If I could give this place negative I would. The staff were rude and not very helpful. I lost my storage because I was homeless with 2 small young children I had to choose between paying for a shelter or belongings. I was notified that my storage was being sold (I couldn't do anything about it) I wasnt working yet. I didn't know the policy on if or when I could retrieve any of my kids baby pictures or personal belongings that was only sentimental to myself. I called MULTIPLE times and left Voicemails BEFORE the date of the sale. I went in and asked them if I could retrieve anything and they told me it was already sold off and they blamed me for leaving personal items in the unit. I wasn't planning on letting my stuff get sold off in auction. Also a guy FINALLY called me back 2-3 weeks AFTER everything was sold. I just want EVERYONE to know what I didn't. You should be notified to grab items that cannot be replaced BEFORE the sale and if I am the only one who doesn't know this then I definitely learned the hard way. 💔

I needed a big space to move furniture, a motorcycle, and many boxes to make way for a home remodel. I had the good luck to deal with Crystal at Public Storage in El Cajon, who called me back and met with me on a holiday weekend and went out of her way to help me. Knowing what I needed better than I did, she set me up in exactly the right-sized space, at a lower price than the competition was offering. She was patient and professional and she continues to be so. Five stars. She’s my first call from now on.
ps - while I was getting signed up, a guy came in to the office to complain that his keycode wouldn’t work. Crystal politely but firmly informed him that he was no longer welcome after he violated his rental contract by “loitering”, meaning he and his random friends were hanging out and partying after hours. I got the impression that he’d been warned at least once already. She then gave him ample time that day to clear out his rental unit. I appreciate good security in all its forms, including at the place where I’m keeping things that are important to me and that can’t be replaced. Kudos to Crystal for that, as well.

I want to love this place! Staff are super friendly and helpful. The facilities are quiet and clean! Access is super easy through the app! However please be aware that they raise their prices every 6-9 months. I saw my first price hike at 6 months where they raised the rent by a whopping 35%. They raised the rent again 9 months later by 21%. And 9 months after that, by 24%. The rate has just about doubled since I arrived in 2022. I love the facilities here, but I am not satisfied with the constant increases in price.

Crystal is an amazing person. She was very helpful. All storage is on the ground, no need to climb stairs or use elevators. You drive up to your unit and you store your things. The only thing I could wish for is that units were more wider and/or deeper instead of taller to really maximize on storage space, at least on the areas that you can physically reach.

I would give zero stars if I could. I reserved a unit online, on a weekend I went during office hours to check the unit and move some things into it case there were any issues there would be someone in office to discuss them with like the lock didn’t work etc. When I opened my unit, bugs came out everywhere, apparently crickets. They were falling from the door, there was at least 30 or more of them crawling inside the unit. The unit was dirty with something sticky on the ground. I call the office to see if someone can meet me there, I was willing to take another unit at this location but I was not going to move my things into the cricket infested one. No one answered. I went to the office, no one was there, I checked office hours and it said they were open someone should have been there until 5pm and this incident occurred around 3:30 pm. I was unable to find any number to get ahold of someone, I finally got in touch with corporate and they said in 72 hours someone would contact me. I had loaded my truck which took hours, and had no where to place my items. I ended up going with another storage unit that had someone in office. On Monday I get a call from the office stating they had left early due to a family emergency. I totally understand and have sympathy, but no signs indicating this no nothing. I was issued a refund from corporate except for the admin fee which is non refundable which is ironic because no one was even there in office when I needed them. Here’s a picture of one, but I have a video of all of them. I would recommend finding a different place to store your items.

Very clean and secure storage place.
Worst staff Manager and experience with this particular facility. They taught situations and then lie to customers as they did us. Also caters to the homeless people that camps out around the facility. They can usually be found in the restroom in the morning sleep or leaving out when the facility has just opened. Very disappointing and discussed. I can provide more indept detail of our experience. But the good outcome is that crystal made the situation better but the GM needs to be investigated.

Crystal really makes everything very easy for everyone when she is around. Shes right up there with Jenny from the lemon grove location. Very strict and by the book, taking into consideration liability issues for the owner while on duty, she wouldn’t break the rules for me and ride the electric scooter lol she said “no way it would be a liability risk to the owner!”

