About Fullerton

Fullerton is a city in northern Orange County, California, with a vibrant music scene and lively downtown. It's home to several higher education institutions, notably California State University, Fullerton and Fullerton College. The History of Fullerton

The city of Fullerton was founded in 1887, originally secured on behalf of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. In its early years, Fullerton was a center for petroleum extraction, manufacturing and agriculture, as well as home to many large groves of Valencia oranges and other citrus crops.

In the mid-20th century, the city's economy welcomed the arrival of several new industrial sectors, including aerospace and paper production. The population grew significantly as World War II veterans arrived in search of a comfortable place to call home. As the surrounding cities and interstate continued to develop, so did Fullerton.

Things to Do in Fullerton

Fullerton is a city of parks, with over 50 different public ones to choose from. At the Fullerton Arboretum, you can explore 26 acres and thousands of plant varieties, as well as an agricultural museum. It's the largest botanical garden in the county, with four separate habitats exhibiting a variety of plants. You can also enjoy the warm and sunny weather at your local neighborhood park. Many of the city's parks have expansive green lawns, sports courts and picnic ramadas.

If you enjoy arts and culture, the Clayes Performing Arts Center is the city's top performance venue. Here, you can see a wide variety of dance, music and theater performances. The Maverick Theater is a smaller local venue, known for hosting unique adaptations of a variety of Hollywood films.

Fullerton is also home to a variety of shopping and dining, making it easy to have a good time right within city limits.

School District Information

The public schools in Fullerton are under the jurisdiction of the Fullerton School District and the Fullerton Joint Union High School District. There are also a number of private schools in the city, including parochial, Montessori and arts schools.

If you're planning on pursuing higher education, Fullerton has a handful of post-secondary schools to choose from. The California State University, Fullerton, is the city's most notable campus and one of the largest in the CSU system.
