming to move everything out on the same exact day. When Troy the employee that works there answered my voicemail by returning the call he told me he was there he was really nice for the most part gave us access to the storage because he knew we needed more than one trip to litterely complete the entire move. But this storage facility was a terrible experience from day one. Because they didn’t even care enough to walk me to my storage and show me how to open and lock my lock. When they have two different locks that work different extra space storage did everything that public storage failed to do that is why we recommend it verses this storage. They don’t care about you because they hire employees that have there own secret agendas and pick and choose whom they want there or not! If you complain about there employees they will find things to complain about you and make up all sorts of lie. And ofcourse it’s your word against theirs vice vera

First of all, John was above-and-beyond helpful. He was friendly, welcoming, professional, direct, and a clear problem-solver. The only complaint I have is about the smell of my unit's floor. It's way mustier than the rest of the building. But hey, it's storage - not Buckingham Palace. Overall I recommend! It is safe, clean, efficient, and John is awesome to work with!

Property manager is nice, but price hikes are absurd. Started my unit at $160 (with insurance I believe) and it's now $300. They also changed the hours so you can only access your storage before 6 (5 on weekends), which is not easy or convenient if you are working.
Basically, employees might be nice, but company will sign you up for a unit and then consistently hike the prices on you

I saved a huge headache thanks to the property manager here, John. He went above and beyond what is normally expected in helping me and my crew. These days, it is extremely rare to meet someone of his caliber, sincerity and kindness, and professional ability and competence. He helped us move in right at closing and showed us the best possible tips and tricks for fitting into a small locker. That is, despite my inexperience with Public Storage facilities. I saved a huge headache. Seriously, huge shoutout to John.

This is a great location! I needed to grab a storage unit ASAP, called up the store, and Troy helped me out immensely! Really took his time to get all my questions answered and show me around the facility to the unit I would be renting. Love that the access code is specific to you and the floor your unit is on. Climate control was also a big plus! Cant thank Troy enough for helping me with everything!

I used Public Storage recently and they were extremely helpful in upgrading me to a larger unit when my mover told me my furniture could not fit into the smaller unit I had purchased the day before. You never know what kind of problems you will encounter when moving, I am happy that Public Storage could help with another unit that would hold all my things.