Reserved a unit, got there and immediately saw cigarette butts inside building and rat droppings everywhere… Not for over $100 a month, I don’t think so!!! It’s not climate controlled obviously. This place needs a reality check, worth more like $20 bucks if that! Terrible! The gate is right off the main road, anyone could just walk onto the property. Looks like a homeless camp in there…

Someone from this location called me several times about another person's storage unit and that I was listed as a contact on the account. I told them that they had the wrong number because I didn't know the person they were asking for. They persisted in calling me over the next couple weeks and when I asked them to stop calling me, they would just say that my number was on the account. One time they called me several times in a row and hanging up. I haven't been able to talk to anyone who could exercise common sense and and stop calling me about because someone gave them the wrong number.
I was actually only here due to helping a friend move his items out of storage. I rated this a three star due to the reason he had to move. While the company does have cameras, and gates with a single entrance that you need a passcode for. The walls of the storage became the problem. My friend had his storage unit broken into, due to the leaser of the unit next to his, taking down the walls from the inside to get into his rented unit and steal his high value items.

DO NOT STORE ANYTHING YOU CARE ABOUT HERE!! Zero stars! This place is a literal nightmare. I am still suffering mentally, physically and financially from storing my belongings here while in the process of moving. Within 2 weeks my unit was ransacked and several thousands of dollars worth of irreplaceable items were stolen. Their so-called insurance is a complete scam and the company does not return any calls or emails. They have no real security system in place and I as I was moving out, I witnessed people holding the exit gates open so others could access the lot without punching in their codes. Clearly the codes were only meant for honest people. There are large gaps in their surrounding fence that would allow someone to get through easily. Very strangely, ours was the only unit in our row to be burglarized and the thieves clearly focused on a certain brand. After finding other reviews of similarly stolen items, I wonder if it is an inside job... The police officer who took my report did not disagree with me and told me that this place gets "broken into" frequently. BEWARE!

Something to be warry of is that Public Storage raised my rates about 6 months into the stay, and informed me they can do so at their discretion, but I wasn't in a position to move things at that time so had to stomach the cost.
Overall, would use them again but be mindful of the increased cost ($40 more a month) after several months.
No complaints with this spicific location, easy in and easy out and local staff is plenty helpful. Whoever works customer service for public storage as a company however is extremley rude, called multiple times with questions regarding hours of operation and entry procedures and was hung up on TWICE and told not to ask stupid questions that are already listed on the website. Very frustrating, will be using a 24 hour location once my term is up here

I rented a storage unit here in the past.
A friend currently rents a unit from this company, we can visit a local storefront and she can pay her unit rental fee at a local storefront as well as online.
Pros - usually well run, secure, and they usually have a variety of unit sizes available.
Cons - tend to be on the expensive side as far as rental fees are concerned.

Used to rent in a lot of small moms and pops around El Cajon but alway got very bad customer service was hesitant to rent with a big company but Miguel manager changed my mind I’m glad I rented here great prices great customer service place alway clean.

We went in person to check it out and the facilities were extremely clean, lanes really wide and the units were in excellent condition.

Less than 1 star for this place. I was one of several people whose unit was broken into December 2021. I asked Miguel if any other units were broken into and he told me no. I find out from El Cajon PD that at the time of my call, there were at least 7 in the past 30 days. Then I see on Yelp and here there are more people who have had their units broken into. Sounds like an inside job to me. El Cajon PD says they have been warned about their poor security and still have not done anything to fix it. The word negligent and law suit comes to mind after hearing this. Save your money and time renting here.

10 break-ins in December 2021. I was one of the victims. Stole over $11k worth of belongings and equipment. The lock was never broken, so it had to be an employee with a Bezel master key. The "insurance" is a joke. El Cajon Police is looking into this facility. DO NOT RENT HERE!!!

9 break-ins in December alone. Are not enough cameras to cover the establishment, and the few that are there often are not working. This is not a secure place to put anything of value, and the management doesn't seem to care.
The springs on the garage doors need adjusting. It's too hard to lift the doors. Also they need new ropes on some of the doors. many are rotted off.
